To me that match was the best nail biter I've seen in awhile. I was lucky enough to pick the right side on my bets, but could have gone either way. I hope to see Shaw back on TAR sometime in the future. I would like to see him and Shane in about 6 months. Thanks to all that made this match happen. Johnnyt

Jayson ain't shy... Busti on the 10 ftr... then Ronnie on TAR.. now JA in April back on the 10 ftr race to 21.. must push-out after the break..

He stays in action

I suggest he try to spend a couple of months in the Philippines. I bet when he returns, he will a much better player than he already is. SVB, Appleton and Mika spent a lot of time in the Philippines and look where they are now.

He did not beat Ronnie so he has no shot with Dennis or Shane. Its another league imo.

Shaw didn't beat Alcano, but he came darn close. On Friday, the match was tied 22-22 before Alcano won 5 of the last 6 games. On Saturday, Shaw led 26-24 before Alcano won the last 3 games.

But Shaw certainly didn't break as well as SVB did in SVB's last TAR match, so he'd probably have to do a bit better in that regard to have a good chance. Shane's kicking and safety game is probably better, too.

Can someone elaborate on why they would agree to "must push after the break" So, even if you pocket a ball on the break, and have a clear shot at the 1, you still have to push out?

Because each player personally thinks it gives him the edge. It's a gaffe game.

this brings out the best in both players

This is a game Pat Fleming of Accu Stats is putting on. He's a pioneer in the game of pool, obviously this is a better style game in his opinion.

I happen to agree with Pat, this brings out the best in both players.

So, can you answer my question though. If someone breaks, makes a ball and has a shot at the lowest number ball, they still have to push out?

Because the person putting on the EXHIBITION wants it that way. It would probably be much different gambling.

there's a lot more strategy and shot making required.

Yes....or make the ball and call "safe" I would think. It makes the game "pure pool," taking the break out of the equation. The greatest players like to play this way, there's a lot more strategy and shot making required.

Did you say, "probably"?

JCIN has said in the past he lets the players make the rules. He didn't force either of them to use jump cues, they were free to play without.

Killing the break shot

You gonna have to do a lot more talking to convince me that 'mandatory push after the break' is any kind of solution.

It is a fundamental change to the game.

Should tennis take away the serve?
Or maybe golf should change their rules because some drive further or more accurately?

In my opinion, SVB breaks better because he probably breaks 10 times mre than any other player out there (counting practice).

For ears, Bustamonte' s break was legendary.

And now all these talents and skills should be ignored?

Not a fan at this point-

Yep.

I still think the best option is the tennis format.

Best 2 out 3 sets (length of races would be determined by the tournament).

Player 1 breaks every rack in the first set, and player 2 breaks every rack in the second set. If it goes to a third set, it would be alternate break. If the final set goes hill-hill, you must win by 2 games.

Corey Deul

Mark,
Pool took away Corey's soft break.
Why should't we take Shane's break also.
Then it would be Fair.
Just mt Two Cents......
