Ask Danny Harriman about a call in his game with Shane. I didn't even stay to watch the race to 21. Now adays people think it is ok to lower their standards to someone else's. I spoke with Jrs. father afterwards as well. I spent my time becoming more aquainted with locals when the whole 5 players started on one table. Is this the only point the fans appalaued for locals on slop and jr. slopped in how many dam near 100 balls he played the same way but most people haven't a clue. The excuse immediately was if this was in the phillipines you would have done the same cut up the americans and H P said we would not. then the comparison the ucking poker game. You just cut the short stack up. Who would play dennis anyway in a race to 21 with safety's. My thoughts all night were anybody can enter lets just let one Asian gang member in and i good ol boy from Compt Calif and we will have a couple shootings.This is why pool is one step from being a ucking criminal. No Good will ever come in this game because this is what oddly seems to happen. I thank Dan and his staff for keeping the game rolling and the food coming no buddy went home hungry ! !! Its always the same shit just another day in paradise! !! There should be an ol vet fund started for the new group of young players who Die prematurely because of what. same shit just anothe rday in the life of. Some people have to die for others to live the quote from Alcoholics. Anyonimus What ever right . Thanks the the action report as well Godd think the camera's were pointing in the firght direction. Maybe utube would put some pictures out Here's what it looks like to be with no control of your functions. Thanks to all the cue makers who are trying to make a living with out them I'd never come in the beginning to these cops shows about the bad guys wher it is simply al about the cash. This could have been stopped though...The owner Dan Tull didnt do anything....If he would have came out of the crowd and said no this isn't going to go down like this and said redraw order and rebreak and play honest or get the hell out of here.....When i Personally asked if he is going to do anything to stop this as soon as it happened...he kind of lAUghed at me and said Orcullo quit..............WHAT AN ABSOLUTE A$$HOLE!!!!...THESE GUYS JUST MADE A MOCKERY OF HIS POOL ROOM AND HE LET IT HAPPEN..............He should have been the last person in the world laughing!!

I do not blame the players because there is no money in pool and they have to fight and do the wrong things sometimes just to survive.....Some might say well you had a big bet against banks jr to win the tourney thats why u were so mad but even if I didnt have a bet this would have offended me horribly its gross what happened...Needless to say these tourneys are done there won't be another like it after this incident...but if Dan Tull would have done the right thing and step in because it was his room and his tourney...then it would have set a precident and let people know that shady things like this can't go on in Pool if we ever expect it to be a respectable sport with good money for the great players.........

Assuming that's what happened, I agree... it is a joke. If you can do it with 2 people, you can do it with 4, etc, and totally fix the outcome. You got lucky - you could have been screwed because of that w/ your Incardona bet. If that would have cost me the bet/match, I wouldn't have paid.

LOL Jay, it's more or less a cautionary tale. These 2 kids have to watch their backs from now on. And whoever is controlling the side-betting might be in big trouble if it happened to be an inside job.

Around 1968 I was playing a guy in a bar some 8-ball for $10 a game and I'd been beating him for hours. He says that he has to get some more money from home (there weren't any ATMs back then) and would I play his brother for $10 a game when he returned. I was hitting them good and winning alot of money (for the 60s) and said, "SURE." He wanted to know if I'd raise the bet and play for $20 a game when he returned and give him a chance to get his money back and I said, "OK."

He was gone for almost an hour and when 'they' got back, I almost fell on the floor. His 'brother' was MY brother.

Everyone who is running down McMinn, Banks and Dan Tull needs to stand down until they KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!!!

Orcollo did not have $3300 left. He had $300. How do I know? I was running the scoreboard and I TYPED IT IN!!! This really has no bearing on the point at hand but goes to show that false information has been put out.

I have the whole game on video. Dan and Eveyln came over and we pulled the tape and looked at it. Both decided that when McMinn passed the shot he was within the rules. I will post the video and anyone who thinks McMinn left Banks a "straight in" shot on the 1 is nuts. Banks made a great shot to stay out of an easy scratch.

A lot of people spent a lot of time effort and money to put on something that is new and exciting for pool. The LEAST everyone involved deserves is the benefit of the doubt until all the FACTS have been brought to light.

Both of these young players, played great pool over a LONG period of time against strong competition to get to the finals. Anyone who condemns them over what a poster, who up till now was held in little regard, needs to chill the hell out.

Everything was not perfect. The first attempt at something rarely is.

A few posters have brought some sense to this thread. Wait till you get all sides of the story before you get your torches and pitch forks out.

I am still on the road and will have the website fixed and video posted by tomorrow.

If you hate the game and the players so much why do you bother with coming to tournaments. Do you just like to show people how sharp your insight is to what people(who you may or may not know) are thinking? I think people with this "Every player is a criminal" attitude is the real cancer on this game.

Boy, I'd hate to have some of these folks on a jury. All it takes is a little hyperbole to get 'em worked up and ready to hang.
 
it happened other ways too

watched all weekend. and that one shot didn't end dennis chances. on tables where there were only three people, there were safeties going on, don't get me wrong, they were shooting the ball, but knew where whitey was going, SAFE. and i saw alot of the "pros" doing it. so when you say that collusion was going on, it was happening earlier, just not everyone was focused on it like they were when it was down to three people. no one said anything earlier because they still had 2800 3800 5500 and playing for 100/200/300.
 
I just realized my left n#$ hangs lower than my right.

I came back on here to edit this because I didn't want to hear any sheeite about "what are you playin' with, etc." I was trying to get a chuckle after all of this overblown seriousness.

Yeah those kids played good and I dont see anything wrong with what they did..... I do however wonder about that "honest effort' rule.....how the hell do you really enforce that type of rule with a field as strong as that one?

I was also at the tournament and I also helped Evelyn and Danny keep score at different times during the tournament...along with that I also consider both Mikey and Shane to be friends of mine and having said that it is rather funny to see people so quick to impugn on the character of two guys they've never met and were not even there watching!

For the record and to agree with JCIN here...the shot was "NOT" straight nor was it a hanger! Whether or not it even went past the two ball was questionable and even if you did make it getting on the five later in the rack was no picnic! Considering the amount of money at stake and the pressure on a young guy (Mikey's only like 19) there was a very good chance of him not getting out and possibly of even jarring the one and leaving a hanger!

Shane was playing the odds and Orcullo got PO'd and left...Mikey's little bump shot into the eight was after the fact and didn't count for anything!

They were not doing business on Orcullo and yes I've heard that directly from the horses mouth so to speak. The fact of the matter is, Orcullo was so short stacked he was done regardless.

As a side note though, I find it interesting that a lot of the people on here who play poker find nothing wrong with teaming up on somebody who's short stacked in a poker tournament but get all self righteous about it when it's a pool game! Seems to be a bit of a double standard to me.

Anyways, congrats to both Shane and Mikey they both played jam up and deserved it! The fact of the matter is they both consistantly broke the best through the whole tournament and that's why they ended up where they were!

PS Sorry JCIN if I just repeated some of what you already had said. It just irritates me when people post BS about stuff they weren't even present for. And by the way...thanks for all the hard work you put in to try and make things enjoyable for the people there and at home! :-)
