Oscar Dominguez in UK tabloids, not good.

Was Jason Shaw mocking our country wearing an eagle mask? Oh wait he has the stupid eagle eye nickname that no one is ever gonna call him publicly. “Hey Ragke Eye, can I have your autograph?”. Would be really answer to that? LMAO. But just showing how things can get transposed by people without a clue.

Oscar wasn’t trying to offend anyone. I’m gonna bet that if you include all he people in the arena, he would be the last one to offend anyone. People need to just relax and not try to micro analyze every little thing. If the announcer didn’t say anything, it would have been less of a deal with the public. But it is no surprise that something was said since ALL of the announcers have been so pro Europe. Even after Hatch and Oscar outplayed Europe, the female host commented that they bacially got lucky to win. Did she even watch the match?
Hell the announcers on day one didn’t even know what a Revo shaft was.

Anyways .....wouldn’t it be interesting if I told all of the non public Mosconi Cup stories I know. The pool world would flip over.

I'm not taking any particular side on the point you guys are arguing but I always feel compelled to say something when I see this used in a debate where one side in trying to buttress their side of it by using 'we' or 'us' to give the appearance that they have many in agreement with them.

In fact, in this case, KD was simply responding to (not "teach", imo) you, and not "us".

You asked him to explain the context of Oscar's comment and that's what it looked like, to me, that he tried to do.

carry on. :)

best,
brian kc

He was responding to a few posts by different people. I grouped those people into an “us”. I wasn’t speaking for the mob called AZB. That’s your role, Brian. I wouldn’t steal your thunder.

Don't go spilling the beans! Way too much negative stuff floating around out there already. keep it buried with Jimmy Hoffa!!!

KD

So, is he for rape or against?

Is he doing a promo for a new show on
Oxygen called, Touched by a rapist?

Are they not called rapists anymore, is
It sexually challenged?

Is this a new aiming system, touch of rape?

Did his friend touch the table in a rapey way?

I can tell by the article that I am triggered.

Im really mad about this.

Problem is, im not sure why?

I also see this move a lot in debate LOL

feel free to sift through thousands of my posts and you'll see there's a theme where I'm just speaking for myself and expressing my opinions

In fact you'll see a lot of "IMO" used in my postings to underscore this. ;)

The Sun used to have lots of 'flesh'.
These days, they are so desperate they even flesh out news of an unknown game called pool.

Oscar showed poor judgment with that stupid remark. However, he wasn't trying to offend anyone and he seems like a good, stable guy. Treat it as a lapse of judgment and move on. It's not like he's running for President :embarrassed2:

Who here has never made a joke about rape, pedophiles, Hitler, etc. It's a joke, not the same jokes someone tells at the office or in mixed company.

There is a guy at work folks make fun of cause he dates really young woman, he's 30, his girlfriends are 18-22.

Sometimes they joke it takes him longer to get to work because he has to avoid 3 schools on the way.

They make jokes about his car, and how the back seat folds, and that is filled with stuffed animals. The car is sound proof, the car has scratch marks on all window, on the inside of course.

I don't think any of them like pedophiles, but they are just giving the guy grief, and he's laughing harder than any of them.

It was a stupid joke, said at the wrong venue, at a really bad time. He apologized.

No big deal.

Pool locker room talk..

:mad::smile:Perfect example of the non pool playing world trying to direct their moral compass into a world they know nothing about. Anyone that has ever been around pool in more than a passing manner would know there are a bunch of pool phrases that would never be called politically correct. Anyone that knows Oscar would know he is one of the gentlemen and ambassadors of this great game. Anyone chiming in that he should be banned is a non playing pool triggered hater that needs to focus on keeping their unwanted opinions to themselves.

This is not in defense of Oscars comment, it was a very insensitive and stupid thing for an intelligent person to say on live t v.

Having said that, you can take the pool player out of the pool hall, but you can't take the pool hall out of the player. If you want true professional show people to perform in these exhibitions that you're putting on, then you need to provide an environment where they can learn to be true professionals. These guys work day jobs and still find time to hone their skills to world class caliber. When you work for a living and when your second home is the pool hall your probably going to act like a regular Joe, that includes some uncouth behavior. Providing one or two opportunities a year for these guys to be on life tv is not enough to expect professional behavior.

Having said that, I'm not entirely positive that matchroom wants choir boys on these broadcasts. Watching on star sports, as i do not pay the cable companies extortion to watch ESPN, most of the commercials were from sports books clearly aimed at men. The rest oddly enough were for children's toys, I'm not sure if they are targeting children with the gambling ads or trying to remind gamblers to buy their kids gifts before they loose all their money. It also seems that controversy gets the old twittersphere going like nothing else, trending is trending regardless of the reason. The target audience they want might tune in to see what will be said next.

While Oscar is responsible for having said those words, matchroom is entirely responsible for them being heard over the air on "live" tv. Have they never heard of a tape delay? That's like live tv 101 stuff. Why would they expect complete professionalism when they have some things to learn themselves.

Today my area got it's first snowfall of the season. Then I read this thread, and it's chock full of snowflakes. Coincidence???

Oh the horror of it all

The fact that this even needs to be explained makes me extremely sad.

Do any of you know how hard it is to remember that you are mic'd up? If you do it every day, then yeah, it becomes much easier. Trust me, there have been many times in my work, where somebody says something inappropriate for being mic'd up and those people wear mic's WAY more often than once per year.

If this was said in the action room at derby, everybody would be laying of the floor laughing, not butt hurt and seeking counseling.
Jason

What he said.
No apologies. If anyone thinks Oscar was condoning rape with that comment, they need to drink a gallon of bleach and take a nap.

It appears the pussification of the masses is nearly complete.
