Joshua Filler's record 285 at Derby City

Pleasure watching this. He only stops to think when necessary. He averages about 4 balls per minute including racking.

This was the last year of the 14.1 high run challenge at Derby City. 285 was the record. Second that year was 260 by Dennis Orcullo.
Yes, it was an electrifying day at the DCC 14.1 Challenge. Chris Melling had already run a 244 and the general feeling was that this would hold for the high run prize. It sure didn't pan out that way, as, on the final day of qualifying, Orcullo beat Melling with a 260 and then Filler topped Orcullo with a 285.

Was this the challenge table that mistakingly had 4.25" pockets? Or am I thinking about another year?

I looked around and didn't find any previous post of this video, so I'm posting it.

Bob,

I really looked forward to the 14.1 event at the Derby. When the decision was made to end it, I was very disappointed. Do you know if there is a chance for the event to come back someday?

Home for lunch and started watching this. Was going to watch half and then come back later. Great being self employed, Wonderful work out
this young man put together. Superb to say the least. Thanks for this post. Will be watching this many times more. Saw a few moves that raised my eyebrows it did.

Went back and watched this amazing run again. The spot where Filler had gotten himself behind the per-verbal 8 ball and he found the small
window to go into the rail first for the 11. He looked at that shot many times and at one time looking over the shot, he layed his cue down the line where the cue ball was headed. He had it lined up headed at the point of the cushion right above the side pocket. Then he looked at the shot again for awhile before going after it. After making the 11 the cue ball went right to point of that side cushion and came back out about 6 inches or so for the tough cut he made for the 7 ball. That got him well on his way again, but my eye brows were raised indeed when the cue ball came off that side pocket point

Seems more accurate to say that "nobody can make a cue with which Filler can't run 285."
My cue might be the exception. I can’t seem to make a ball with it and it couldn’t possibly be my fault.

Or maybe it’s the table….

Probably it's the table with pockets that are too large to make you focus. Are they 4.5" like for Filler?
