Best Cue maker in Maryland

I have used a scruggs for about 5 years and am very happy with it. I have never used any of the other cues so I cannot judge them. Cochran is a moot point since he has passed away. I have heard good things about Black Boar and Phillipi
 
Hmmm

Danny Janes who taught Tim Scruggs to make cues is not on the list? A Cuemakers HOF member.
 
Very limited poll, however voted given the "short list".

All other things given, Black Boar.
 
Sorry no dissrespect to any of those other cue makers in MD. Im a young guy and did not know about some of them being from MD. I have owned or do own the cues in the list I posted. I guess Md is a hot bed of cue makers?????
 
relatively unkown cuemaker except in southern maryland is aphelps. he doesnt try very hard to get his stuff out there, but he is doing REALLY nice work.

I had a shaft made by him. I like it better than ob's and predators. there are examples on the site of some of his work.

Two of these guys aren't even making cues anymore.

You left out a few names like Mike Capone, Mike Lambros and perhaps the biggest of all... Tony Scianella, who shouldn't even be lumped into a category with the three guys you named who actually are still making cues.

i dont know about that COCKRAN GUY......but that MC sure made a great cue and will be missed....
 
A more accurate list of Maryland cue makers would be:

Black Boar (Tony Scianella)
Mike Capone
Bob Frey
Joss Cues (Dan Janes)
Mike Lambros
Gene Newport
Phillipi Cues
Leon Sly

Tim Scruggs and the late Mike Cochran are no longer active.

I think I still may have missed one or two other cue makers in Western Maryland.
