Open Offer to Danny Harriman and John Schmidt from TAR

I realize that TAR was trying to create prematch hype. But there's also an element of high-pressure sales tactics at work here too. By announcing this match challenge on AZB, it puts more pressure on both parties, especially Danny, to participate. If Danny declines, which he did, than he gets criticized by everyone on AZB for his decision (regardless of what factors influenced his decision).

That's why I commented earlier that it would have been so much better to negotiate this match challenge quietly using back channels.

No, you are wrong again. Check out Danny's posts before JCIN put up this thread, he started talking sh*t and taking shots at John out of the blue, started the Mosconi Cup thread in the action room, etc.

Danny put his own crazy ass out there on these forums, so it made perfect sense for TAR to do the same thing.

really?????????????

poolsharkallen really? justin knows exactly what hes doing...... and to you justin....... some people just will never get it. putting it on az was the best thing you could have done! thanks for all you do! now lets hear who you got in mind for the next match!

You willing to put $6,000 and your reputation up that Danny will be there?

That is essentially what Justin is doing if he agreed to let the match proceed. If everyone purchased the PPV and Danny backed out, all of the payments would have to be refunded and there may be people who were trying TAR for the first time who wouldn't try again.

I know it wouldn't be a full $6,000, but I know that Justin would compensate Schmitty if he were to show up and the match didn't happen. I wouldn't be willing to do that if it were me. The only way I would consider a match is if both players put up refundable no show money, which John said he would be happy to do.

I'm offering an opinion as to how valid I believe Danny's word is.

Why in the world would I put up $6,000 to see this match take place? If I did that, then I had better be in the Live-streaming business for a profit.

This is probably the most sought after match in the history of TAR.

There will be other exciting matches in TAR's future I'm sure, but nothing compares to this one.

just sayin'...........

Personally I like the SVB / Alex rivalry much better.......

Edited to Add: And I would love to see them match up again and again!!

These two are ALWAYS great to watch, especially against each other. Just not as much drama, as the Harriman/Schmidt matches.

...But this is were you lost me. $1,000 guarantee for a 3 day match that may happen once a year is still $333/day or a $1,000/yr. Certainly not worth over $100,000/yr to them.

Think about this though. Nobody out there is paying pool players $100,000+ annual salaries (or that opportunity only exists for one or two). So if a pool player is to make that kind of money, he gets it in bits and pieces here and there from a variety of means, and they all add up. That is the way it is done in pool. How can they ever expect those smaller scores to ever add up to a nice salary if they keep turning them down?

I think it was President Kennedy who said in his speech at Rice University in 1962, "The reason we do this is because it's hard."

Assuming this is dead. I think the only replacement match where Justin could offer this same deal and have a chance of outrunning the nut, is Efren vr Frost in a long one pocket set. Thats a match needing to happen SOON for one hole supremacy before Efren ages any more. Right now Scott could still be proud of a win. Two years from now.....meh

I'm guessing that Archer verses Van Boening is actually the most sought after match and would have the highest number of PPV subscribers (of the ones that they have tried to make happen), although a Reyes verses Van Boening long race or all around might just eclipse that. In any case though this one was right up there. But like this one, I doubt Archer/Van Boening will come off either, at least any time soon. Sure hope I'm wrong about both.

Since the match doesn't look like it's going to happen...it sure looks like "Justin knows exactly what he's doing."

A different approach might yield better results.

"Would of, could of, and should of" always yield better results! It's a fact; just look it up on WIKI.

I love the internet, everybody is a genius and can run a six-pack before breakfast.

Thanks for trying, Justin and TAR.

What the heck is your deal? Justin knows exactly what he is doing! Justin put this match out there the way he did for a couple reasons: First, so that he could make a public offer to BOTH players after Danny felt he was slighted by Justin offering John $2000 to play before. He offered that to John first, IMO, because John was so adamant about NOT playing. So, naturally he offered it to him first because he knew Danny would most likely accept since he actually wanted a rematch at that point in time.

Second, we all want to see that match and it was a nice feeler to see the publicity it would receive which could indicate how successful the PPV would be. And again, this thread has exploded because it is indeed THE match people would most like to see...you included or you would not be acting the way you are...So, whatever...I am quite sure Justin knows more than you about promoting a match...not sure what you issue is with him but I can attest to the fact your shotty attitude won't fly here....

GOOD DAY!!!

Perhaps I'm a cult of one here but I don't find any special appeal to Shane playing Archer. There are several other guys I'd rather see SVB match up against more than JA.
