Part of the captain's job is to pick the team that he thinks has the best chance of beating the other team. That's a fact as well as my opinion. That said, if the powers that be decide to go to a money list or ranking points then that's ok too and it would give many players an incentive to chase points or tournament money and we might then find out who really wants to play in the Mosconi Cup. But, for now, that ain't the system and any captain worth his salt will listen to the opinions of others who know what's what but will make his own decision and stand by it.

In your defense, you have offered to play the whole team (-SVB) one on one tourneys, which thus far have been denied.
JMO, but I think the pressure in the MC is way more like gambling than tourneys anyway. It shouldn't be based solely on tourneys.
Let me ask you a simple question, and I want you to be really honest with your answer.

We tried putting up, what many thought, were are best players. We lost 11-2.
There were no promises of winning it this year. Only promises that our players would give it their best and have great sportsmanship. Mark delivered in full in that regard. No one broke their cue, used foul language, talked poorly towards their opponents.
It's also worth noting that despite not having any major negative emotional outbursts, this was still a highly entertaining event.
You don't play enough tournaments. I bet most people that don't follow action matches or visit these forums have a clue who you are.
If you want to be on there, do a little self promotion and finish high in some big events next year.
I'd like it if you were on the team, but I don't feel you get snubbed this year.

The offending team in 2013 was matchroom/Archer pick. The documentary on Earl made him be included!
The three musketeers aka archer,hatch +Morris are ineligible for obvious reasons known as pulling a challenge of champions!
Without fans speaking up, do you know that svb,Oscar, dechaine & Shuff would not have made the squad? The good ole boys would have kept them out. Visa vie the years of manipulation we are aware of and nasty behind the scenes stuff.
The young people think it is a new day and are heart broken to realize that it is the same bs different day!!!

I think you should be held in high consideration for MC play for 2 reasons.
1. Two guys were excluded who had outperformed 3 of the guys (by a lot) who did play this year, so how important can tourney accomplishments really be?
2. You don't melt under bright lights.

Sossei same history and Oscar was top on money board and got cup slot.
They may not hit all cylinders but have proven very qualified and at that level now!

It's all opinion KD I like Brandon talked to him last Friday in length about the cup I have a little inside info on why he feels snubbed but I have also known him for many yrs and know he shoots from the hip and is very opinionated so I took some of it with a grain of salt
I truley believe the only one of those 3 that was remotely considerd is Jeremy
The other 2 simply didn't do enough to be put ahead of players chosen on past performances
At the end of the day the one who's been paying the most attention is Mark
He picked his as he saw fit trying to bring a mixture of experience and young blood that he thought would gel well , hopefully play well , and represent the Country well
He succeeded in 2 out of 3
I know I know I know you play to win the game
But IMHO we were not going to win in that venue no matter who we put into the legion of doom
So I'll take the 2 out of 3

Looking at it from a player's perspective, all I would ask is that there is a definitive reasoning or method for ULTIMATE player selection given up front to the potential players.
If Mark chooses the eight players, those eight players should be given a definitive criteria for the ultimate selection. Whether that is performance in a pre determined set of tournaments that all eight are required to participate in, or a round robin tournament in addition to that among the players weighted a specific amount against those other performances.
Whatever the criteria is, it should be transparent to those participants in advance...
That's the only thing that I am iffy about.
Billiards already has too much of the good ole boy network mentality, we don't need more of it.

Any time you have one man that is calling the shots without any standard set for the decision making process, that allows said person to change his mind at will, it invokes the good ole boy network mentality.
You have to be a part of HIS good ole boy network or you're out, or at least the potential for that to be the case is there.
