That's great news! I'm sure Mark will do a first rate job! :happydance::happydance::happydance:

Well there you have it  --- Congrats Mark.

They couldn't have made a finer choice.

This actually get's me excited for the MC again. I can't think of a better captain and am stoked that he has full control over team member selection as well. This is a great step moving forward for team USA. Congrats to Mark!

Bazinga! 2013 wasnt the best year. This announcment is a good start to 2014. Can't wait til MC now. :)

I am really happy for Mark. I do not think there is a better person in all of pool.

Congrats, Mark. You deserve this, and everyone in St. Louis is pulling for you.

This is cool; great news and to see that he has control over the selection of players ! yea..

Best Thing Possible

Awesome. I can't think of a better person. Maybe he can have Jerry Breisath be a Asst Coach. Never been before but I will seriously consider now.

Rh,
I will see you there (I am the self-appointed team physician :):))!!!!!!!

I also think it is a great choice. Mark is doing this not for fame, notoriety, or money; but rather for love of the sport and intense desire to improve the image and popularity of the sport itself. He wants to promote the ideals of sportsmanship, professionalism, and constant pursuit of excellence. Along with his program at Lindenwood, the Cup will be an ideal place to exhibit those virtues, and make an impression on the public

He has a LOT of new and exciting ideas for team selection and training and exhibitions/clinics; I think people will be really surprised and pleased with them if he can make them happen. I personally CAN'T WAIT for December!!!!!

Nice Post....I think Mark is a great choice, and I look forward to seeing the MC!

Awesome new for the US team and the pool world. I can assure you the Americans will come better prepared and will play with class and professionalism with Mark at the helm.

Congrats Mark! USA... USA... USA!!!

I would not want to be in Mark's shoes with every American pro knowing he can choose the team. I can give you a list of at least ten Americans who are personally convinced they belong on the team. I fear the pressure on him will be unrelenting.

But I agree he is a great choice.

I agree with both your observations. :)

Having the coach pick the team is a new strategy for the Mosconi Cup process. I wonder if the next Team USA will be representative of the so-called "professional pool player" in America.
