When the "Powers-That Be" decided to put Joey A and Little Joe Villalpando together to do the play-by-play of the one pocket at Galveston a new pinacle was set. Trememdous jobs by both guys. A tip of the cap to you both and hope that you guys get more gigs together........$Bill

I didn't get the chance to hear "Little Joe," but I did hear JoeyA in several instances.

He does, in fact, have an excellent voice for broadcast. His diction is perfect, knows the game, and best of all, he's "got no dog in this fight" -- meaning no politics -- so to speak, telling it like it is, objectively.

There's a new wave of pool broadcasters on the horizon. Sheesh, I remember JoeyA when he was merely a lowly member of the Gang of 10. :grin-square:

My, my, you've come a long way, JoeyA. :ok:

I only heard JoeyA and Jay Helfert commentate, and will freely admit they were excellent! It was a treat to listen to them adroitly analyze the shots. So often when I watch stream it's 9 or 10 ball, and there's either no commentary, or the commentary there is, is not following the play very closely. 9 or 10 ball is a different animal, but...

And sure, sometimes having 28 users bellowing 60 wpm on chat is fine, but sometimes I really want to follow the match play.

Hey $$ Bill, tried to holler at you in a stream the other day but you missed it I guess .. Hope all is good for you and yours... Thanx, Howard in NE Ms

I watched a little bit of one of the matches and didn't know Little Joe was going to be one of the announcers but as soon as he spoke I realized who it was and that made me want to watch more of the match just to get some of his insight. I highly respect Little Joe and would love to be able to get a few lessons from him sometime in the future. I have his instructional videos and they are very well done.

When I first heard Joey, I thought it was Jim Mataya/calmed down....they sound very similar.

Yes they did a hell of a job together congrats to you both! I also thought Hillbilly and Jay were both good together last night. Hillbilly has a wealth of knowledge and will share with anyone:smile:

Great to see you posting, you have been badly missed around here!

The only things wrong with Joe and Joey's commentary was that the match was too short and they didn't talk nearly enough! I don't think it is Joe's nature to talk much but he his super knowledgeable and I was hoping for a little more from him. He and Joey are old friends as I'm sure you know and they were very comfortable in the booth together. Joey has been fantastic in the booth all week regardless of who he was paired with and I'd like to see a lot more of him and Joe. I didn't hear if Joe's new DVD was out. If it isn't, it is due anytime now.

I think Joey is an excellent poster here and definitely a well respected member; however, from the start of Galveston it has appeared pretty apparent that he definitely has a "dog in this fight," like being a commentator (from a political perspective).

Hey Hemi
Your ole buddy Yoba here. Glad to see you are doing well.
Joey A has been doing real well and is a refreshing face in these parts as far as commentators are concerned. I do think he should listen to the Efren/Shannon game again. Finding your own voice is a hard thing to do when commenting on a match. Incardone is an ole pro and it was good to hear Joey keep up with him.
