Hey guys,
I'm an aussie eight ball player, and only get to see a limited amount of nine ball, due to the lack of it being televised. However over the years of playing I have seen a reasonable amount, most mosconi cups, most of the world pool masters, the recent world cup so on and so fourth.
I've seen Neils play probably 15-20 times. And in the last 5 or 6 times the guy has looked close to flawless.
I' was just wondering if I could get a gauge from you guys (who are obviously exposed to allot more nine ball then I am), of where you would rank him in the world.

Just a quick guess, somewhere between 10th-20th, maybe lower, but not higher than 10th for sure.
 
10 ball

OK, before I knew who he was, two of my friends and myself backed another pro player against him (10 ahead for 2K). They played 10 ball on tight pockets.

Who he played didn't really matter- I am not making this up. He won 12 out of 14 games to go 10 ahead in less than an hour. He broke the balls 11 times, made a ball on the break 10 out of 11, and ran out 9 out of 10! That is including a jump shot on a 1 ball, several break outs, and plenty of tough tables.

I have since seen him play live and on tv several times, and can tell you that he is phenomonal.

But maybe he just plays good when he knows I am watching.............

Oh, and for those that insist he is not in the top 10, please provide a list of whom you think he can't handle. Maybe I can back a diferent horse this time...........

There is the "any given Sunday" problem. I have seen most or all of the players listed have bad days. Well, except for Engert -- I've never seen him play badly.

It would be nice if there was an accurate ranking system for players and some tournaments either with longer matches or round robins. And then there is the problem that the game of nine ball is broken.
 
He's a great player but I think he wills the balls in the pocket, he takes so long between shots.:D Johnnyt
 
Neils is a hard worker...

If you guys get a chance or maybe you already know, check him out on the Bert Kinister tapes (instructional). He is one who will grind out a practice drill til he gets it right and perfect. He is not a quitter or lazy. Bert has led him this direction...you will see it in the tapes...I am sure that this is only one of the many reasons that he is now a World Class Player...

Luat???- Luat takes the cheese
Strickland???- Earl would break more than his cue..

Any one could win a set here.. I would love to see him and Corey do a 15 ahead set for 10 dimes.. See If we cant get this to happen..

Dennis Orcollo needs weight against somebody on this planet? You propose the game and raise the cash on Neils, and I guarantee you that 84 million Filipinos, along at least 10,000 knowledgeable players and fans around the world, will be lined up against you on the rail. Paypal will collapse from the volume of traffic!

Oh! You mean that Neils needs weight! Now that is certainly a sensible proposition!

I met and talked to Neils at the DCC (also his hot female companion). I asked him how often he takes lessons from Bert and he said it was only one time and Bert made all the tapes from it. He is a class guy. Need more like him.

Out gunned!

Not to say that Neils isn't a great player...but in a long race, I think Neils would probably need weight from everyone on that list with the possible exception of Engert (not that familiar with his game) and Earl (since he doesn't gamble.)

And Corey will not play Niels even 9-ball on these difficult breaking IPT tables... Maybe on a "mosconi cup" tapped rack table so he can do his pussy break.

Sorry for Thomas (who I realy respect) but don't mention the mosconi cup 2004 to him. ;)

But great player, and a great person as well!
 
I'd put Niels in the low 20's, by my reckoning behind all of these, which are offered in no particular order:

Reyes, Hohmann, Souquet, Archer, Morris, Chamat, Orcullo, Manalo, Luat, Pagulayan, Immonen, PW Chang, PC Kuo, Chao, Yang, Schmidt, Bustamante, Alcano, Tot, Lining and Deuel.

Two weeks ago, I'd have put Feijen around 30th, so it's nice to see him regaining his form.

Corey might not win.....but I guarantee you he will play. I would also bet whatever you like that if they do play, Corey WILL win. I am sure you arent going to bet anyway, so just leave this conversation to someone who might put Neils up.
