Me and Fatboy

Jay H. here logging in on Fatboy's account.

Boy, will he be surprised when he wakes up and sees this. As you probably know, I'm staying at his house during the WSOP. I start play today at Noon, me and 4,000 other hopefuls. Can you imagine, a $1,500 tourney with 4,000 players! The purse will be nearly $6,000,000, with a first prize approaching ONE MILLION! How can I not like that?

But now, back to pool. Yesterday Fatboy starts asking me to play, and I keep stalling him. I'm trying to stay focused on poker. I finally tell him if he really wants to play, I'll do it. I tell him I'll meet him in the poolroom in 30 minutes. I go back to my room, clean up and head to the poolroom at his house. I have a nice Szamboti cue that he's loaned me but I try playing with a CueTec that is sitting in his cue rack. MISTAKE #1!

Pretty soon Fatboy saunters in and begins to warm up. He wants to play Eight Ball naturally. It's his best game, and maybe my worst, although I can play it okay on a bar table. He wants to play a Race To Seven, and I want to go only to Five. We compromise and go to Seven. :D
There is a small wager involved also. :)

I start out using the CueTec. What a clunker this cue is. How did Earl do it? I can barely draw the ball and I can't feel anything. At 3-3 I change cues back to the Szam. Now, I can at least play a shot or two. I get ahead 5-3 and then 6-4. Fats wins the next game and has a shot to tie the match at six, but dogs a ball. I escape literally, winning 7-5. It was more of a workout than I wanted.

I have to say this, the Fatman is playing better. For the first time, he really put some heat on me. I didn't have to win this set. He is finally beginning to show flashes of his old form, when he was scuffling around with Rude Dog (John Morton). If he ever gets his back situation handled, I may have to give up Eight Ball with him. Fatboy has a nice solid stroke, and makes balls easily now, even from distance. And he put me in a few good traps.

Good shooting Fatboy! Thanks for the gift! :)

Looks like this went on under Fatboy's name and not mine. It's Jay here!

Great post. Just one thing - when you post from Eric's computer, it's a good idea to log Fatboy out before you post. You've now ruined his reputation by making a post that is free of all spelling errors.

Good luck in the WSOP.

GL in the tournament Jay.

You know......this had all of the makings of a great prank on FB. I can see him waking up and trying to recall making a post and wondering why he can't remember.:)

Playing wih a CueTec?

Jay, I have to admire you for admitting that you played even a few games with a CueTec cue.:D Thank goodness you won the set or we would have to listen to Eric's bragging about beating you for days. I think I just missed seeing you on Friday and wanted to wish you the best of luck in the WSOP. So now I am wishing you the best of luck in the WSOP!:)

You do realize

Even though you didn't intend to, you just knocked Fatboy. LOL. {Almost beating an old road-dog like you}
Best of luck to you in the WSOP Jay. If you win the BIG $$$$$$, don't jump ship and desert the forum.

your welcome, ah i missed the 12 ball byjust a little bit and should have went 5-5 racet to 2 but I missed and it put me needing to win 3 in a row, I call that the swing game, I didnt dog that ball, I missed it. I did dog a few shots last night for sure. But In my mind dogging a ball is when you fol dunder pressure or your heart skips a beat when you pull the trigger and you miss real bad, fialing to make the shot because of some head trip or external reason. That wasnt the case, i wasnt thinking of the score or feeling any pressure, I didnt rush it(I dont think) it just felt like A simple miss. in either case it felt good to actually play a little again,

I really want Jay to win big at the WSOP so I can rob him, at banks his own self proclaimed best game. ;) ( i like his 1 hole game better) Seriously Jay can play some poker and he has a good chance to cash in any tournment he enters.

Afer Jay left the poolroom I playd my friend Robert who I have been playing with the past 2 weeks, when robert first started out he played bad, didnt even show any signs of experience playing but knows a fair bit about pool, I have been giving him the 5 and the pop, I was 100% out of stroke when we started he was too, I beat him a couple sets with that spot lost more that I won but was close a number of times, I let him use a Cuetec but noticed he could ues a cue so I loaned him a Szam same on Jay uses, and he played better right away-a good cue awalys helps. Its amazing how much my friend improved this past 2-3 weeks, I still think I can get there with the 5 and the pop but its gonna be tough, I played him after Jay last night and caught a gear-first time in months, it felt great. I smashed him 9-3 should have been 9-1 but I got sleepy and let up after he won 1 game I wanted to pitch a shutout. 9-0. I hope I can keep playing, the morphine is helping alot, it dosent get me high, it just takes the edge off the pain, if I take to much i just sleep.

I hope I dont get to play Jay again, because if I do that means he got knocked out of the poker tournment.

Funny thing about me and 8ball, I laughed at it for years and played 9b, snooker and 1P, for years, then 2 Mexican champions came through vegas in 92 or 93 and robbed everybody here in Vegas(almost), It was the first time in years I saw anyone come to Vegas and stay 2 weeks and beat alot of local players and leave winners, Vegas was a trap for road men back then, i dont know about now. I watched them(they played 8 ball real good) and said yeah I could play that game, so I played a little, beat a guy who could have easyle gave me the 6 playing 9ball, i retired from pool after that, but remembered that I could play a little 8ball, so now I do and like it, funny how that works.

Jay, How many you gonna enter? You gonna up the 10k for the main event? HEH- will enjoy living vicariously through Jay's WSOP experiences

Craig...The only problem with that scenario, is that there AREN'T 4000 poolplayers who would even have $1500 for an entry fee...let alone be willing to post it! This has been proven over and over...high dollar entry fees do not attract enough players to even hold the tournament!

A pool tournament with 4000 players and an entry of $1500.00...I'd hit it.

Jay, I'm confused if you wanted to race to five and Fatboy wanted to go to seven how is going to seven a compromise? Philw

Any news on how Jay is doing in the WSOP?

The word is

that these three

were asking for

the nuts

and

were not allowed to play.
