My DCC adventure 2010

Finally at home. Had 25 hours of travelling since DCC was done, and have been working 2 days and sleeping for almost 36 hours since I arrived home. First time I start the computer since I got back home, haven't had the needed energy to start posting again.

I started out with staying a week in New York, and I got time to play some pool at Eastside Billiards, Amsterdam Billiards playing Jennifer Barretta, Raxx Poolroom playing the Predator Tour and lastly a weekly tournament at Masters Billiards. Was fun in New York, met a lot of new, cool people and I will definitely go back there one day. I guess my brother will join me to New York once again too, because he was high after he got a hug from Jennifer, and he couldn't believe that she was the girl that I had scheduled to play with :D WPBA has got a new fan in my brother now

Watchez was the first person I met at the Derby this year, and he was more helpful to me than what could be expected. Thanks a lot, Watchez, that sure meant a lot. Btw, while checking in, I got to take a closer look at his cue, and I have to tell you guys that his cue is the nicest cue you will ever get to see.

I got a chance to meet Greg Sullivan this year, and I had many different chats with him, but I remember teling him that if I had knew that the Europeans wouldn't be here when I booked my flight I wouldn't go to Derby this year, but I was glad I didn't know. This DCC was awesome, there was action everywhere every single night.

Compared to last year I didn't spend much time in the AZ Room, but focused more on the Action Room. The Action Room was non-smoking this year, so I spent quite some time in there and got to meet a lot more people than I did last year. I can't even start to name the people, because I am so terrible on remember names, but it was very funny to hang out with Beav, even though it was costly to bet together with him.

It was nice to meet The Nit, and Bartram was a funny guy. Too bad he wasn't in more action. I've been feeding a family of five for a year now by betting against Bartram, so I was kind of dissapointed that he was just walking around like a zoombie and not playing pool. I was litterally 3 feet away from him all the time trying to get a game and to get action on other matches, and in the end it finally paid off. For Bartram. He ended $ 500 winner... (Or, I still made profit on betting against Bartram and Bartram's matches, since I booked a winner on Busty-Bartram)

I shared room with JoeyA this year, it was fun as always, but since he snore so loud (he kept all of the 8th floor awake at nights, and half of the 7th and 9th floor) I couldn't go to bed before 7:30 in the morning, when he woke up. So I basically spent the nights staying in action either playing myself or doing sidebets.

I played a lot with 1on1pooltourneys ($50, $100, $200, $400 and $500 sets), and made sure that he was sharp, focused and ready for fish coming his way. I think he owes me a jelly for all the work I put into making him a winner, but instead he wants a $ 100 now since his field won the Wheelchair Championship against my player... Argh...

The one-pocket tournament was a disaster for me, and I only won 1 match. My problem is that I played pool like 20 times since the DCC last year, so as I told "T" during our lunch, it was hard to predict which Roy that would play my matches. The good or the bad. In 9-ball the bad and the good one played a few matches each, and I managed to finish tied 42nd with players such as Bustamante and Parica, so I am considering to officially retire now, haha.

"Donkey Dick" Mars was definitely a guy that I liked, and I hope to meet him some more in the future. We're gonna have a lots of fun, and book some winners for sure ;)

During the Fatboy 10-ball Challenge I got a seat next to Joe Villalpando, and it took only minutes before he had trapped me on a bet and I lost $ 20 to him... He asked for 2-1 that the 4-ball would go 4 rails and into the pocket on Shane's next break... well... I had to pay... Shane breaks like a monster in 10-ball...

The other day I went to Joe V's booth, and tried out his kicking system. I've never believed in systems, but I tried 15 kicks doing exactly what he told me to do, and I hit the ball 14 out of 15 times. The one time I missed I just hit it softer on the next shot and hit the ball. His DVD's (pooliq.net) are definitely worth a try.

I still won't ever read a thread about aiming systems though :D

Ok, I am sure I've forgotten a lot, and should have mentioned way more people and things going on, but it's impossible to remember all after such a week. Everyone I met was friendly, no one beat the hell out of me as they said they would, and in fact 2 guys said sorry for posts they have made and said that I am a good guy after all :)

Oh, I have to say that NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, buys more drinks to people than Boradriver!!! Stay close to him and you might get your face on a picture with a Sheriff you too :D

It was an extremely funny week, and I'll definitely be back.

Ok, one more thing. I have to tell you how I almost got some of JoeyA's money.

It was on his first day there, actually his first hour, and my second day. We went to the AZ room, and I told him "why don't we go over to the Action Room, Harry Platis is playing Carl Bailey for $ 10 000 each, race to 10 in 1-pocket".

Joey wanted to sweat some of it, so we went over. He didn't want to pick a winner, so I told him to bet on the score, what it was right now. I told him I would bet $ 20 that it was 4-4, and he thought about it while walking over to the action room, and said I might go for 4-3...

He ended up not betting, and he was so glad when he saw that the score was 4-4.

I then had to show him the projector and giant screen outside on the wall, which he hadn't seen. While he was figuring out what score to pick I had already seen on the wall that the score was 4-4 :D

Oh well, I will get his money one day! Now I know where he hides the money, so he better sleep with one eye open if we are gonna share a room another time.

Gotta get to DCC one day. What was the scores in your Busty and Parica matches?
Good pics of N.Y. on facebook Roy,looked like a great trip overall,

Roy we played in the first round of the 9 ball tourney. Neither of us brought our A games but you found a way to win. You were a gentleman in our match and that is something to be proud of. Hope to see you next year!! I need some revenge!!!

The Corporation baby!!! Being in business with Roy is like being an accountant for Enron, you just know its going to end badly!!

Roy,

Congratulations on getting a slice of the cheese. Some is always better than none.

Did you play in either of the one pocket mini's? One of our locals put up the $1000 added money in each event. The guy loves pool more than anyone I know! In memory of his wife.

Great time!

Roy we will definitely need to slow down next year! I think I might still be drunk! I am glad we finally met!

I think I need to explain my new nick name though, I don't want the girls to get too excited!

I had just heard a joke the day before going to the DCC and I wanted to find out if people from Norway had a sense of humor, so here is the joke:

In my best sothern drawl:

These two boys from Arkansas are sitting on their porch really bored, one of them say lets play twenty questions. The other one asks how do you play that there game? Well you write down something on a piece of paper and I have twenty questions to guess it. So the one guy writes down Donkey Dick. The boy asks his first question "Can you eat it?" After thinking for a while the boy comes back and says well ya I suppose you can.

He immediately guesses is it Donkey Dick?

I am not sure if this joke translates well in written form and I sure as hell don't know how to write a joke down very well either. I know it is funny when you are REALLY Drunk!!!

Hey Chris

roy i like being a nit.
but if you win so much money off me how am i a nit?

I'm not postive, but I don't think Roy was calling you a nit. The way it reads, he met someone else that goes by that name. Then, instead of a period, inserted the comma, and made it sound that way.

THE NIT, sounds like a posters name. Anyway, I hate to see you quit pool, but totally understand.

I didn't play Busty or Parica, I just finished 42nd in the tournament, just like them.

New York was awesome, and I recommend everyone to take a trip there!!

Winning ugly is what I do best :o Hey, if you want your revenge and we don't meet in the tournament, you'll find me in the action room. I am sure we can work something out.

The Corporation baby!!! Being in business with Roy is like being an accountant for Enron, you just know its going to end badly!!

I'll give you one more chance. Next time I want to bet on a big match I'll ask you for advice. Then do the opposite.

Roy,

Congratulations on getting a slice of the cheese. Some is always better than none.

Did you play in either of the one pocket mini's? One of our locals put up the $1000 added money in each event. The guy loves pool more than anyone I know! In memory of his wife.

Lyn

It feels good to cash in such big events, even though it wasn't much. Unfortunately I didn't play in any of the mini's. I tried to register for the one-pocket mini, but I was too late. Hopefully it will be possible to sign up in advance for the coming years again...

Thanks to your friend who added money for the mini's. The poolworld needs more friends like that!!!

Little Joe would be the highlight of ANY trip!

Little Joe was definitely a highlight. Gotta love those Mexican's!!! :D

I posted this in another thread...from now on we will call him....

Roy "ONE SET SALLY" Steffensen

Hey, I told you, it's the only way I can win money from you. I was SO happy when you agreed to change from "have to win with two sets" till "1 final set for the cheese". Too bad you "cheated" using the secret finger-move when I had you in a trap in the set two days later :D :D

I'll get you next year, 1on1, be ready and stay in action, you'll need it. haha (If you think I will play you even because of this last sentence, it ain't so. I need more weight)

It was fun meeting you this year Roy, hopefully next year I can make it for the entire week. I do believe I was the first person you lost money to on your trip this year.

I win money off others too, when you are playing ;) lol

Come on buddy, we all know you're not a nit. You're a go-off. He's a foreigner, you know how they get terms mixed up sometimes.

He's a nit, but a good one

beav i have becomw a nit.
roy i beat you out of more then what you said.
lol lol

No, you think you beat me out of more, but don't forget that I had this very successful corporation together with your friend Beav. I have might paid you more, but he had his part of the bets too.

That's what I love the most about Beav. When we booked losers he had half of the bet, and when we scored a winner he had about 14 % of the bet :D :D

Can't get better than that, can it? :D

Grrr....

I'll play you a game of 9-ball one-handed with wrong hand for $ 50 next time I'll see you too, don't you worry. I am gonna get my money back :D

Hope you can stay longer next time!!! Time to show your better half who's in charge!

I still laugh of that joke, most because of the way it was told :D

Well, it could be because of the moonshine and budweiser's, but if so, we'll just keep drinking next year so it will still be fun :D

I hope we can do more betting together next time. We should make a big score and pop the champagne for sure ;)
