I've had my pawn shop Joss for 6 or something years and it hasn't warped at all, though there's a few times I wouldn't mind having used that as an excuse.. :o
 
I like the part that says "after you bit" instead of after you bid. As in, after you took the bait and got hooked into this scam.

Even better is the line "If you are unhappy with your purchase in any way, please tell us by leaving message. " They don't say they will do anything about it, but please be sure to leave a message. They drink beers and listen to all the complaints on Friday afternoons and laugh and laugh and laugh...

The two big problems are the likelihood of confusion and after-sale service. Person searches the web, sees favorable reviews for Joss cues, finds these fakes on Ebay and buys one. Cue develops problems and the customer contacts Joss and finds out the cue is fake.

We dealt with this very thing all the time with Instroke. in fact just last week someone was selling a case in the Wanted and For Sale section as an old Instroke, when in fact it was a knockoff. And we still get emails asking us to authenticate the age of Instroke cases where the case in question is not an Instroke. And those are situations where the Instroke trademark has not been used, simply the design has been copied.

In the situation where the infringer appropriates the name it's even more of a problem because they start putting the name on models that the trademark owner doesn't even make. It's basically ID theft. And this type of theft causes lots of problems with customer relations, service calls, advertising and marketing, and legal fees that most often cannot be recovered.

I thought I would not even comment, but since you mentioned my name......................

It is wrong for them to use the Joss name illegally. Sadly, probably nothing will be done to them. One cannot deny that Joss does have a good name among many players.

JoseV, if Cracktherack bought a counterfeit piece of junk, how would he tell it apart from an authentic Joss piece of junk? Do they both warp and make a clunking sound when you hit the ball?

Well thats very easy cause JossII is the first red flag and one of the best things about Joss is Dan can pretty much verify any cue that came from the good ole USA shop.

Granted some people will buy blind and not know anything about like someone said whenit comes to verify a cue or case just to be told they were hoodwinked.

Now i give credit where credit is due so i will give you credit for not bashing Joss like your normally do i feel you understand that this about counterfit cues and not about warrenty work.

But it makes me wonder how many have gotten counterfit cues and are running into these issues you might very well have a counterfit Joss.

But i really dont want to highjack the ops thread thumbs up for giving AZ Billiards the heads up

I have reported them before on Ebay, yet they are still selling. I am surprised to see this thread actually, they have been selling these for a while.

That 's just so lame to see the sticker says "Authentic Schon shaft" on a fake Schon shaft. Those guys selling them must be really shameless.

Please report on Ebay that this is a fraud. Dan Janes is a good guy and we need to help his company make this go away.

Did you copy and paste or did you talk to Dan Janes?

I've talked to Dan lots of times...and I know once you chalk the cue....good luck with any warranty.

It is his discretion...LOL! :wink: It's like talking your way out of a speeding ticket.:angry:

To understand some warranties, you might have to talk to a lawyer to figure out what it means. A Joss warranty excludes warpage and normal wear on replaceable parts such as the tip, ferrule, finish, wrap and bumper.

LOL...what is left? Thats almost the whole pool cue.:eek:
