Kevin Trudeau Jailed

Just saw an infomercial with kt on at 3am. How and who is paying for it? Hummm. ???

These types of cases are always tricky. Trudeau says he's broke and, obviously, the judge doesn't seem to think so.

Reminds me of gangster Meyer Lansky, who claimed to be "an old man living on a pension" when it was believed by the government that his net worth was in the area of $300,000,000. For those who have watched "The Godfather II," the Hyman Roth character was based on Meyer Lansky.

Guess we'll see how this plays out.

For a period of time I was living in Springfield, Missouri.

For years there was a trucking company called Campbell 66 Trucking..."Humping to Please". It made millions, but eventually when into bankruptcy.

The folks were trying to find all of their money and they too said they were broke and had none.

What investigators eventually found was semi trailers buried full of expensive vases, paintings, jewelery, you name it. Yep they buried they semi trailers full of stuff.

Eventually it was auctioned off and the money distributed to employees, (probably mostly to lawyers but whatever).

Amazing.

Most informercials are run for free, especially in off-hours, as what's called a P.I. (per inquiry). The network gets a percentage of any sales that result from people responding to the infomercial.

Interesting. I figured it was due to companies contracting for blocks of time well in advance of when the commercial airs.

If they are giving commercial time away for free, I'm surprised they would give to KT since it makes it seem as though he's been actually paying them their cut all this time.

Well, here you go, my little chickadees!

October 24, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Infomercial king Kevin Trudeau will be spending this weekend in jail.

Trudeau was locked up Tuesday after a federal judge rejected his last-minute plea for leniency.

The television pitchman is being held in contempt of court for failing to pay a $37 million civil judgment. His next court date is Monday.

It's just a contempt of court jailing, not a real sentence.

I think those are capped out at 6 months, max. The reasoning seems to be if that much time doesn't change the behavior, it won't. Ok, looked up the old Susan McDougal case and found it's 18 months max, at least in Arkansas.

Kevin Trudeau, who spent the last week at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, was warned by U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman that he could face perjury charges 'if there are any other assets that are discovered or turned up ... or that I find you control.'

A federal judge agreed to release TV pitchman Kevin Trudeau from jail Monday after the infomercial king testified under oath that he had divulged all his assets to the government.

Trudeau, who spent the past week at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, was warned by U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman that he could face perjury charges "if there are any other assets that are discovered or turned up … or that I find you control."

Two of Trudeau's lawyers huddled with him for several minutes before he testified under oath.

When the judge asked if he had any other assets to disclose, Trudeau replied, "None that I know of."

Gettleman said he was reluctant to keep Trudeau locked up so close to trial because it could hamper his ability to prepare with his lawyers.

KT wanted to "own pool" and after the third IPT event or so, he did own pool. Then he was forced to do a real $$ evaluation of the worth of his holdings. When the numbers came in, he bailed and Sigel escaped unscathed somehow. Strange isn't it?
