Morakami tips question

Buy Ultraskins. These tips are the very best you can buy in an economy tip. I have them on all my house cues. They are easy to cut down and burnish. They don't get hard. The soft to me play a lot like kamuis

Tips

Ultra skins sell for what $2.50 To $3.00. How good of a tip do you think it is for $2.50 the reason repair guys love them and talk them up so much is because they simply make more off them. There are far better tips out there for a reasonable price . But a quality not junk you will be more happy in the end. I have tried them more then once and would not stock them even if I got them for free and my profit was 100%

Ultraskins

I wouldn't trade my Ultraskin for 5 of any other shooting tip. I have had and

worn out 2 already.

I do like Samsara break tips too and I've heard a few people

talk them down as well.

Maybe I'm the one here who's f'ed up since l like both of them and

a lot of people seem not to like them

Excuse me???????????????? Your logic says the more you pay the better it will be. The Cue Repair people live from the reputation of work done and quality of products used. Out of a whole cue the player is probably the most finiky about the tip. Do an AZB Search of Ultraskin and UltraSkins. Than do a Google search on UltraSkin Cue Tip review.

How much do you think Pig Skin cost? Do you feel I have 20 executives that have to make big pay checks from the tips?????????????

I can tell you now it does not cost that much more than a Triangle or LePro to make in Quantity.

Disclaimer: Sorry to post in thread but that info on my tips is untrue to say the least.

UltraSkin

I've been using UltraSkin Medium for 3 years or so on my playing cue. I personally like them better than Kamui. I've had at least 10 players have me remove their Kamui and install an UltraSkin, and they have all preferred the UltraSkin. I stock about 15 varieties of tips, and can get any tip on the market in about 2 business days, but no other tip sells faster.

I'm not knocking the Kamui, they are a good tip, but they are not the only game in town.

If the ultraskins where all that , Why don't they sell for more, Don't tell me your selling them for $2.50 - $3.00 because your just a nice guy, If you could sell them for lets say $10-$15, You know you would and if you would not then that's just a stupid business move, The fact of the matter is they are cheep tips period, Plane and simple. Like I said I would not stock them even if I got them for free and my profits where 100% on them, I think I have maybe $2,000 worth of tip inventory and could put anything I want on my cue, An ultraskin would be the very last tip I would ever use and I tell all my customers and who ever asked the same thing. You simply can not compare an ultraskin to a G-2 or a Kamui, or a Zan, sure they are a lot less money but there is a reason why. End of story, I'm not hear to have a pissing contest with anyone, Just saying what I believe to be true, I have installed them and don't like the way they cut and burnish at all, and needless to say I don't like the way they play at all but then again what can you really expect from a $2.00 Tip.

Ultra skins

If it walks like a duck and it quacks it just might be found in a Chinese restaurant on Christmas Day. Even though it no longer walks or quacks,it would still be considered by most pool players to be in fact a duck.

Just because one duck might quack louder or have a bigger bankroll then another duck, it does not necessarily follow that it would be a better pool player or in fact play

I like a number of other posters like the ultraskin tips.

IMO, the Ultra's cut almost as nice as Kamui. I find your logic that just because something's price isn't high means it is crap.. With that reasoning, if Tom raised his prices to be even with Kamui then they would be just as good....

I also defy you to find a single person in the world who didn't wish the Kamui's, G2's..ect. weren't CHEAPER.

All these things being said, your opinion seems to take on a personal note...

Meanwhile back at the ranch....I believe the question was how do the morokami and kamui tips compare? As a repairman...I would also like to know the answer to the question.

All tips are cheap.

All chalk is cheap too!

Some people buy into the Kamui Sales pitch and that is their choice.

If one needs to pay 15.00 plus for a good tip that is only one choice.

Branding is a powerful thing.

Rick

How about getting back to the subject?

I think I have some here you can have for free. I've never used any of them, nor recommended them. I have absolutely no opinion of the tips at all. I just don't like the guy selling them.

Don't some, or alot, of the tips on the Morakami website look alot like other tips...including the packaging?

Why would someone go to that "extreme" to sell tips?

Today I needed to replace a tip on one of my cues. I've had a few Morakami's in my tips selection for a few months so I decided that I would give a Morakami a spin. The shaft is a Predator original Z, original ferrule. So I prep the tip and the shaft. I tried for over an hour with at least a couple of different prep methods and 3 different tips, 5 different bottles and 4 different brands of super glue. I could no make those damn things stay glued to the shaft. I prep the shaft once more and switch to a Talisman tip. The Talisman glued right on and shaped right up without a hitch, first try.
The moral of this little story? Morakami's suck. Never had that problem with any other brand of tip

the reason repair guys love them and talk them up so much is because they simply make more off them.

I also stock many well known brands of tips, just for a few die hard fans.
I like the idea of being able to install a great tip on customers cues, give them a serious break in price, and still keep my profit margin.

200 K people in our small town and a smaller Pool Community. Not going to attempt to ruin my reputation by installing garbage on cues and trying to pass them off as half way decent.

I brag these tips up. I always make a deal with my customers. If I suggest a tip, (Ultra Skin), and they don't like them 100%, I will credit them the install price that they paid against any other tip that I stock. So far, no one has taken me up on the offer.

And, their Friends come to me wanting the same tip, after they tried their friends shaft and tip out.

I was never impressed with Skamui to begin with.

Before Ultra Skins came out, I bought a fair amount of California Tips from Somewhere, China on EBay. They are actually a half decent layered tip in all respects.

They came out to approx 1 dollar a piece. I used these for the poorer players in town so I could give them a real good deal. They could have a layered tip over a Cheap Le Pro or a Triangle. And never one complaint on those either.

I came to find that there were a few other Repairmen on AZB that also used these.

In Asian Countries, the price that people pay for items has a perceived Status that comes along with it.

If I showed someone a Zan tip and told them that I paid $100 for it, they would all be fawning over it and likely looking for one also.

Anyway, JT sounds like there is somewhat of a deeper story behind his posts. There is a way to give your customers quality products for a decent price, and still maximize your profits too.

There is only one player in town that drank the Skamui Kool Aid and will pay someone 40 to 50 bucks for a tip install.

I have never charged anyone that amount for any tip, and that includes a Moori.

This thread reminds me of a friend of mine. He posted a guitar for sale on Ebay for $2500 and it didn't sell for a month............ He raised the price to $3500 and it sold in a day............

The moral of the story..............

If you buy relying on the perception of value from the price......... well..... all is not what it seems............ you just might be a sucker.

Ultra Skin tips are just as good as any other tip and better than most......

I knew a tax attorney who had a practice in Los Angeles. He doubled his rate to 600.00 an hour(this is 20 years ago!) because he was overwhelmed and wanted fewer clients......his business doubled.....

Say what you want about Kamui prices being high, but acknowledge the fact that they actually support pool and it IS a premium tip. I haven't been to any east coast events, but John has been at every BCA and APA event that I've attended. They do banner ads, support professionals, and grade A student pool players.

No there is no deeper story here, I honestly just think they are garbage tips, Plain and simple, I know people like them and use them and that's fine, There just not for me, I don't stock tips I would not use myself, and that's all there is to it, God bless the people that like them there just not for me, To be perfectly honest I don't like Kamui's eather, I installed one on my cue a few years ago played with it for an hour cut it off and installed a first Generation Moori, I would not stock anything I would not use myself, That's all.....
