My Dinner With Team USA

I felt quite fortunate to be invited to dinner with Team USA tonight hosted by none other than Fatboy himself.

It was a wonderful meal at a very fine Japanese restaurant. We all sat around a big double grill and watched the chef prepare our meals Benihana style. The food was GREAT!

More importantly, it was a time for reflection on the events of the day, and how to prepare for tomorrow. No question, Team USA was set back on their heels today, by the barrage from Team Europe.

Over the course of two hours I saw the guys relax and unwind, and begin to rebuild for tomorrow's fray. At the conclusion of the meal I would have to say that they are ready to go at it again tomorrow, and have renewed energy. I found it to be a very constructive meal, and I think Team USA will make a good showing tomorrow. My prediction for day three is 3-2 USA.

Fatboy did a real service to the team by bringing them together in this unique setting to have their team meeting. Thanks buddy!

Thanks Jay for the post I know that team USA fans were a little concerned after todays foray. I gave a play by play here on the board today for those that couldn't watch due to whatever reason, work, slow speed internet, what have you, and I have to say that the responses I got were great. I'm sure the US team will come together tommorrow and all today did was make tommorrow a little more interesting. I am kind of glad that it didn't go four and 1 for the USA team today or it would've been boring to watch it the rest of the weekend. I doubt after today that the US will be favored 20-1 anymore. I actually wanted to talk my wife into going out there this weekend, since her father lives there, but I couldn't convince her with the holidays and all the busy ness and what not.

Hopefully the next time I watch the Mosconi cup live I'll be playing in it. LOL, well have a nice rest of the weekend Jay and tell Earl that I wish him skill.

Thanks for sharing that bit of news. Sounds like y'all are enjoying the Vegas trip, as well as, of course, the Mosconi Cup! :)

One of my favorite, favorite, favorite video clips of this year's Mosconi Cup comes at the most recent interview on AzBTV. It begins with Jerry Forsyth interviewing Tony Drago, which was quite interesting and cool.

However, at the very end of the whole video clip, after Jerry speaks with Kim Davenport and BD publisher, the final scene is Rodney Morris and Earl Strickland winning their match aganist Team Europe.

The whole crowd is chanting "USA, USA, USA, USA." Rodney and Earl are in perfect euphoria at this moment. Earl actually breaks out in dance to the beat of the "USA, USA, USA, USA." Rodney cannot contain his excitement either, jumping up and down to the chanting beat produced by the audience: "USA, USA, USA, USA."

Pretty neat stuff!

I couldnt believe that Archer only played once on day two.

USA played with no emotion..... zero. Corey has played bad for two days and he seemed indifferent about it.

Hopefully the last win will get them fired up.

I hated Johnny's comment about it not being over but being in the drivers seat.

IMO once Rodney lost to Drago the US team was in shock.

Fun environment

Jay, Enquiring minds ask... What did Earl tell you at that dinner? :D

LOL.... Fatboy... weren't you at Benihana last week too??? ROTFLMAO

Jay, the question I want to know is this: Did those guys stiff you for the bill?

;)

Kudos to you Eric! That was a nice gesture in support of our team! I'm sure they were feeling down after the days events, and an opportunity to unwind and relax a little is always a good thing. Thanks, from all of us who would like to be able to do what you DID! :D

thank you sir for feeding the boys

Thanks for giving the team and jay the nickel tour. Diner with a the usa stable. Sounds like we all missed out. thanks to you fatboy. It is so easy to get disstracted there. Bussiness first play time later. Who took pictures? mark

How much was the bill?

Anyone an assumption how much the bill was? I guess it was dinner or a new Southwest decision :)

perhaps team usa needs a lesson, i will give you one here to pass on to them, they need to shoot the balls in the pocket better, and not let the europe team do that first, and the cues they are using might not be the best either, i use a Cuetec cue, perhaps you can get some Cuetec cues in Vegas for them to use, but thats what they need to do, if they want to be better.

thanks,

DCP

Jay ,
It seems as if you are rooting for team Europe during the commentary. You go crazy everytime they make a good shot and then you swallow they microphone when USA makes a good shot.
Couldn't be you have a bet on Team Europe could it. Tone it down a bit.and root for your home team.

Jay is rooting for good pool... as a good commentator and pool fan, he gets excited when people are playing well, regardless of what team.

I think he is a lousy commentator.
He never says anything that isn't obvious.
The man makes a bad shot and Jay says ... He didn't want to do that... DUH.. tell me something I don't know. He doesn't know how to use the telestrator. He talks too loud and he can't play .. yet he second guesses half of the pros shots. . I say he should stick to racking the balls and calling bad hits......That's my opinion .. and I'm sticking to it.
