My Trip to Alabama...

Well I just got back in a few hours ago and had a great time in Alabama. Me, Scott Frost and a good friend of ours Jimmy went out there for a match between Scott and Cliff. Scott won the 8 ahead in about 8 hours giving up 9-8 on his break. I brought my equipment along and did a live broadcast from The Billiard Club.

I got to meet a few guys on here whom I have chatted with from time to time like gbru (George), gulfport doc (Doc), and another guy who I am not getting the name out of my head as I am exhausted right now. George was very helpful and even drove me and Jimmy to the airport which was a long haul along with showing us a great seafood place.

On my long flight home me and Jimmy talked about Scott and him matching up with Cliff and Ricky Byrd. Ricky Byrd was getting heavy weight from Scott and betting high, spots like 9-4 and the breaks and the hit and pick 4. Me and Jimmy did okay side betting on the games with Ricky as Ricky likes action. We both wished we could have stayed but he has a room to run and I have an upcoming trip to Vegas on Friday and only 2 days to get things organized at home which there are tons to do.

Now I will get to the sour stuff as I already told the sweet stuff. I get home and am happy to see my family, my sons room is actually clean and neat, I am almost fainted.

The kids are put to bed and I decide to unpack my hard Atlantic case which holds my equipment and its totally a mess inside. I packed it very neatly and organized, a small hand mirror was broken inside and the zipper to one part of the case on the inside was open and was certainly not when I closed it. I check the cameras, they all seem fine except the big one which I stream with, the eyepiece is broken, the glass is cracked.

I am sick about it and am unsure of what to do so I call Delta. After a bit of being transferred here and there I am told I need to go back to the airport, its after midnight and I just got in like 3 hours ago. I go to the airport and no one is there at Delta for the check in but as I am leaving thinking I would have to come all the way back in the morning I see Baggage Services and go in there and luckily someone is there. I speak with this nice lady and I made sure to be calm and take deep breaths because she does not understand how close I am to losing it.

She ask for the baggage claim receipt and I give it to her and she looks at the baggage which is damaged on the outside. I tell her that is not the big issue but whats on the inside is and open the case, she sees the broken mirror, not a big deal either to me but then I show her the camera and she says electronics are not covered or fragile items. I explain about the zipper being open and she ask if a note from TSA was in there and I replied no but it appeared the bag had been rummaged through or severely mishandled. She takes down the claim and that is that and I have to contact them to find out more, when I am unsure of. So as of now I will have to test to see if the camera works fine besides the broken eyepiece.

It does not end there, I get a nasty PM from a member who PMs me finally with his address to ship a case which he payed for via money order a couple weeks back. I have messaged this guy about 4 times and never heard back until this, the case is sitting all boxed up just waiting for an address. He says I am a piece of work and to overnight it. I needed the address as I misplaced the envelope and the money order was cashed. His PM box was full and he never got back to me, says in the PM to me that he has messaged me 3 times with his address, I would love to see those PMs. I think he really believes he did but if his PM box was full and he hits send it wont send anything at all and you will get a little message saying your box is full which could be overlooked. I just told the guy since I am a piece of work I will just send a refund. I hope if he is reading this he looks at his sent messages and can show when he sent those 3 messages because I never got them but I can show all the messages I sent him along with my phone number.

Well enough of my rant, will wait until tomorrow to unpack and clean up the glass along with checking the camera status. Was not a great thing to come home to after having a pretty cool trip to the South for the first time. Anyone know a good camera repair guy? Good night everyone, I am exhausted and hope I have better dreams then the little nightmare I came home to, life is funny like that.

Really hate to hear all this. Don't know a camera repair guy in your area, but I highly recomend https://www.lensrentals.com/for-video when in a pinch and need equipment fast. They will take care of your needs.

Good luck and thanks for your streams.

Tim

Glad you had a good time!! Sorry about the cam :(

If you read the fine print, the airlines don't really cover anything at all.

When I travel by air, I ALWAYS carry my cameras with me onboard as a carry on. No way would I trust the baggage handlers the way they throw stuff onto the belt.

THANKS for the stream!!

Bummer about the cam Lenny. I am flying out to Vegas tomorrow and wont even bring a cue:(. I am glad you had a good time earlier in the week, to bad it ended wrong. If the cam still works maybe it will be a cheap fix for a new eye piece.

Lenny....Glad you and Jimmy made it back safely....Sorry to hear about your misfortune ....Sounds like it was definately employee abuse at the airport.....That's just uncalled for crap...

Hope to posssibly see you in Gulfport for Doc's 1/P tourny.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I enjoyed what I saw of the stream if it's any consolation.

You seem like too nice a guy to get rolls like that. Good luck with the camera, hope the manufacturer can get a replacement lens to you for cheap. The airline won't help I'm sure. I hope that guy with the bad attitude who pmed you gets scabies.

Sorry to hear about your equipment Lenny. Hopefully they won't be completely ruined. I didn't get to watch the stream but thanks again for your efforts.

Everyone knows...

Everyone knows that people that devote their own time and money for the love of the sport and the enjoyment of others are always scammers.

ps post up any repair costs. I enjoy your streams so I'll kick in for the cause.

Lenny, I hate hearing about your problems with shipping. Good luck getting to a resolution, I hope that works out for you buddy, I am in Vegas this week myself, I hope to run into you so I can buy you a cold beverage. I appreciate your streaming and wish I could have got down to Kobeys when I came through Phoenix last year.

In closing whoever bought the case and what not calm down, clean out your PM box and send Lenny the address or take the refund with no hate.

Fast Lenny I would file a claim for DAMAGES with the Airline, they should respect your property you entrusted to them.

CoCo,

How did you reach your advanced age, and remain so naive ? The mere fact that you continue to try to communicate (with anyone) is astonishing...Have you ever actually been on an "Aeroplane" ? Have you ever actually re-read any of your posts ?

The fact that you have hundreds of thread starts, (MOST of questionable sanity)...and thousands of posts, with tens of thousands of responses, and only a few regular's call you a little short of a full deck, is absolutely amazing !!!
That is one reason I question the average age, and level of intelligence, on this forum...and rarely post here. I don't need "dumbing down"....
You are of course though, the undisputed "King of Emoticoner's"..:bash:

You appear to be a good hearted soul, and I admire you, for your efforts with the local Youth Group's...but please, tell me how you have persevered, after all the negative press you have recieved... You are an amazing "ENIGMA"

PS..Google it...it's not a bad word..:D

Yeah I also would like to say thanks for the streams as we all enjoy them. I also agree......if you have to get it repaired yourself and need help from members, post it up. I will try to pitch in what I can as well. Keep ya head up things will get better.

You guys are all great, its the eye piece lens that is cracked, not the end of the world and I will know more tomorrow on what will be happening. I still do believe I can stream with that camera, its my fault for not having it in a hard case and just inside the soft case but it appears they went through my luggage and just threw stuff around in there. Well gotta run, much to do tomorrow before Vegas. :)

A number of my photographer friends have used them - with a lot of success. It might be worth checking out if things don't get taken care by the airlines.

A BIG GIANT HEFTY THANK YOU!! For providing the streams - and even moreso for archiving them on ustream so I have something to watch at work, er... in my spare time, at home, not at the office.

Oh, just in case you haven't been pointed in their direction 100 times before, Pelican cases are pretty much the best bang for buck when it comes to hardshell cases for electronics. Depending on the size of your camera, you could probably pick up a case for not too much. Again, all of my traveling photographer friends use them.

i fail to see how this thread is the best place to start this? i don't know about any history between you two, but i don't think derailing this thread is necessary.
