Lil Joe Villalpando Makes Them Stars.....

Dick, I bet you would know him if you saw him. Joe used to get around real well.. He was petty tough on the bar box back in the day.

I wish I could get some instructins real quick. I'm leavng today and driveing 600 miles to play some 1-pocket. SOmething I never thought I would do again. My wife wants me to go in for psych eval.

If you find a good analyst, send me the info. I'm flying back to Gulfport in November to play in a 32 man one pocket tournament. If I won the tournament (not likely) I might break even. I know you have been playing one pocket almost as long as Dick and I, so we all have some sanity issues. I even staked RA at the track this weekend. Jeez, I'm even sicker than I thought. If we know Ronnie, he has gotten us at one time or another. For some reason, it is just hard for me to say no or take a shot with the guy.

He called me 3 years ago on the 23rd of Decmeber and said he was in Redding and thngs weren't going well. I asked why he was talkng funny and he said he caught a cold and while driveing he rolled down his window and spit and his teeth fell out.

I said Ronnie, you puled this on me 6 months ago and it cost me $200.

Oh well he says, merry Christmas, and hung up.

Have a ball in Gulfport, it is a neat place. Like you I may be lucky to break even here too, but this guy just cashwd a pretty good ticket and seems primed. Plus, yard work is just killing me.

I'll let you know.

Joe Villalpando- aka pooliq spent some time with me recently working on my game. In an hour he helped me work on my bridging, my stance, and 3 rail kicks. I would consider myself a mid level player, but am really trying to get my game to the next level. The advice and knowledge that Joe has shared will definitely help me address some weak spots in my game. He has a real gift for breaking things down, explaining the processes, and just stepping you through it. He is also just a really genuinely nice guy, and very easy to work with. I have never been a strong 3 rail kicker, and with his help I made 4 in a row! You wouldn't believe how much knowledge you can bring out of just one session.

Never met the man, but it sure sounds like "Little Joe" would be where I'd be looking for quality instructions. Only trouble is, I'm trying to save up $30,000.00 so I can take Arty up on his claim to make me, (or anyone with 30K) the "world's greatest one pocket player".
Hmmm, what does Joe charge for lessons ?

Dick
I think Fatboy already took Arty up on that $30k offer. :D

Joe is very sharp

Joe is very sharp and very good at passing on the information he has. Some people can't really explain things well and I have to admit that there are some people that if I had to listen to them for a couple hours or somebody running a router through tile while listening to head banger music for the same two hours . . . OK, I'd just shoot myself but I think everyone gets my point. Joe is easy to listen to and understand.

Aside from that Joe is a good person and fun to talk to. We call each other now and then and it is always a pleasant visit. Wish he was five or six states closer but I'm going to have to make the trip sooner or later, I am wearing out these DVD's. Speaking of DVD's, there is a rumor of a third one out in the fall. I suspect Joe could pre-sell one to every past customer if he wanted to, I haven't heard of anyone being unhappy with his other DVD's.

I doubt anyone has a higher percentage of his students become forces to be reckoned with than Joe does. He turns out monster players, impossible to argue that. Of course I see he kept a pretty one for himself!

Little Joe is a great teacher and a true friend !

He can and will put you on the fast track to improving
your pool knowledge and skill .

Thanks ... Larry

Anybody with a desire to improve their pool game will find great value in Lil Joes DVD's and his personal lessons.

Joe is a really good teacher who watches and listens intensly in order to be able to pass on the world of information he has in the best possible manner. He gets into teaching just like he does playing.. with dogged determination to make the player into a "player".

Lil Joe is a fountain of knowledge wating to be tapped. Do youself a real favor and get ahold of Lil Joe. You'll never regret it.

I second that emotion.

I wonder when Joe is going to be back up our way. I'll have to give him a call.

I am usually not a rude person. Yet, I forgot to give credit to my great friend, Linda "Rackmsuckr" Carter. Bless you girl.

Linda, did all the foot work in digging up the cover and inside information on Kris' big win back in 1986. I did thank Linda but not here on this thread as I should have. You are the best, girl. IOU for sure. Linda informs me that her friend, Shari Stauch, deserves credit also for digging up the article. I also thank you, Shari.....
Hey Linda! Hey Shari! (Almost 15 yrs later!)

Hey Linda! Hey Shari! (Almost 15 yrs later!)

Glad to see you here ma'am! A happy and sad thread reading back over it. A lot of good people in the thread, a lot of them gone now. Ten or fifteen years have been brutal on my old friends!

Four messages in almost nine years, aren't you worried about overexposure? In case you are curious why I am posting, no good reason. We haven't met but I enjoyed you bringing this old thread back to life. Think I will call or e-mail Joe.

What exactly is a "tireless worker?"
Lol.
Will never forget you and Taco Joe in Missoula. He ran rack after rack after rack practicing with you. You were not enjoying it. He said most people would give their left nut for that kind of competition. You responded "I don't have a left nut" . Sounds like the experience lead to better things for you in pool. Joe helped my game greatly that week between Kalispell and Missoula.
His help got me to third place in the tourney and second place calcutta cash. Take care Kris. Roger Pettit

Hemicudas, who began this thread nearly 15 years and is gone from our midst for many years, is one of the best ever posters on this forum. I miss him.
He was one of the best ever on AZB. He made a few short videos too. I really miss him. I was thinking about him a few days ago reading some old threads. I miss JohnnyT as well.

I miss Dollar Bill too. We talked a good bit and didn't really live that far apart, less than 200 miles, sometimes not much over a hundred. Seemed like plenty of time and then time had ran out.

I think I met Tom Ferry many years ago and talked to him a little. I didn't verify, another who was here one day and gone the next.

What happened to Smokey? Another good guy. It was funny when he would get all fired up and come on the forum raising cane about something that he thought was unfair to someone else.

We could start a thread and do a last of the year/first of the year role call of those once on the forum that are gone but not forgotten or just good folks from around pool in general.

An update on some alive but gone for one reason or another would be nice too. We have page after page of posters that are still kicking that are gone but not forgotten.

I've been trying to contact Joe about purchasing some DVDs but haven't gotten a response to the e-mails. Does anyone have current contact information for him?
