New Book By AZ'er: "Bangkok Pool Blues"

I just finished reading one of the first copies of Bangkok Pool Blues, a non fiction account of the pool scene in Bangkok, Thailand.

The book is written by my friend AZ'er thaitom. He has been in & out of SE Asia since 1966 and he currently lives in Bangkok. The book has stories about the pool rooms, gamblers, working girls, owners, bookies, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was surprised to find myself included as well.

The book is the first in a series on "The Other Thailand" and offers an insider’s look at the Thai counter culture that has grown up around the pool scene in Bangkok.

A pool players heaven

Thanks Cuaba, I am learning you can always count on AZers to be supportive (unless you are way off base). I am not sure that Thailand is yet a pool players heaven but with the increasing international action we are getting from top level players (at least the Philipinos and Taiwanese) and the great support setting here, I think we are definitely a welcome environment for committed players.

I look forward to your next visit to the scene and some games at the Super Cue in Bangkok.

If any AZers want a preview of the book they can go to you tube and enter "Bangkok Pool Blues" for a six minute video of one of the stories.

I'll be back two weeks from Thursday. I look forward to seeing you again.

Don't forget my birthday party at Tawan Dang again on April 23. Should be a few AZ'ers there.
 
I would like to congratulate Tom on his new book:thumbup:

I have got a copy from Tom but not able to read it through yet.One thing i know is Tom is a great guy and a great human being. He works for some sort of charities in Thailand and his passion for pool has led him to take an ownership stake in the new pool joint super cue, bangkok. His wife is also part of the national team of Thailand. Tom is a great guy and very well respected in the pool and non pool circles in Thailand.

I am sure we will get only good things from a good man.

Looks like a book on the "MUST HAVE" list....I know I enjoyed playing snooker when I was in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Cant wait to get back there next fall with my son and wife to show them what a pretty place Thailand is.

I will definately be buying this book

ps i went on honeymoon to krabi and was dreaming about playing pool there, but my wife made me promiss not the play pool for the hole holiday... I hope this book will let me know on all the action i missed there.
 
Just ordered it online. It might be a while till it gets here, but I can't wait. I Was planning a trip to Thailand later this year too. I think this will give me a good heads up on what to expect. Thanks.

Will you be at the Riviera at the end of May again? I could probably bring a copy if that helps.

Right now the book is only available from the publisher in Thailand & shipping is $12. My book arrived safe & relatively quick.

I am trying to help Tom find a US distributor to cut down on shipping costs for domestic buyers. We hope to have someone selling it here in the not too distant future.

No plans of going this year, going to hit the road and see some family and play some.

Contact bebot publishing and see if they can help out!

I got problem waiting for it I would just like a signed copy, lol....
