I heard that somewhere or maybe it was just no WPBA at Vegas in 2008?

Did anyone hear that?

That is correct. The BCA has chosen to move the pro events to coincide with their Annual Trade Show in Charlotte in June.

Is this the same Trade Show that they closed to public a few years back? Hopefully they have reconsidered that as well and allow the public to attend the trade show as they did in the past.

Seems like an obvious decision.

Very bad move. With no pros walking around & talking with us common players, it takes some excitement out of going. Who wants to pay all that money to go see a bunch of other bar bangers? In between matches, there's very little to do & mingling with the pros & doing the "pay for game & photo" thing is the way many spend their spare time. I'd rather spend the money to go enter the DCC, then. The BCA is funded by thousands of bar room players who are enthusiasts of the game & fans of the pros. Take their pros away from them & you might just lose them as well, = no more BCA to speak of.

I would have to agree. A big part of the BCA tourney in Vegas was the chance to see the pros play. That will definitely have an impact on my decision to attend in future years.

I fully agree! I usually spend my time between matches watching the pros play. It will make me think twice in the future as to whether I go to the BCA Nationals.

Dit Burn it!!

The pros are 70% of the reason I do the BCA thing every year-Looking on the bright side-this goofy move by the BCA will save me anywhere from $2000.00 to $10,000.00 next year. Yipee! No way I am going now.

Sounds cool for my home town Charlotte. We have not had a men's pro stop since Camel tour in 2000 and only one wpba.

what a bummer

Man that sucks! I had more fun watching matches and collecting autographs than I ever had losing my money in the casinos... Even if you play well you still have a TON of time to kill. I mean how many mini's can you play in a week.

During my first Trip to Nationals I remember the fist time I went upstairs to the "penthouse" level and I walked in the room and Steve Mizerak was playing right up front....

I nearly shat myself from the excitement of it all! ha

Even in the tournament my first match I was so nervous that I could barley
hold my cue without fouling DOH!

Lets just say that there is a very good chance that there will be a least a few Pro's in attendance at the BCA and a little something to sweat as well.

Maybe Mark Griffin can give us his reasoning for this decision?
Not Mark's decision. The pro event is Peg Ledmans's (sp). She went with the trade show to Charlotte. I am sure there are reasons, I just do not understand them. We hope to work with Mark on putting something pretty special together for the tournament.

Are they talking about moving the women and the men to Charlotte? I know that is sucks for the guys that regularly attend in Vegas, but since I am close to Charlotte... It's good news for me.

Cool. I'm glad to hear Mark had nothing to do with it. Didn't seem like a characteristic move of him. Too bad, anyways. Vegas won't be the same without the pros hanging around. I'll be out there again this year with my team. Hopefully you all have something good in store for us. I don't have a lot to offer, but if you need help with anything that I can do, let me know. Pool has been picking up a bit lately, but this would be a huge step backwards. I think we'd all rather see it continue to move forward.
