On a bar box (any brand) often you will have BIH after the break from a scratch or BIH early in the game when most or all of the balls are still on the table. The 1-ball is at the short rail at one end of the table and the 2-ball is at the other end rail. Many times I see players, especially players that play mostly on 9’ tables take BIH, make the 1-ball in the closest pocket and go one, two, or three rail through all the balls on the table to get to the other short rail.
Often the 1-ball has a clear path to one of the down-table corner pockets. With BIH if the 1-ball goes the QB can follow w/o any obstacle balls to run into. I think some players are so use to taking the easy shot on the 1-ball instead of the long shot down table. There are really no long shots on a bar box and it’s a lot easier to control the QB with follow. If this seems like Captain Obvious to you just watch a BB stream or watch players live and see how many play the one in the closest corner and hit a ball going down table or miss position over/under trying to go the rails way.
