Okay who oredered a Balance Rite Extension in the past few days

Couple months ago I start use a longer bridge, and a more sport stance (with both knees bent), so I'm now holding the cue to the butt end and I feel a longer cue will be better. So that extension should be a great solution, also it will make my cue heavier, so now i can use only the cue weight to make all shots, no need to force the arm on medium/power shots.
Now I'm playing my best pool.

I have one and I like the feel of it for the same reasons above. Don't use it all the time. I switch back and forth but leave it on the days I play with it.

When you see top pros using them, you know it's a worth while thing to try. They don't usually change what they're comfortable with unless they are getting paid for it or it works. Johnnyt

Got Mine (Balnce Rite Extension)

Used it first the first time today. I played fairly well. The great thing is now my hand is actually on the wrap rather than the butt cap. I will keep using it and see how I like it in the long run but so far so good!

Sounds like a post I might have made the day I started using 60" cues.

Maniac (although now, most of my cues are wrapless)

The only complaint I have about the "Balance Rite" is the maker put the logo under the clear coat rather than just using a clear sticky (so you could peel it off). When making a practice forward stroke the "logo" comes into my peripheral vision and is distracting. So I have to turn the cue until the "logo" is pointed down. (out of sight). Just me.
I will probably remove the logo and re-clear coat the extension.

Other than that, I really like it.

Earl, Shane, Mika, Jason and possibly John...might not pass...also Mika, Jason and John play for a living and are not sponsored by Balance Rite...they are using it because it works!

Why would MIka use a balance right extension instead of the mess extension that his butt is already built to accept??

The Balance Rite adds 2oz of weight to the middle of the cue. Which in turn changes the balance point of the cue moving the weight more forward on the cue. The cue, when in the shooting position, feels more balanced rather than feeling the majority of the weight in your grip hand from the butt.
This is my guess as to why Mikka uses the product. I know it works for him.

A long time ago a friend of mine used adhesive backed lead strips on the middle of his cue. Never asked him why.

Here is my custom joint extension in progress...

made in Germany...

This is only one made for you? Or it can be produce more? Do you have a price? I'm living not so far from Germany so and I'm interested in that extension. Thanks.

I had the idea years ago. I just wanted a little extra weight tho and the rubber roll on wrap was enough for me. Rolled it onto the forearm of my cue. I hated the way it poked and it made using my instroke a hassle so I stopped. Just got a heavier shaft. After that I started using an Andy Gilbert and the butt heavy thing went away. Custom ordered a BCM cue and again no butt heavy issue. I'd rather have a custom cue than the odd looking middle of the cue extension. Doesn't it change the feel of the cue?

As far as the extension working for MIka I'd hold off on saying that until he wins a U.S. Open using one. After all he won 2 back to back U.S. Opens using a mezz without the balance rite extension

My hang-up is that I wouldn't want yet another joint on my playing cue. I mean, if joints are a GOOD thing...then we'd all be playing with those gimmicky 7-piece jointed cues you always see on the clearance rack at Wallyworld!!!

I would actually prefer a nicely tapered 1-piece cue...but I find carrying one to the pool hall is such a hassle, coupled with the fact that some drunkard will probably mistake it for a house cue and pick it up when my head is turned.

I bought one a few weeks ago and having practised with it for 4 or 5 hours I don't like it. Feels to me that the balance is too much forward. My stroke isn't perfect therefore I use a shorter bridge length than many and the gadget doesn't help me sooooooooooooo. I 'll sell mine for 20$ postage paid to the U.S.. Oh, th ethreads are 516x14. Received yesterday the extension and put in on my Joss cue, also add a 0.58 oz weight bolt in the butt. Played 16 racks of 8-Ball. The extension is OK, I feel it makes the shaft a little whippy, overall it's an interesting feel, and you can give it a try. The good part is you can reach almost each shot on the table, without rack.

I have to spend some time to get used to it.

PS Yes, that extension isn't a magic solution:(

When you add an extension to a cue for normal playing, whether its in the joint area or the rear, the balance point shifts back, not forward (UNLESS IT'S MADE OF A MUCH HEAVIER MATERIAL THAN THE REST OF THE BUTT). If you add a 3" extension to the joint area, you will grip the cue 3" in front of where you previously gripped the cue. If you add the extension to the end of the cue, obviously that moves the balance point back as well. Remember, you're bridge length and distance between bridge grip don't change.

If you truly use the extension only for long shots, you're holding the cue all the way at the end of the butt anyway. What does it matter where the extension is? The entire cue is in front of your grip.

This is not intended to be an opinion or commentary or on the merits of rear-weighted or forward-weighted, just facts. :)

You are Correct

The reason I really like it is now I hold the cue 3" further up and my hand is actually on the wrap now. I have a fairly long bridge length and I was holding the butt below the wrap on the butt plate right above the bumper. I feel much more comfortable and steady with my hand 3' further up on the wrap. Not a magic pill as someone said on an earlier post but more a matter of comfort and stability.

Your facts are wrong. If you add weight in front of the balance point, the balance point shifts forward. If you add weight behind the balance point the balance point shifts to the rear.

finally played with my radial balance rite and ran 3 out of the first four racks. Of course I broke really good and had a shot after but did like the feel from the beginning. I did miss some of the same shots I was in the past but overall I'm satisfied with my first go around. I'll let ya'll know how round 2 goes after this Friday.
