I just came in from running 96. I missed #97, a straight in five foot shot. If I make that it was just about a lock I'd go over 100 . Johnnyt

Edit for title. I ran 96, not 97.

WOW Johnny, pretty strong! Were you thinking of that "100" when you missed that shot?

Great shooting, i just remember all the times that i got ohhh so close until i finally did it.

even now i still upset when i come close to the magic #. Not that it happens very often that i get there, but i feel honestly like it will happen again soon!

Got to start to get back to work with the video camera, so i can capture it when it happens. So FORUMGHOST516 i hope you are ready !!!! LOL

Way to go Johnny. It is great to hear people talking about high runs again and being so enthusiastic about the game after years/decades of what can only be described as apathy.

Johnny, how long have you been playing 14.1?

I'm 68 yo Steve. It was the game my Dad first taught me in the 1950's. I played it on the 9' and 10' tables until the COM came out...then I got the gambling fever more than I had. I chose to play in bars (mostly 8-ball) at that time. But 14.1 and 3-cushion will always be my first love. I've played 80% or more on bar boxes since the early 1980's, so I suck on a 9-footer now. I'm looking to get rid of my bar box and pick up a 8 1/2-footer. A 9' foot just won't fit. Johnnyt

Fine straight pool run on... get this... a bar-box!

Johnny:

That's a fine run even on a big table, let alone a bar-box. A straight pool run of 96 on a bar-box? You oughta be shot! :D Seriously though, in many ways, long runs are more difficult on a bar-box's confined real estate, because you *really* have to get whitey to stop on a dime. Whereas a large table offers tougher/longer-distance shots than a bar-box (the extra real estate playing in your favor by allowing more leeway with cue ball position), the situation of "having the same fourteen balls in about half the table real estate" factor many times makes it tougher to execute long runs on a bar-box because of the increased cluster-busting you have to do. Fine job, JT!

P.S.: about your second-to-last sentence; "8 1/2-footer" -- is there such a thing? 8 footers (8 x 4) are common, but I've not personally heard of "8 1/2 foot" tables. What would the dimensions be on such a table -- 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 (8.5 x 4.25)?

Thank you for the kind words. An 8 1/2' or oversized 8' is 46" X 92". Their hard to come by in my area (Tampa, FL. ) but I'll find one I'm sure. I have a few people looking that get around. Johnnyt

I have probably tried to get another good run since the 96. I bet I've tried 25 to 35 times with the two best being in the low 40's. Very frustrating game 14.1. I have a verbal battle with myself all the time. I say, "don't shoot this shot your going to scratch", then someone else in my head says, "Go ahead and shoot it, you can avoid that scratch."
So I listen to that voice half the time and shoot it...and that's the end of that run. Johnnyt

lol, apa7 is still not banned? This guy makes more low class posts per capita than any other guy on the forums. If you don't think johnny can run 'em then go play him some.

Turning guys like him bright red is one of the few things I enjoy about being high on the rep list...;)

no time for negative
