Linds was gunned down...

In no way am I an expert on the Philippines, But I do have ties to the Philippines. I think what people of Western Civilization have to realize is the great differences in Asian Culture, Politics and Economics. One such example in business might be "Third Party Commissions" a standard business practice in the Philippines. This is a Fee or commission paid by the purchaser to the salesman or rep of a company above and be on the price of goods purchased. TPC payment might go be on just the Salesman if you want to purchase certain products. A taxi driver working for an owner will get that taxi after working for the owner for 7 years etc etc. There are so many things that differ from western civilization. We can not judge only recognize those differences.

Does this mean the Philippines is a dangerous place to go. I sure wouldn't want to end up in a Dark alley in Harlem, But that doesn't mean I won't go to NYC.

So how does this "TPC" justify killing and trying to kill someone?

It doesn't justify any thing. I was only trying to point out differences in the cultures. Violence is nothing new in many cultures including America. But in certain cultures it is tolerated more than others. Just look at the Aquino assassination semi caught on Tape by International Media and for told that he would never set foot on Philippine soil alive. IMHO In many ways the Philippines is like the American west of the 1880's and the range war between the cattle barons and the dirt farmers. Philippine culture is centered around strong Family strength by a large numbers of family members.

I was born in the Philippines but both parents were American Citizens born in America. I have lived most of my life in America but I have also spend time living and working in the Philippines as an adult. BTW the Philippines was under Marshal Law at that time and I still don't fully understand Philippine culture or politics.

Was that during the Marcos regime??

I Personally left the Philippines in 1981 after the lifting of Martial Law during the Marco's and pro American era. As much as I love the Philippines I have not been back since. However I sent my children and their mother to live one year and attend school in 1995-1996. BTW they had to speak only Tagalog and now write it also. I did this so my children could experience a culture much different than America and of their heritage. They lived in a area that was Rice farm land and very much a working class existent. Both my children are professionals now making a very nice livings and I credit that on their Philippine experience. I feel Philippine family values of working hard and getting an education are great. My Children have made several trip back to the Philippines since then and my Now Ex wife has contributed greatly to her home town and to the benefit of her friends and neighbors.

But to really answer your question, I have not followed Philippine politics or current events. Therefore I may be over stepping myself by posting in this thread.

My prayers are with you Linds. You and your best friend Edwin (Bandido) will have your revenge, maybe not in this lifetime, but in the afterlife...

???????????????

Bump again. Anyone??? Or have I missed an update thread somewhere else?

Its a total shame that this game has went from that, a game, to seeing the PI's best cuemaker and possibly one of the best ever period to be shot down with his child in his arms (what a coward!!!). Now we have Linds getting shot all over some words and a game. I love pool as its my only sport I can play anymore because of health, but I would not want to die for it as Linds said in his post where he tried to sell everything he had.

R.I.P. Edwin Reyes and hopefully we wont have to say the same about Linds.

Somebody give us an update!

Maybe,
Just maybe, the people who know Linds status do not want to post his status. It might very well be a request from Linds himself. When those who are close to Linds want to post, they will. Until then, let's give them some breathing room and hope that he is recovering.

Perhaps the less said on this thread, the better. I don't know anything from anything and I have no pipeline to the Philippines. This is the best I can do.

I know nothing new

I know nothing new and if I did I wouldn't post about it. People close to Linds are trying to keep his profile lower than low. I respectfully suggest that they understand his situation better than we do and know what is best for Linds, his friends, and family.
