you must understand, i'm not mean, but i can't keep this in anymore, there is one pool ledgend, who has zero persoanlity, this guy is WEIRD!!!!!!!! i mean there is nothing there, like i say i'm not saying this to be cruel, just well, it's 1:30am and this board has been slow, anyhow before i say who it is, i will say he has proven himself to be the greatest oldest player in the world, besides efren reyes, ok here it is: nick varner. this guy i dunno, his personlaity got hit by a car, and he lived but his persoanlity died, holly sheet,i've dealt with him now on several occasions, and let me tell you something, i think he just may be related to lawrence welk, and perry como, or is that coma, anyhow, just telling you all, with nick varner there is good and bad news, his game lives on, and his persoanlity, well, it went to a better place.goodnight, from raleigh.

I've given you bad rep points for slagging one of the nicest pool players alive. I hope everyone does.

lol, well put!

the problem i have with this thread, is even if bernie is right and nick is as boring as a plank, there's absolutely no need to shout it from the rooftops. whats the point? it's just nasty and uncalled for. it also enforces many people's views that you are the one with the personality problem, not a living legend like nick varner.

and while we're on the subject of nick varner, am i the only one who sees the striking resemblance to gene wilder - the original willy wonka in charlie and the chocolate factory? :D
i do!!! lol

I joined you Gunn_Slinger this man deserves bad rep from everyone. He reminds me of a little kid that is so starved for attention even negative attention is a turn on for him.

When I meet someone and for some reason don't like them, I don't have anything to say to them. If that makes me a wet noodle, so be it. I'd rather stay quiet than be rude to them.

People are attracted the greatness, and I can only imagine how many people approach Nick on a daily basis when he is at a major event. For myself, it would be very hard sometimes not to be rude if I was mobbed by strangers all the time wanting my attention.

I have met Nick a few times over the last 20 years and he has been nothing short of a gentleman every time. Forget about his prime, I'd kill to have his game now.

Well Bernie baby, all i can say is i really want to be there when you show your face at the next IPTevent(if we have one).
You actually used to be quite a popular chap on the IPT but since we have been going through our payment problems you have turned on anyone and everyone for ne apparent reason, and you have made your assumptions on brief meetings and maybe one or two encounters with these hall of famers and greats of the game"THEY DESERVE MORE RESPECT".
i reall would of expected a man of your age to know better.

Dennis is also fun to hang around with. Corey and I were having a good time with him in Reno. I believe YOU are the problem Bernie.

Of all the years I've hung out with Corey, I've never seen him not sign an autograph for someone. When you approached him in Reno, trying to impress the girls from the Cancer seminar next door, telling them that you were best friends with all the top players and could get his autograph for them. I thought it was strange that Corey refussed to sign an autograph for you. Then when you came back to the girls and told them that Corey was being an ass, I overheard and stepped in and told them it was because of you and I would get Corey to sign the program for them. Shocking to you, Corey signed it without a problem, and I gave it to the girls and told them that it was because of you that Corey would't sign it. I thought that was funny, because right before you asked him, I overheard you telling the girls that you and Corey were good friends.

Your exactly right.

Bernie and MOST of the IPT players were pretty much like oil and water. They didn't mix, and if they did it was only for a split second. I personally witnessed Raj tell Bernie "you got the 6 out" with a look of disgust on his face. Not to mention the Earl fiasco....

After the finals on Sunday, (Reno) Efren was buying drinks down in the bar. Pretty much all the players were hanging out. Bernie damn near wore out the soles of his shoes circling the bar. He was dying to sit down and mingle, but afraid to. You could just see it.... He was as out of place as a matza ball in a japanese restaurant.

The cancer women stopped by and talked with me for awhile also. Seems Bernie made himself out to be the guy to beat. No telling what other BS he fed them. If you'd stand still long enough, Bernie would talk to you. If you had a camera...he'd walk right up and tell you "I'm on the IPT, take my picture". Yeah right....

Bernie burnt the bridges before he ever got to them.

personality?

This thread reminds me of why I like pool so much.

I've played with doctors, lawyers, pros, Indians, accountants, car mechanics, real estate and insurance salesmen, bartenders, painters, cooks, bums, Sailors, Marines, students, teachers, etc., etc., etc..

If the table is level, it is also the level. We/they all get judged on our performance on the slate; the rest is just interesting. I guess what I am saying is, if you can't consistently beat Nick V., you have a ways to go before you can complain about his personality. It's not relevant.

(Mention the IPT here, to stay on topic.) IPT.

Nick

I just want to say that Nick Varner is one of the classiest gentlemen I have ever had the chance to know and I have known him for many years. Anyone who would diss him obviously doesn't know him.

Bernie is entitled to his opinion..

forget about playing ability, forget about heart attack, there are some people who are wet noodles, another one is dennis occorulo, this guy ,well let me tell ya, all i'm saying is this, lacking, that's all lacking.
there needs to be star power,in pool, for instance nick varner was approached to do a huge documentry on pool, the director said "you are one of the most inspirational players that ever lived, i would love to have you in my documentry which will be released around the world, for pool fans and others alike what do you say? and nick just stood there chewing like a cow,and didn't even give him an answer, then the director said, well if you just want to come onto the set, meet me tonight, and he gave him the location and again in leaving the director said it would be my honor for you just to show up, again(chewing like a cow,no anser) nick never showed, that says a lot about nick, this director is giving him respect god like comments, compliments what have you, and he chews gum back in his face, doesn't even show up on the shoot!,this was a slap in the face of pool! say what you will, but that was a slap in the face of pool.

As much as all you guys want to attack Bernie for what he said about Nick and Orcollo, HE IS ENTITLED TO HIS OPINION!

BERNIE LIVES IN A FREE COUNTRY, AND HE CAN SAY WHATEVER THE HELL HE WANTS EVEN IF ANY OF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT HE SAYS.

So everybody, GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSES.

You're right. And we are free to disagree and give our own opinion, of Nick Varner, Bernie, and anyone else we care to.

At least allow us the same privileges and rights you bestow upon Bernie.

You are correct. Bernie has every right to say what he wants even when it shows what an ill-mannered, insecure, nonsensical contributor he is.

I would humbly suggest that Bernie spend some(MOST) of the time he uses to post here to:

1. Learn the functions of the Shift Key for capitalization and the Enter key for creating paragraph breaks

2. Learn and practice pool fundamentals which he seems to know little about

3. Read and understand "How to Win Friends and Influence People"

4. Get a life!

Better one minute in Nick Varner's shoes, than a lifetime in yours.

I'm still kinda bummed about this thread. It's just mean-spirited.

In an effort to brighten it up, I present my autographs of Nick Varner and Corey Deuel. Both were obtained at the IPT event last December in Orlando.

I guess I should thank Bernie for making me get these and the other 100 or so autographs I have out of the drawer they are kept in.

Maybe I should start another thread. Anyone wanna see some more?:)

I just have to second this. Maybe one of the two or three best All Around players around today. And still playing great, well into his 50's. Stand up guy and a fearless gambler. More heart per square inch than anyone I ever saw.

Bernie, you are entitled to your opinion, but you picked the wrong guy to knock here. You should pray that you had one ounce the class of this MAN! Personality? Nick epitomizes the strong silent type. Don't be fooled by his size, Nick is all man.

You couldn't carry his cue Bernie!
