I heard on Runout Radio.com that Monica wants to play Karen or Allison a 10 ahead set. I have heard she plays a notch higher for the $$ head to head. Johnnyt

you know i've heard people tell me this, but the only time i've been around her, she didn't want to match up with anyone(notably one of the people who asked her to play was Tony Ruberto). of course she did have trouble playing on our slow cloth, but most of the LST/WPBA players do. they just don't have the power in their strokes to move in mud.LOL i would like to see her in some action, to see where her game goes! needless to say she is a very nice, and friendly lady, who seemed very down to earth!...Jeremy

I have known Monica for a long time and have seen her come into her own in the pool world. Monica plays strong. She fights very hard for the chedder as well. Depending on the equipment, I think she will give Karen a run for her money in an ahead set. JMO.

I might pay a dollar or three to see Monica vs. Karen in a mud wrestling contest.

I know Monica fairly well, and I really like her as a person and a player as well. When I watch her play I can see the championship quality that she has. She's very close to to busting loose and showing the world what she can do.Monica has a lot of heart ,and determination, plus she plays extremely hard. But I don't know if challenging Karen, and Allison is beneficial to her at this time. I'm not saying that she can't win ,she certainly has the tools. My suggestion to Monica is,continue to play hard with the heart and determination that you have ,and soon you will make a statement on the tournament trail, and I feel that is what she really wants. You know you can do it ,I know you can do it , just do it.

I know Monica pretty well...both as a friend and as a competitor. She plays great in the tournament arena...but I know first-hand what she can do in a gambling session. Monica can run-out with the best of them. And knowing her the way I do, I would bet that she feels she'd have the advantage on older cloth, in a pool room atmosphere, and playing a long session. Now whether she actually has the advantage....that is a matter of opinion. But if she FEELS she is the favorite in that match-up, then she already has a bigger advantage than if she feels the conditions favor her opponent. At that level of play, the mental edge could be the deciding factor in a match.

I wouldn't bet on this match...mostly because I don't like betting the rail. But I hope you naysayers really here what I am saying....because even though I wouldn't bet on Monica (because I don't bet side action)...I definitely wouldn't bet against her!!!! :D

I agree with you Billy. I think that challenging either Karen or Allison like this at this point in Monica's career would be very dangerous and very distracting if the outcome didn't turn out right for her. In my book, she's a champ - but she still has a little more to go to get her over that hump - and when she gets there - look out!

What? Monica can only win! If she loses, it's the outcome everyone expects and it'll be forgotten in a week. If she wins, she's going to get a windfall of attention. I mean, whole world won't stop talking about it!

The fear might be: What happens to her mental game if she dogs it?

I hope you are kidding.

If you're serious, remind me to not take you to Hooters.

I said a dollar or three. You wouldn't want to see two decent women pool players duking it out in a mud pit? Also, Monica took us home one night when we were too drunk to drive and she use to be semi-attractive. At least on the scale that I use to go by. lol

Maybe, maybe not. Karen and Allison aren't really known for playing high stakes games in a gambling/pool hall environment, so I doubt the whole world would be on edge if she won. I would expect Monica to win against both of them under those terms a good majority of the time - which brings us back to what BI said in his post - for what? Monica can only hurt herself if she isn't successful. IMO she should concentrate more on players like GYK, Jasmin Ouschan, and Xiaoting Pan who will be there to challenge her again and again once Allison and Karen pass the baton. I think those are better matchups and would help her more than matching up with Allison and Karen.

Really good analysis here, by someone who is battling all the time against these other women.

Like Melissa, I really like Monica if they decided to get down on the table and go at it. Monica is a scrapper. I don't see a match like this happening though. I think both Allison and Karen are content with the position they have in the Pool world. If Monica wants these two scalps, she will have to do it in a tournament format.

On the other hand, if you are talking One Pocket, Monica is a big favorite over all the women with the exception of Vivian and Jeanette. I'd pay money to see these three play some high dollar One Pocket. I can't think of a fourth women who belongs in this group.
