Equipment: 9’ Black Crown with 4” pocket at back and around 4 ½ at front. Plays really tight down rails.

Round #1: 20,14,18,20,17,20,20,18,16,20 = 183

On the 17, I pocketed the last ball and got a little cute with backspin, scratched!! Is that –1 or 2? I didn’t count the ball made and –1.

Round #2: 20,20,20,20,20,19,20,20,20,18 = 197
Round #3: 18,20,19,03,12,20,12,16,20,20 = 160
Round #4: 19,20,20,12,20,20,20,11,20,20 = 182
Round #5: 20,20,20,14,20,20,20,20,20,19 = 193

Total: 915

For the most part everything went my way on each round... The 160 and 182, real battles with a lot of luck. I would be happy shooting 700-800.

Alrighty then, the down and dirty, finally...first session was cold, (couple of FLYING Cue Balls), :o, once I got warmed up I shot in the range I had hoped for, 7-12 points per rack...I'll post the last couple of sessions tomorrow...hoping for a couple of Fluke 20's... ;oP ...HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well...whataya know, The Pool Gods do smile upon us sometimes!...As you can see I found the right Stategy for a few racks! I'm telling you when I saw so many players posting multiple 20's, I was nervous! Even when I saw the 20's presenting themselves I had to work the nerves to get out!

Anyway, this was very challenging, showed me a lot of areas to work on and gave me something new and challenging for practice and gauging my progress.

Thanks to DM, (In Memorial), ;) and WBM for a great Tourny! Kudos to all who participated, hopefully I made a good Rookie showing, (save that first Session)

This was a good test of skills, but I don't think I play anywhere near the "Pro" level. i think I did well because I play alot of straight pool. Next time we need a bonus for banking a ball during the rack!:).........Gerry

This game is just like the one i play with my girlfriends little brother, we play eightball but after the break i get to shoot anything i want in any order and all he has to do is make the eight and win. Except for the shooting of the last five ball in numerical order, this part is what caused my low scoring, cause i didn't think that far ahead just got down and fired away. Very fun game, gives myself goals to set for myself.

Nov 29th 3:30 A.M
I just finish'd my third session, finally got the urge to go downstairs, this time around i was really into it, my two 19's could of been perfect scores except for the balls going into the pockets and bouncing back out  For shure i will get the last two tomorrow. Cole.

Dec 1st 4:22 A.M
Done.

The rating system on this is pretty accurate I think. I believe I currently play at semi pro level and at my house I play maybe a bit better which would put me middle of the pack semi pro out at the local rooms.

Session notes: first two sessions were played in wet conditions (raining and humid). I closed up the house, A/C for 20 min and table played alot easier. Really broke poorly in session 4 with 4 scratches in 10 racks. In all my sessions most of my misses were very makeable shots, just couldn't seem to keep the intensity which has always been a problem for me when I don't shoot regularly. Seems to also be the last element to get back when I try to get back into stroke.

It's been a very long time since I have played by myself, 1-3 hrs a night for three nights in a row on my home table. This was really enjoyable, thanks to everyone who participated and to Drivermaker and Williebetmore for running this.

Session #5 = 16,12,14,12,2,16,20,12,15,16 = 135

AVG. = 140.40 per set, 14.04 per rack

First Set: (11-29-05) I love this game. What a great practice game. It has many aspects of many different games. It was allot of fun. Of course all of you already knew this. LOL THANKS!

Second Set: (11-30-05) It's funny how when you start something without practicing it first, how quickly you begin to learn. I think just coming up with a strategy after each break is more fun than actually shooting it. How odd is that?

Third Set: (12-02-05) Well, I did have only one real bad rack this time, but I only had one 20 too. My new strategy seemed to give me better opportunities to run out. I just had the rattles today. I had my laptop going next to the table and was watching the live scores for the IPT. Anyway, my new strategy was simple and I feel it was much easier to run balls this way. I basically left the balls in the middle of the table for my final 5 unless I got in trouble. I just shot all the corner pockets clear and got everything in off the ends. That way all I would have left is mostly follow shots back and forth, up and down the table on the last 5 balls. I figured this gives you the most pocket options (usually a choice of two or three on each shot) and the most room to leave a shot in the right line. If it weren't for my rattling, I really think I would have had more 20's or 19's. I will take the early penalty if I don't have a good shot to work a pattern off of instead of taking a tough shot and getting a 0. I feel it is worth it.

Fourth Set: (12-04-05) I stayed with this same strategy and the only change I made was to try and follow the cue ball ever so slightly on the break to keep from getting a kick in side scratch. That really seems to be the best for me breaking wise. I'm hitting the break shot with medium speed and trying to get the cue ball to rool up right where the head ball on the rack was. NOTE TO SELF: When you have a few great racks, don't get a big head. LOL How many times to we think we are invincible once we string together some great racks. Ugg! Well I fell off the wagon due to that.

Fifth Set: (12-04-05) I had one game where I should have taken the ball to the head spot off the break and didn't...hence the 2 pointer. I also played this one right after the fourth set. Probably should have spread it out a day. After 3 sets I was at like a 140 average and after 5 I was still there. I know it is only 5 sets, but it was interesting how that works out like that.

ANYWAY, thanks! This was lots of fun and will be part of my regular practice session.

Please elaborate. If you counted it as a miss, how did you only lose one point?

ConArtist,
Yes, by all means, please elaborate. Please re-read the rules and make any corrections if you feel there may have been an error - the rules for the opening of the game ARE a little complicated.

Well I'm not going to make excuses and I may get hammered for some of my scores but WTF.

I've been playing 13 months and I am determined to get good at this game.

Table, Kasson Orion, stick Viking F108 with Predator 314 shaft AND a 42" Troubleshooter because my room isn't really big enough for a pool table.
