does anyone know of any REALLY GOOD 1 hole match videos that they would recommend? I was looking on accustats hoping i could find a Cliff Joyner / Efren match, but no luck :(

any help is appreciated.

There are dozens of them available. One that comes to mind is Daulton/Joyner from the 2002 DCC. Another is Daulton/Reyes from the Legends of One Pocket IV (1998). You might check with onepocket.org. There are some good recommendations there.

In the above 3 matches, you will see Efren adapt his play to his opponents. He plays devistating safeties against Alex & Jason and then runs out whenever the slightest opening appears. Against Billy, Efren uses more moving to prevail...incredible patience on both sides.

EDIT: I once asked the same question as you. Other matches that were mentioned at that time were:

1P4-11: Daulton vs Reyes (Good, but Daulton wasn't at his best)
D4-1P3: Joyner vs Daulton
1P00-08: Alex vs Jose (phenominal match...must see!)
1P98-08: Hall vs Jones (a young Jeremiah shows some good game!)

Depends on what you think is REALLY GOOD.
For great commentary, tape # 1P98-12 Buddy Hall vs Ray Martin is commentated by Billy Incardona, Ronnie Allen & Freddy Bentivegna.
Any match with Grady Mathews commentating is A+.

For a unique and novel way of breaking, you have 1P00-06 which is Corey Deuel vs Shannon Daulton. Corey breaks them using an 8 ball break, full out. Grady and Johnny "The Velvet Foghorn" Ervolino are incredulous and funny!

For fans of "The Wedge", any Nick Varner tape is must see viewing.

You mentioned Reyes vs Joyner. Tape # 1P4-07 has that match, commentated by Billy & Grady.

For a classic grudge match with some very funny commentating, you should watch Grady Mathews vs Billy Incardona, tape # R1P-10 with Buddy Hall & W.W. Woody in the booth.

If you want to see how Ronnie Allen played, tape # 1P98-05 has him vs Leil "JR" Gay with Freddy Bentivegna & Tom DiLorenzo in the booth. Ronnie's game had faded somewhat, but the strokes of his great are still evident.

I'm a big Shannon Daulton fan, so I like his matchs, especially against Grady and Nick.

A young Cliff Joyner squares off against 1P legend "Strawberry" Brooks in tape # R1P2-03. The commentating is top shelf with Grady, Ervolino and "Weenie Beanie" Bill Staton sharing the booth.

Allen Hopkins has his own style of 1P. Tape # R1P-01 has him vs Ervolino and, since it's a double header, also has Bill Stephen vs Bill Staton.

For sheer genious, any of the Reyes matches from the DCC 1 pocket tapes will more than suffice.

There is also a great match on Accu stats with Daulton v. Varner. This is where Bill Incardona coins the phrase of "wedge game" as Nicks style of play. Bill gets to laughing so hard about it....its hilarious. The commentary with Bill and Grady is really great in this match too.

efren vs. alex is really nasty, he hits everything just perfectly.

I have 2 hours of reyes vs. joyner in a somewhat grainy computer file...

There's also joyner vs evgeny stalev floating around out there.
 
One of my favorites is Steve Cook vs Mizerak from the 1991 or 1992 LOP tourney .. and also Billy Incardona vs. The Miz the same year.
Really anything with Steve Cook is Phenominal. And the Gradvs Incardona is good too. " These two are playng for eternal bragging rights"- Buddy Hall ... hahhahaha!!!

Like Gulfport Doc sez, if you are a fan of one-pocket especially, head over to onepocket.org for their recommended videos, but word to the wise in the forums stay peaceful and quiet and read much before posting because the old farts who know the best pocket billiards chess/gambling/knowledge game are quite able to rip you a new one if you don't understand "the game".

Specifically to Terry's recommendations, I haven't seen them, but will be on the lookout for them because they don't completely track the 1P suggestions, but Terry made them sound well worthwhile.

I'll second the recommendations on both the Buddy Hall vs. Ray Martin and Grady vs. Cardone matches.

Are there any fans of "The Wedge"? I've gone to sleep several times watching a match between Grady and Nick from the 2000 DCC.

I really enjoyed the Cliff Joyner-Mike Surber match from this year's DCC.
 
A great tape that I can't seem to find a good copy of is Sigel vs Ervolino.

Buddy Hall, Freddie the Beard, Billy I, do some great commentary and it's a hoot to watch J. Ervolino play. My originals got stolen, and I've tried to get copies of the match since its out of print, but they're always screwed up.

Anyone with a good copy, pm me please.

Check out the "internet specials" on Accu-Stats.com- there is a ton of good matches for sale at half price.
 
I have bought dozens of great 1 Pocket Accu-Stats Tapes on eBay over the past several years, but haven't seen many for sale lately ... Keep checking back on eBay and you should find some great matches and great prices ...
 
I have the edited version of Ronnie vs. Danny D. from 1987. The last time I saw Ronnie play good. It's nearly three hours long.

i'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions.

I've been lucky enough to be able to see some of the match ups at diamonds billiards in dallas in person, and Billy I. is great to watch. He's one of the smartest players i've ever seen.

But watching Cliff Joyner play is somthing else entirely. He is like a one pocket freak of nature. I had no idea the game could be played at that level.

again, thanks to everyone for their input on this. i've got alot of choices now.
