NACPBA and Tim Dennis

Let's look at some real info from real sources.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, no more "Chicken Little"
Look at the Marketing contact name for the website and you will see the name of "Speer Mabry" This could be very good information to follow up on. A Google search shows a very influential and respected Attorney named E. Speer Mabry is a founding partner of a well respected law firm in Atlanta.

www.m-mlegal.com/home.asp

Now, if Speer Mabry and E. Speer Mabry are the same person, which I have a feeling it very well may be, then this is a very postive connection to NACPBA. This puts a whole different and hopefully positive light on things. The NACPBA website is very well done and took a lot of time and resources to put in place.

I posted this in the other thread, but I guess you are so proud of yourself you had to start a new one.

The posting of personal information of people have done no wrong is total BS and not right. How would everyone on this forum feel about having their personal info posted for the world to see. Name, address, phone, what your house is worth. It is not right and should be edited.

Is that what we are gonna do now? Before you do a cue deal call the AZ CSI to post the potential buyers CV so eveyone can vet him? I have no problem with finding out who is in on this deal but posting the personal info is over the line.

You can explain what you found with out posting the personal information. But then that would not make you look as cool.

..Though not in favor of this outing at this stage, the question I'm wondering is why the f is the NCABAHAHA website so crappy if that is his business? Maybe he has been hijacked?

The guy hasn't answered anyone's emails or phone calls. Furthermore, he has chosen to have cryptic responses in the interview and won't divulge anything about the tour. Couple all of this with the fact that his $69 website has a number of flaws and unanswered questions and I think the true pool fans deseve a little more. After the IPT debacle especially, I would think that this guy would want to be as up front as possible seeing that the trust factor for another "grand tour" is almost non-existent.

I'm sorry to disagree with you Justin but once you put out your name and
your company/corporation/entity out there (a pool tour for that matter) for
the general public to see and it involves some serious money like a $2500
membership fee and $500 entry fee for every tournament therafter, and
providing minimal info about where the prize money is coming from, then he
has brought it upon himself. "Tim Dennis" is public property now, and I can't
blame everybody who's involve in pool in one way or another to be a little bit
skeptical after that IPT fiasco.

I really wish for this tour to be "real" and succeed, and I've read some really
positive things about them like the 36 Diamond tables they're about to set
up, so they must be really serious about this.

Just my 2 Drachmas...

I don't like seeing the Dennis' personal information, to include other person's names who may live with him, published like this on the forum

The website said that nothing would be announced officially until February 2008. Maybe it would be better to wait until this happens before he gets the usual tar-and-feathering that seems to occur sometimes on this forum when there is at this juncture absolutely no foundation.

I disapprove. :(

Couldn't agree more.. If it were personal, but this is a Business Investigation.

So Sorry, you are offended to know the facts of a website registration that is public information and proposing to collect up to $1.7 Million the first year from 128 players while saying it will payout $22 million. I think that makes it an enterprise. Nothing personal, but let the facts be what they are.

I would never have posted if the information were strictly private personal and not posed as a commercial venture. That is the difference.

Had trouble with that myself.

I didn't like it either. I started to delete the secondary but then, it wouldn't be factual ownership as registered with the county. So I left that there. I Do have to make this statement. It might not even be the same Tim Dennis, but that is the closest record that came back on a name search.

I really hope this deal is real because it would be great for promoting Billiards. But, when I read one AZer supposedly already sent in a check, I had to find out as much as possible in a short time. I think if it isn't official until feb 2008, then no money should be changing hands until after that. Or at least everyone have an idea of who is what until that day comes.

So where do you draw the line?

I promote pool events too. What if we were to do a $100,000 event. Would you dig up all my info and post it because maybe someone was skeptical?

They have not done ANYTHING yet. Good or bad. Show me where they are saying "Send in money now!!!"

Jesus people, take it easy. Give these people time to get their stuff together. They either will or won't post the money. Why go around pissing people off (if you posted my info without my permission I would be pissed off at YOU, public domain or not) for no reason. What on earth makes you think that this Tim Dennis is anything more than an employee or a front to get the kinks worked out? You do not know for sure and that is the point.

Say what you will but it is not right.

I think you should remove the information. Though some of us have read it now and the damage is done, you could provide a little damage control. :)

I never read that a serious-minded pool player was going to send in $2,500 now. They haven't even launched the tour yet, which will happen in February 2008.

Do the right thing and delete the info. This kind of stuff is hurtful to those affected. I just don't think it is fair, but I think you might be a nice guy, being that you took the time to respond to me! :p

The difference between you, Justin and Tim Dennis is transparency, track
record and integrity to the game and the players. That's a whole world of
difference if you ask me.

I will reserve my judgment about Tim Dennis and his baby for later, but I
will be surely rooting for him to succeed. He's got something going for him,
a blueprint (IPT sic) on how to fail on grand scheme of things.

I vote leave the info up ....

people are gonna believe what they want anyway...if memory serves me, a lot of "information" was ignored about the IPT and Trudeau.....

Last year, when the IPT dropped the ball on the payments, I was in the process of trying to put something together. This is why I didn't pursue it much further than I did.

Anyone that wants to try anything is subject to this type of scrutiny from here on out. IMO, that sucks. I don't want any of my personal information posted on the internet. I believe that if this tour is legit, and Mr. Dennis is sincere about this and the promises that come with it - perhaps all of the suspicion is very premature.

I spoke out about the IPT only after I did a bit of research on it. The original IPT was not set up professionally at all (even after the first year), ask Eydie, she visited the offices. lol ...

In October of 2005, the IPT was very "fly-by-nite" in its office set up, complete with temps and minimum wage earning college kids answering their phones. Even so, KT was able to produce some very extravagant events at some stellar venues.

I would suggest that you allow this to play itself out before you crucify the guy or continue posting personal information, no matter how "public" you believe it to be. There were a lot of things I could have posted about the IPT prior to their initial event, but I felt it was improper to do so in any capacity, and to this day I have kept that information where it belongs - out of the public eye - because in the end, it really didn't matter much anyway.

Since it has been posted that there is an order for 35 Diamond tables to be paid for at the Mosconi Cup this week, I believe that if that gets confirmed as a done deal with no hitches, this post should be removed by AzBilliards. I am okay with that or even pulling it now. I would love for this to become reality. I know pro players who have been sitting on the sidelines playing local and regional Pro only that might finally go national. Like they say "Show me da money" .

Thanks Auction Guy!

I have to give a sincere thanks to our auctionguy. The discussion over using full legal names or even full legal names plus additional information gets heated on here pretty regularly with many seeing no reason why anyone without something illicit to hide would mind posting the information. Here it is spread out for all to see. It is a matter of privacy, ours, our family's, even our landlord's as we see here.

Once you give anyone a toehold they can find out as much as they care to about you, your family, where you live, often your occupation and your bosses and co-workers. They can keep expanding their knowledge almost endlessly and many stalkers or busybodies do just that.

The owner of this forum has all the information he needs to track any of us to earth if the need really existed. I can't see the need to give everyone with a few minutes time on their hands access to personal information.

JCIN - Since you have a connection to the players & ins @ the billiard industry, what you ought to do is organize the players & have their $$$$ ($2,500 registration fee) put into an escrow account. Then go to the NCAPBA and let them know that you have the $320,000 (128 players x $2500) in an escrow and will desperse the $$$ at a rate of $14,545 ($320,000 / 22 events) at each event they hold. Surely, an organization that is going to guarantee $22 million & spend $180,000 - $200,000 on tables isn't concerned with a mere $320,000. I don't see how the NACPBA could argue with this. No they aren't the IPT, KT, DENO, Camel Tour, Don Mackey or Brady Behrman but the history in this sport is there so they will have to walk on egg shells until proven differently.

The TRUTH about this organization can only be learned in due time so speculation is more interesting thatn productive.

However, IMHO, the manner in which the early information regarding this purported tour was utterly premature and EXTREMELY ill-advised...witness the posts in this thread.

Can you IMAGINE the content of these posts if the announcemenet had been accompanied by verifiable FACTS? The posts would be enormously favorable...quite obviously.

As things stand now, they have caused their reputation to be tainted with doubt and suspicion from day one.

Regards,
Jim
