Sniper (and you too ChefJeff),
It's not that I've been ignoring (well actually, in the same way you ignore those pesky ants at the picnic, I have been) your juvenile attempts to impugn my character; it's just that, right now, I've been a little busy with this DCC extravaganza. While it is certainly NO EXCUSE for not participating, I plan to play for real a little later in the tournament (once I have an idea what you deadbeats....err.....worthy competitors can do).

I've played several practice sessions of 5 or 6 racks at a time; and I'm probably averaging 12-14 per rack; FAR BELOW what I was doing last year on easier equipment (and my game is vastly improved over last year). I am revising my estimate of the effect of tough equipment on your score. I think tough equipment is at least a 200 ball difference to 1000 points; and perhaps more. The only change in my equipment is the age of the cloth; and it has made a huge difference. Having said all that, I'm still shooting for an 800; but I need a week or two more of practice. I've invited Satman over to Betmore's Basement; maybe he will take me up on it and I can get a few pointers.

Good luck guys.

It's good to hear you will be getting into the swing of things soon and I understand what your saying about it being a busy time of year for pool....Mosconi Cup, DCC, etc.

At least you had the balls to participate, there are still alot of people ducking and hiding from participating, I threw my crappy scores up so they should have nothing to be embarrased about.

P.S. I plan on probably doing a second attempt at the challenge to reach my intended goal of 658 which I missed on my first attempt by a considerable margin.

Get the clusters out early. While you have plenty of balls on the table. Less likely to get no shot after. I also look for those balls close to the hole that may block another ball from going. When I get down to 8 balls left on the table, I start planning the rotation part. Sorry, I didn't explain well enough. If you leave the clusters and balls on the end rails for last, You're asking for trouble. Good luck, Sam

Good advice. open clusters, clear the pockets, clear the rails, and clear congestion, if possible.

I've been lucky enough to have made several banks to continue runs. Twice I had to make a combination on my tenth ball and get shape on the lowest numbered and luckily succeeded.

If you keep making balls it will all work out.:D

I'd be real good if I didn't miss so much.

Well, I'm going to wait then until I qualify for the IPT before posting any more scores. Come to think of it, I'll wait until I spank Efren, then I'll post my DMMHT scores. :D

When is this thing over?...I'd better hurry up with my plans. :p Now where did I put my cue?

Hey Chef Jeff

Do you play at Big Dog in Des Moines? I stopped in there night before last. Played 3 races to 7 with Jason C. We split the first two and then he won the last one 7-6.

I also met a guy (Tony?) who praised the KT book...

... and also told me there are really no terrorists.
... that the US government did 9-11
... that the world is really controlled by .... well you get the idea. Know him?

JL,
LMAO...You are a keen judge of character and motives. I probably wouldn't be so hesitant if I could run more than 3 freaking balls at a time; and if there weren't 3,000 freaking pool players reading this thread (waiting to laugh at me, you know they're laughing, I can hear their voices, they follow me at night sometimes, I think they're controlling my cue ball with microwaves). Anyway, I might start this weekend.:( :(

Hi Mike...Yes, I do go there sometimes...I've known Jason since the late 80's. He's the one I mentioned, on another thread, that offered to bet me on the spot shot on that Canadian snooker table using pool balls the last time I was in there on the 8th playing BCA league....I don't know (Tony)...not sure I want to.

Maybe we'll get to play next time you're in town.;)

I am now officially utterly inconsistent. I will shortly be packing up and moving to the small town of Inconsistency where they will elect me Major. If I was still living back in England I would be crowned the King of Inconsistency and have a palace built in my honor. (Well actually that's not true, they just find some mad old member of the aristocracy and kick them out of their stately home any time they need a spare one, saves a lot of money that way.)

Well, that's better than being the King of Incontinence. ;)

These scores seem a bit fishy to me. Way too consistent if you ask me. Excluding that lone 3 in the first set, all his scores are conveniently between 6 and 12. Statistically speaking, it's very improbable to have such a low standard deviation at his skill level. You would expect a couple of 1s and 2s in the mix. Likewise, if he can string a couple of 10s and 12s, you'd think he would be able to reach a score of 16 or 18 a handful of times. My verdict...either he made these scores up, or he didn't record the several 0s, 1s, and 2s he certainly should have accumulated.

Sorry, I shouldn't criticize since I haven't posted my scores...yet. ;)

Whoops, forgot about Chance (good thing I'm not betting!). I was talking about Campus, spelled with a K (sometimes, anyway). Both can probably kick my ass nowadays.

What's up with all the good players being named, "Jason?" Damn! maybe I should just change my name.:p

Thanks for the correction...I need all the help I can get.

Yes I did mean Jason Chance. Plays stronger than me. I was fortunate to (almost) keep up with him for a few sets. He hangs around with Jamie, another name associated with many people I have no business playing.

And just WHICH weekend is THIS weekend, Doc?

Are you just gonna make up some good numbers or are you actually gonna shoot some pool?

Williebetmore?....I doubt it as it requires first playing some to bet more. :D

JL,
I DON'T need your help in this matter; if I wanted someone to continuously point out my flaws and shortcomings, I'd get married...oops...well, I guess I'm already married. Anyway, my wife thanks you for the help.

I DON'T need your help in facing reality (that's what I take all these pills for....come to think of it, I COULD use some more pills.. let's see the one pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small, but the one that mother gives you, don't do anything at all.. I'll ask Alice).

Well I did 40 racks on Wednesday after staying up all night Tuesday, under frightfully difficult circumstances. I had been gone for 2 days so the kids had turned off the dehumidifier in Betmore's Basement, and I had a little trouble with the speed and the cushions (I can only play under perfect conditions... you know, like in Peoria). Also my back was hurting a little bit. I was rushing a little also, since I had to prepare for my weekly 14.1 thrashing from my professional opponent. The blinds in the basement are a little defective, they were supposed to be completely sun-proof, but were delivered with these little holes that leak spots of light onto the table. Since I had to do the challenge during the day, I had to deal with these little spots on the table - I doubt Efren could have pocketed 2 in a row in such brutal circumstances. One of the family had thrown a Christmas stocking on the table, and there was a little glitter that I could not get off; costing me a few balls. I think if conditions had been just right I could have knocked off a 997 or 998 - maybe next year (now where are those little pills that are supposed to stop all the delusions???)

I was thinking the same thing when I saw those scores. Often the first 6 balls are the toughest. To get to 6 balls, 49 times out of 50 and not make more than a 12 one time seems like an enormous mental barrier for rotation or rigged scoring.
