I am just about to close on my new house! The biggest turn-on for me was the spacious finished basement. I will be buying a 9' Diamond table in the next few months but I need help with the lighting.

The ceiling is about 8' high....not the problem. The problem is the HVAC system that runs directly over where the table needs to be centered. So the entire center section of the table will have a 7' ceiling. Does that make any sense? I obviously can't buy the Diamond light that I was hoping for, so I am thinking I will need to install track lighting or something. Maybe a light over each corner of the table facing towards the center. Anybody else have this issue? Help!!!!:D

Is Glen going to do the set-up for you? If so, then let him do the install with the Diamond light. The guy is a wizard. Just sayin'

You can still install a Diamond light, instead of hanging the light, just mount it right to the ceiling. I just did that at the location I delivered a table to here on Oregon, with 7ft ceilings.

Even if the part of the ceiling that is 7' is made of aluminum? The duct work is the low portion of the ceiling. It is finished off to look like the rest of the ceiling, but not sure if it would hold a light. Maybe if I were to suspend the light from the ceiling on each corner of the light it could work. Don't you think that would make it a little close to the table? How deep is the light?

I have my Diamond Light hanging from an 8ft ceiling. It more than a foot from the ceiling. It's a little lower than Diamond recommends but I think it's great!

Eric, the light you want from Diamond is 8" deep from top to bottom. My light hangs approx. 75" from the floor at the bottom and 83" at the top. That's just under 7' from the top of the light to the floor, and 6'3" from the bottom to the floor. It could hang up to six inches lower with no problem. That would make the top of the light approx. six and half feet from the ground. And the bottom of the light about 5'9" from the ground. Hope this helps.

Yo Easy what part of VA are you in, I'm located in Columbia, MD. We never got the chance to hookup when I was in Greenville, SC last year. Get back at me.

Hey E,

Sounds like you need to just hang the light from each corner.

The only light I would recommend is the 24" Diamond light.

Take care,

Russ...

the beam spread on a Diamond light is set for 50" off the slate bed so that plan is out, so REP me first :D and then PM Glen (RKC) and ask him he has the solution a variable beam spread light that will accomidate your needs.

Depending on your budget you can have the duct work redone....

Ductwork is usually framed in and finished with drywall so it blends with the rest of the ceiling.
If that's what you have then the light may be able to be mounted to that framework with no problem.
Hope there's an electrical connection in the area.
