Mike Bender cues - Opinions Please

Mike Bender Cues

Mike Bender cues play very well. They are very efficient and the feel is solid. One the down side they are very expensive for what you get but they are worth it. The attention to detail is outstanding.

You can't go wrong the a Mike Bender cue.

Structurally they are as near perfect as can be with cues. The hit is fairly stiff with great feel, and he generally nails the balance just right so they are comfortable to use. Unless you are a Mooch fan, you'll not be dissapointed with a Bender.

John Wright let me hit some balls with one about a decade ago...maybe more. I wish I could give you some details, but I honestly can't remember much about the cue...I was overwhelmed by Dallas West standing over me while I shot. :O

My friend $takehor$e has one on AZ for sale that is AMAZING!!! It is 99%+ and he is wanting something like $1550 or something. He showed it to some dealers and they said it was $2K+ cue!

I really like the cue, obviously and would like to see one of AZ brothers get it.

In response to your original request, I had an Omega/dpk cue and it was a great looking, great balance, but the shaft taper was different for me. I am not sure if the Bender cues have the same taper as the Omega/dpk cues but there is a difference than other cues.

Ask $takehor$e to sent you pics asap. He is selling it to cheap, and I told him so but he is like my daughters and hears me but sometimes doesnt listen....

A friend in NY who is now deceased had one. Very nice cue, four ebony points into purple heart, IIRC. Ivory diamonds in the points and the butt sleeve. Played nice, too.

I thought he was one of your daughters????

Benders are nice you will like it.

My very good friend has 2 Mike Bender cues. The most recent of the 2 cues arrived this past December after only a 7 month wait. Bender cues are nothing less than...PERFECT! The balance is dead on. The hit....is like no other. It feels as if it is a one piece cue!!! The points, veneers, box work is just impecable. He even used a calf skin wrap for my friend's cue that is just outstanding. You are considering the best of possible cue makers to get the perfect all around 'stick'. Good Luck!!

I'm thinking about a bender cue. Can i get some opinions on them from you guys.

Thanks,

I LOVE my Bender. His work is truly artwork.

His cues are not cheap but that is one of the reasons I went with him.

Compare the prices of his used cues to other makers and you'll see his cues hold their value better than some other cuemakers asking nearly the same price.

My cousin has one of his cues and that thing is amazing. I forget what wood combo it is, havent seen it in over a year but when I played with it, it felt great. sorry for the half assed review, but yeah that cue was nice.

Contact Russ Murphy,mn

Call SHOOTERS billiards in Minnesota, ask For RUSS MURPHY'S phone number- He has sold BENDERS for yrs. He has many cues and exclusive propeller models, made for Russ. RUSS AND HIS SON MAKE BENDERS PIN. HE ALSO MAKES UNIQUE JOINT PROTECTORS. mark

Benders are great cues. They are about the same in price as any other cue with a reputation. He does recuts on his points and favors points in multiples of 5 instead of 4. His cues may be advertised as 15 points where other cues would be 5 points with 2 veneers. Most of his cues are wood to wood joint and have the railroad rings. His linen wrap is very smooth. Some will say that they favor them over a SW

Look at Indy Cue to get a idea of what Benders are selling for.

I have seen some for a good price lately in the For Sale section.

Benders are great cues. Mike is one of three David Paul Kersenbrock's (DPK) proteges, the other two being Jerry Franklin (Southwest cues) and Ed Young. All masters. I play with a Bender sneaky pete (he made only 12) and the spine of the shaft lines up perfectly with the spine of the butt for an extremely solid hit with lots of feel. I was also fortunate enough to have a shaft made by Kersenbrock for the pete that I sometimes use when I'm feelin' it! If you are ordering a new Bender, be aware that the resale market for cues is very soft right now and some really strong deals can be had on used ones. Enjoy!

Bender cues are nice cues. Well built very playable. Not cheap, but you get quality. Usually when it comes to cues you get what you pay for.

I didn't bump this 13 year-old thread that Rayjay enabled, but his comment (red-fonted by me) caused me to wonder: how the heck does someone find/establish the spine of the cue's butt portion?

Arnaldo ~ Obviously above my pay grade.

Ditto on the 13-yr old post, but …

Mike Bender was not a DPK protogé. Not even close.
