AzHousePro said:Monica did not make an open $$ challenge. She commented that the top female players don't get to play the other top female players enough times to get comfortable playing them. Then she commented that she would like to play a 10 ahead set with Allison or Karen. It was not an open challenge for anyone to call her up and set up the game.

I don't plan on being at Capones but would have liked to. I will be going out of town just after those dates for quite a while so I want to stay home with my family. Next time I'm down say "Hi"Blackjack said:It definitely shows! Tony is one of the best out there! Will you be at the event next month at Capone's? Make it 3 in a row!

JAM said:I remember Frankie Hernandez asking Karen Corr why she likes to play on the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour so much, and her response was that she believed that playing in "open" events helps to strengthen her game. What say you?![]()

monica said:Absolutely. I agree with him. After you shell out a lot of cash you stop doing a lot of those careless mistakes or going for stupid shots. You get tired of paying off. I think that lesson would work for anyone.
JAM said:Most people know that Karen Corr does not gamble at pool, at least that's what Julie Kelly told me at a Joss tournament. So I did not consider the comment as an "open challenge. Julie, on the other hand, is a different story! I've never seen her gamble, but she has bought herself in calcuttas before.![]()

monica said:Man, what a fuss this has created. GO USA !
monica said:Line is a great player and is playing better than she ever did on tour in my opinion. I wish she would come back and compete in the US. I don't know of any either. A lot of the younger generation US players do as well as some of the asian players. I suspect this is one reason why the level of play is going up. Also more of these girls play in open events with the great men players.
frankwhite said:I have a question, how come a female player that lets say wins a qualifier for the WPBA is considered a pro.
Over the years I have read or heard a many of stories about "C" or "B" class female players considering themselves professional pool players. I really could never understand this concept. Please no negative replys, this just has been on my mind for quite some time now.
AzHousePro said:Frank, a player may consider themselves a pro because they won a qualifier and got to play in a pro event, but the WPBA has a very strict policy for what they consider a 'touring pro'.
The last I heard, a player trying to qualify for the tour had to finish in the top half of four events in a calendar year in order to be a 'touring pro'.
I had heard that they might tweak this system, but I don't know if they have or not.
