yeah, a lot of people can win in a race to 5, but don't you want the guy that's going to win the most of those races?
Actually what you want for the Mosconi Cup is someone that breaks so bad that it appears they are cut breaking every time. The ref will not be able to call a foul because the horrible breaker will be giving it his best effort.
Smashing the head ball and hoping didn't yield as good of results as what you will find when a horrible amateur player breaks the rack and barely hits the one ball.
I know just the guy for the job.

Corey Deuel
Oscar Dominguez
Justin Bergman or Shannon Daulton
What about Shannon Daulton maybe?
This team is seasoned and professional. They might have a chance against the Europeans, who have very deep professional talent.
I just looked at Stevie Moore - didn't have a great year.

I like your list. I mean I realize the guy isn't exactly a spring chicken anymore, but I don't see anyone on the potential lists in this thread, SVB not withstanding, tripping over themselves to match up with Archer anytime soon playing 9 ball.
Johnny not long ago beat Shane in a TAR studio format on a tight table - I think only Alex and maybe Dennis O can say the same really. I couldn't have more respect for a player's ability than I do Archer. When he's right, which is often, he's a killer.

I just expanded it some.
They play 5 matches each consisting of team, doubles, singles.
Each match one player on each team changes.
They get individual points for each win in team, doubles. singles.
They also get judged on these 5 points:
A) Attitude
B) Being a team player
C) Coachable
D) Desire
E) Etiquette (sportsmanship)
Just as a player would trying out for any team.
The top 4 players based on total points from match points and demeanor
points from observation, get the honor of representing the U S A in the Mosconi Cup.
Along with Shane to win the Cup!

From what Mark told me, the team will consist of more than 5- 6 players and the ones who playing the best during the training period will play.Shane was a lock and after that it is wide open. I have a feeling not many current champs will put the time in he is looking for. Justin wants it in the worst way and is doing exactly what he is supposed to be doing to get there.Tournaments, played at Lindenwood recently, and acting right.

I'm friends with justin and u can just tell he's trying he's not wolffing so much he's playing his but off I hope with everything he make it cuz one thing he's got is heart don't matter how down he is he won't stop till its over and that's what we need

Don't get it twisted Archer can play, and I don't think he phones it in for the cup. I think he does play really hard. I just think he needs to pass the torch. Would be nice for him to come along as an Asst. Coach or something of that nature. The thing is, we need to pass the torch to the next generation.
This year will be crazy tough to win anyway. In a way there is no pressure, because they're not suppose to win. You rebuild this year, and next year REALLY get after it. If we do well or win, it will just be twice as sweet!

Skylar, Shuffet and Brennke (whoever he is) all need the 8 playing 10 ball (atleast) from every player on the euro team.
Nobody has the right combination yet - keep guessing.
And remember, it will be a team of players. If you wanted the top 5 skill wise for those on who would beat who as corvertte and others keep eluding to, the team would be:
