Lee Brett - Too Nice?

Been watching the Bonus Ball matches where Earl is acting like a ball banger, sharking others and insulting the audience.

I have seen Lee make only a small amount of comments to Earl regarding this behavior. All I can think is "Micaela Tabb would deck Earl in the head if he did that at her event."

Why is Lee not harder on the unsportsmanlike conduct? Some will argue that Earl's behavior makes for an entertaining show, but I can't imagine that WPBL condones it. Earl is even a jerk to Warren and Santos!

Thoughts?

I don't think it is Lee's responsibility to "discipline" the BB team members. That would fall under Larry, since he is the boss, and paying the salaries. Lee seems to be there to keep things moving, announce scores, and keep rule infractions to a minimum. Behavior, imo, would not fall under his domain.

So you feel he is not really a referee? I suppose that's possible. Behavior, to the extent it is unsportsmanlike, is in the domain of the referee. Maybe he's been told to "let the players play."

I missed the last few matches, but when the Earl/JJ argument first started, he helped keep them apart and also said to them both if they kept it up he'd dock points from both of them.

I was wondering what the BB powers did regarding the first episode between JJ and Earl. Obviously nothing was done if Earl is still acting with such disrespect.

No one from bonus ball will ever come out and say that they are letting him be himself for the entertainment value.

But that is exactly the reason they let John McEnroe be himself all those years.

arguements

Once a argument breaks out my game goes to hell in hand basket.
I think it hurts most players game.

They need to set a example out of a couple players that seem to disrupt the game.

Maybe. Or perhaps they could let Earl be Earl to get it on tv so that the supposed victims would keep getting a weekly salary.

Or maybe they could make him play mum pool and the show might still get picked up for tv. There is no way of ever knowing.

I believe they are afraid of earl.

Mike, do you think Earl really cares. He can be playing in the Mosconi Cup and he'll pull
his junk out and wave it at the Brits. If he gets the boot next year, he just has one more thing to rant about in an interview.

BB needs more rivalry and hes just the person to do it.

If the Toronto Sharks pulled their junk out, you'd think its all in the beer we drink up here. It has GMO growth hormones in the barley.

Monsanto is good for some things. Do they not own Pfizer too?

I have no idea what the answer is. I do know it is very un sportsman like conduct .
Who wants to be around any kind of arguments when you are trying to focus on the game.
It almost seems like its part of earls game is to throw off there focus.
I don't know if that is true or not...

I watch pool to enjoy it, not to watch someone loose because I dis like them.

At the same time to many of these threads turn into a hen house .
We have nothing better to do then to talk behind Earl back, when I am a nothing on the pool table, and will never make pro.

It should be like soccer. Yellow and Red cards. Unsportsmanlike conduct falls into that category (yellow). 2 yellows and you're out of the game, and forfeit the matches you were supposed to play in.

... If the Toronto Sharks pulled ...
Toronto Sharks??? You've got to be kidding. Do you know where Toronto is? More like the Toronto Baby Seals.

Google ... google ... google ...

Oops. Sorry. There are sharks in Toronto. Here's one in a City Council meeting:

After the unfortunate incident during and after the Houston match, we have enforced more stricter guidelines for the players to adhere to while playing. We want the players to talk and have some banter with each other as it is good for the game, as long as it doesn't go over the top and make it look like a circus act and not a professional league.

Earl has been warned many times since the incident with Jeremy.

During the 2nd match between New York and Houston, i stopped the match and warned both teams, that a points deduction would be handed out, and both were on a final warning. They then behaved.

During the Pittsburgh match i warned Shaun and Earl, and the subsequently placed Earl on a final warning, were any bad conduct was cue ball in hand for the other team. He then behaved.

I will not tolerate any unsportsmanlike conduct in the arena, as we are a professional league and the players have to act like professionals.

Most of the time, i will have a quiet word to each team if i feel it is getting heated. After the incident with Jeremy and Earl i now have more power to take action.

Hope this answers your question.

Part of this type of acting seems to be what the BB setup is about, at least from what I have read has transpired during the matchings. They want the drama and talking back and forth. Imagine what would have happened to reality TV if the Real World show was just a bunch of nice kids going to the movies and helping eachother with homework. Bonus Ball to a real tournament is what APA is to same, just with higher level play.

Holland, when I first read your idea I thought it was brilliant. Then I realized it can't work that way. If Any player gets out of control in the first match and gets 2 yellows thn the rest ofthat match goes to hell since a player playes in the singles, doubles and team event. This would not be good for anyone who was there to watch or paid for PPV. Just my opinion,

So , how many times has Earl been warned so far? Whats the next number and who is it? Maybe give so many warnings in a so many game period , when reached a suspension. You wanna be pro act like it.
