Mitch Ellerman Ripped Off at Galveston Tournament

No disrespect intended towards anyone, but I believe that Ashley Furniture is a lower end retailer and doubt whether they even carry a $8K diding room set.

Sounds fishy to me.

Jim

I think you might want to walk all the way into the store, they are anything but cheap. Just a table and 4 chairs cost me $2000. It's all real wood. Sofa was close to $2000 each and love seat was $1400.

This is really unfortunate news. I am not sure exactly how much money was really raised in this raffle, tho.

However, that is not the point. The point is they owe the dining room set or a compromise to Mitch. I hope this works out for him. Glad you started this thread on his behalf to inform us of this.

Boycott Ashley Furniture!! IMHO reporting Ashley Furniture to the Better Business Bureau has about as much weight as think WWE Wrestling is the Real Deal Wrestling.

Mitch Ellerman's raffle win captured on camera in Immonen vs. Kiamco 10-ball match

Well, I was not sure of when to post it but with Mitchs okay I decided it would be best. Well most of us know Ashley Furniture was giving away furniture items as part of the raffle taking place at Galveston. Mitch won the dining room set valued at $8,000. He has been given nothing but a run around about it and I would like to help him resolve this. If you have a raffle such as this where lots of monies were collected and someone wins, you give them there prize and that is that.

Lenny:

Not sure if this helps the cause, but Mitch's raffle win was actually caught on camera in one of the matches, specifically the Mika Immonen vs. Warren Kiamco 10-ball finals match, and was announced by today's Birthday Girl herself, Cris DeLaGarza:

(I added a 150-second "jump ahead" stub onto the end of the above URL, to take you right to it. Please note that the sound was missing/muted from the beginning of the video all the way up to that point my "jump ahead" stub takes you to.)

I hope this helps in any way/shape/form!

that is great thanks for posting that I actually wasn't around when they did the drawing.

The guy that ran the raffle negotiated the deal between me and the buyer.I actually agreed to the amount that was offered to me and I was to be paid within 2 weeks. The check has never arrived and the buyer has never returned any of my phone calls. The only time I got the buyer on the phone is when I called from a land line in Florida and they did admit to me on having my furniture. The guy that ran the raffle has returned all of my calls and emails and has been trying to help me get the funds. I don't want to put the buyers name out there just yet because I still have hope with all the people involved now they will do the right thing and send me my money.

Was Mitch going to take his set of furniture? I bet I know where it is and who has it.

I don't think he would take the furniture but rather the money. He doesn't have a job and just loves to play pool!

Yes but I think Lenny posted that he didn't like the offer that was made. From what I gathered Ashley donated the furniture and that is where there involvement ended.

So if the furniture was at the tournament then the question is why did the winner of it get it, and make arrangement to get it to his home?

Maybe Cris, JoeyA of the internet pool forums, or JR Calvert could help Mitch and put him in touch with the promoters of Galveston. It seems that there is confusion on who has the items and this has turned into a he said/she said.

He was told that he won $8000 worth of furniture. The offer they made after numerous contacts was $1000.

This is a messy trail from the info we have here. Ashley may in fact have nothing to do with this any longer and if that's the case they're getting a bum rap here.

Did this promo furniture come from a local Ashley distributor? Did some promoter buy it from an independent dealer? ALL Ashley outlets are INDEPENDENT btw. Who's responsible here? It's not clear to me.

Other cattle probes that can work:

- attorney general
- local consumer oriented media. Ex. "News 2 On Your Side"

And as mentioned, court. But $8k is over the limit for small claims, in my area anyway.

Good luck to Mitch and boradriver, don't give up easy!
