But along came Santa who took reigns of his hitch,
He called out to Keith, who said, "This night's been a *****!"
It was hill-hill at Mosconi Cup. Europeans kept on screaming.
But when Earl pocketed the winning ball, Team USA was now beaming! :D

Then Jenny woke up with her head softly humming
She looked at the scoreboard and heard a faint drumming
She looked at the crowd who were anticipating
A win for the US but they'll have to keep waiting

For Mika puts Earl in The Last Chance Saloon
You can see in Earl's eyes that he thinks it's High Noon
But like Pat Garratt got Billy the Kid.
The Iceman gets Earl and shuts down the lid

So all of you Septics who think you can beat
Our top guys in Europe then beat a retreat
A team that can beat them just hasn't been born
So I'll let you sit there and reflect, all forlorn

Good Luck Earl and Rodney, JJ, John and Shane
You're all my good friends but you laboured in vain

Best players doesn't always equal best team. Lack of chemistry kills the most talented teams and this has been a given fact in many team sports. This has been most self-evident in golf with the Ryder Cup. What the US Mosconi team needs is an Anthony Kim who injected desire into the US Ryder Cup team.

Biggest question for me is how far is Justin Bergman from this poll??

Really, have you seen this guy play!? he's a monster.

Raj is one of the new band of pool mercenaries in the Fast Gun For Hire tradition. How he ended up on this thread is amazing.

Raj and Bobby Lee (born in Scotland, played in England, became Lee Chenman, moved to Hong Kong where his parents are, became Lee Chen
Man) have rebranded themselves to get some of the Asian action - Guinness Tour, World Cup etc

Raj is still UK based and Bobby turns up now and then.

The size of the "Other" category has grown but the names are not itemised.
The poll only allows up to 10 choices.

So let us see your five man team picks for 2009 and add a non playing captain to your list.

I would pick
SVB
Corey
Johnny
Hillbilly
Shannon the Cannon

NPC Earl

Not bad, but your list could still use some tweaking!

Looks like John Schmidt has a great deal of votes up there. Shouldn't he be included?

hi

there is so many from america that could be a great team,,daulton, owen, harriman, williams, nevel, eberle, jones, morris, moore, archer, putnam, van boning, kirkwood, duell, .etc you can only have 5 .

for myself i dont deserve to be on team as i have not played nearly enough tourneys the last couple of years to qualify.

you could randomly take any 5 i mentioned and it would be a great team.

honourable thing for you to say john - do you see this changing at all next year? maybe playing more tournaments? or are you gonna continue to take it easy and relax and just enter a few?

just wondering!

either way have a good christmas and new year!

Hi John, the names are there and there is no disputing the talent of your players. But the point of this exercise it to try to find 5+1 who would jell
together and get back to the reason that you held Europe under the cosh for so many years - the solid team spirit.

Maybe the non playing captain should be
A)Jerry Forsyth or
B) Jay Helfert or
c) Joey A

Who would they like in their team?

Here you go:

Johnny
Shane
Deuel
Walden
Morris

How many do I pick? Toss Stevie in there also. Let Jay coach. Or Varner.

I just thought of something. Didn't this same thread come up last year and I got overlooked? Damn politics.

hi

its very simple.
the europeans dont play for money so they have no bad blood between them as a general rule.

the americans we have all played each other or whoofed at each other so deep down most of the usa guys have a bone to pick with each other for some reason or another.

another factor is the usa players treat pool like it is which is a joke in america, therefore as a group we practice never and frankly are trying to make ends meet other ways, videos, lessons, golf matches, part time jobs etc.

we dont have country backing or company backing.

even with all that said as a group we have produced a ton of great players and thats from a country where pool is a joke.

Those are very good points. But if you were elected NPC which 5 would you call to join you in Vegas next year?

I'd like to see be done by taking the top 5 ranked Euro players and top 5 ranked American players with the coaches being voted in.

Winning team

In 2006 we had mostly the same players as we did in 2007 and 2008. One of the differences that sticks out in my mind was Mike Davis was on the team in 2006 and we won. Mike Davis was not on the team in 2007 and we lost. He was not on the team in 2008 and we lost.

I'm just saying....

my 5 USA TEAM

1) strickland I goodmind
2) strickland II verygoodmind
3) strickland III excellentmind
4) earl strickland jr. distractedmind
5) earl "THE PEARL" strickland, THE MIND CONTROL" BY SLAYER"

the most intertaining poolplayer in the universe

when EARL get in badmode

i always watch earl play in youtube, and likes earl
EARL STRICKLAND ALL THE WAY:thumbup:
