Cool looking puppy. Those before and after pics are priceless, we have a great dane and the difference between when she was 8 pounds and now that she is 120 pounds are incredible. Dogs are great companions we have a great dane, rottweiler and a cocker spaniel, oh yea and a very skittish cat:-)

What a good looking dog.
The German Sheperd looks great too. :P
I heard they are extremely loyal. Great breed.

Thanks for sharing. That is going to be one big dog. He has nice coloring also. Johnnyt

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I've had Doberman's before but this is my first GSD. He's a real prize!!! When we brought him home he was already house broken, he mastered sit, stay, come, down, and speak within the first few days. I taught him to fetch & retrieve a Frisbee in about 15 minutes one afternoon. Very well behaved...only chews on his toys and has absolutely zero bad habits so far. I'm now training him to smell cash! That way he'll go up to the pocket of whoever has the bankroll and give a gentle growl!;) :D His father was HUGE at close to 120lbs...this one is well on his way.
Now too, everyone can put a mental picture of my bald mug with the name.:D

Very nice German Shepard. Are you going to have him trained for personal protection?

Great Dog!!!

What a great looking dog. I love dogs, fun to figure out what their personalitiies are, and to play with them.

AMEN TO THAT BROTHER!!!

That is one awesome looking dog!! Are you nervous that it will be agressive towards kids? I don't know how Shepherds are, but the speed and size scares the hell out of, they could devour a 3 yr old before you could get to it. Or are they great with kids and extremely loyal and protective? I was thinking about one myself, just a bit nervous ya know.

I had a German Shepard when I was a kid and never had any problems with her being aggresive toward kids. In fact my dog was very protective of children. Especially me. If one of my nephews would come over and start pulling her tail for example, she would get up and move. I cant even remember her even snapping at kids at all. You cant go wrong with a German Shepard as a family dog.

Ten years ago I was looking for a dog and was torn between a shepard and a Benji mix. I went with the Benji mix and have never looked back. Tons of fun and people aren't afraid of him. I like that. I want him to put joy in the lives of folks.... just like he does for me. Dogs are like kids. They are joyfull creatures when treated well and they bring love to life just like kids do. But I do love the shepards. Very cool dog Kevin. Maybe my next one will be a big shepard but... they put a lot of food in and that means that a lof comes out too.

We've had seperate accounts for over 40 years. Never ever have we argued over money. We started out living together(playing house) 43 years ago and each of us was responsible for certain bills. Rent was hers, car repair, gas and car payment if we had one was mine. Over the years if we had a new bill we would sit down and go back over everything until it was even. Johnnyt

As with any dog that size...the key is the dog. You need to find a good breeder and get a dog with great parents. The next important thing is how you raise it...very important. We are allowing him to spend a lot of time with small children, he absolutely loves it. This is crucial since we will be expecting our first child toward the end of Dec. We also spend a lot of quality time with him...playing with his food & taking it away while he's eating...sticking fingers in mouth...pulling tail & ears...rubbing his feet...all this makes teeth brushing and nail clipping much easier when he's 100+lbs. Its pretty common knowledge that GSD's are extremely loyal and super with children. I've read story after story of how a GSD was protective of a child and even saved it from danger. My wife did a lot of research before she (we :D ) settled for the GSD. Then we passed on several dogs until this one. He was the pick of the litter. Much larger than the others and his ears were already standing straight up at 8wks. Plus getting to meet the parents & the fact they were both police dogs was a huge bonus. He's rough and tough with me, loves to play hard and wrestle...but let a small child approach him on the street and he goes into a different zone. You can see it in his eyes...plus his tail is waggin' and he dribbles a bit of pee he gets so excited to have a visit from a child. All very positive signs so far. In the short time we've had him, I've grown very attached to him. He's been my constant companion. He goes everywhere with me...to the bank, post office, lunch, etc. Very enriching to our lives. :) I highly recommend adding one to your life...if you have the time to spend with it. They are very needy and want to be a part of every activity. There is also a GSD forum if you would like to learn more.;)

I agree it is all how you raise it. Doobie (my shepherd) was a very big mean looking dog. I have tons of little cousins that used to play with him and there was never an incident and not one of them was ever scared of him. I would take him to all of our cookouts and family reunions and things like that. The parents loved him because he would keep the kids occupied for hours on end playing ball. You have made a very wise choice in getting a German Shepherd. Was the greatest dog I ever owned and would recommend them to anyone. I also got mine from a breeder and was able to meet the parents, got a whole family tree going back 10 generations. When he was about 8 months old I did basic obedience training with him and it was the best $400 I have ever spent.
