Matchroom Premier League Pool (PLP) (14-21 Feb2022), nineball, 9ft, Winner $20K

Every year at Mosconi time, I argue with those who say "anything can happen in a race to five" on the basis that, while it's true, it's not true if you play enough races to five ... and so it has been at both the Mosconi Cup and the PLP event.

Each player has now played 15 races to five, and the four that stand at the top of the table (Filler, SVB, Ouschan and Shaw) have an average Fargo of about 825. This format and this equipment made sure the cream rose to the top.

This event is now moving into its business end and only the truly deserving will continue to advance. It should make for some great viewing, and we are sure to have a great champion.
The problem with round robin is dead matches. This is a good format because there are fewer dead matches as they are fighting for 10th, 6th and then 4th place. I agree 100% about the "business end" - I've always been a big fan of sporting competitions that reward both season/tournament long and season/tournament end form.

Yeah, the prize money gradations keep it all on the level for the most part. Every rack counts as tiebreakers can and will decide some of the payouts to those who fail to reach the semifinals.

Those already having ten wins have the inside track to the semifinals, and that's as it should be.

Day 6
STAGE 2 (10 players Round Robin)

Table 2 Live now SVB v Sky
Table 1 Live now Alcaide v FSR

2 Top 4 matches today (Albin v SVB , Shaw v SVB) on Table 1 in evening session.
Each play will play 9 matches over 2 days today and tomorrow.
Schedule is lopsided for FSR, Alcaide and Omar. FSR and Alcaide have to play 6 matches today while Omar has to play 6 matches tomorrow

Would have been nice to see Sky close out his match with Shaw. He played great (a little lucky) .... until that last 6 ball. Lot's of time left. Hope he continues his stellar play.

This is probably the best break of this event. On the hill 4-1 vs Omar, FSR makes 5 balls including golden break

In the morning session, FSR was on fire winning 4 matches in row beating Filler, Albin, Alcaide. Omar.
On other hand, his countryman Alcaide also on fire except he is going down in flames losing 3 matches in a row.

I like the way they use table 2 to mix things up. For example, switching over to the other table if something significant is happening or during the racking. They do a pretty good job of reducing downtime.
Yeah, except for the 3 minutes it takes some of these refs to rack the balls

Sky is on 5 match winning streak. 15 points now and 2 matches on hand almost through to next stage.

On other hand, SVB is in danger of elimination with 13 points. Has 3 tough matches -now playing FSR and in evening session Filler and Shaw. He needs to win all 3 to avoid elimination. Winning 2 matches will likely go to tiebreaker -racks diff, racks won against bunch of other players

He is playing fantastic right now also.

I wish on the stream table they showed how many points have been won thus far, instead of the player ranking. It seems much more relevant to me.

Filler vs Shane playing now on Dazn. Shane dogged his brains out on the 1 in the first game after a perfect break, but came back and now leads the match 2-1.
