Overbumps

Lol...well I can't help you there. You just need to have better product for sales I guess. :grin-square: I mean if you have something worth while...people are smart enough to find it.....doesn't matter how many page its buried under. Post a Southwest on here and I'm sure even if it buried..you'll get buyers. Wish I could automatically subscribe to thread based on key word....than I don't have to scan for deals.

You might not, but you are one of the ones that have sold cues getting comments.

I put a cue up for sale and within minutes is was 5 pages back, because of a bunch of turds commenting "Beautiful cue, someone should buy it!"

That type of commenting does not belong in the for sale forum.

My point was, usually the people commenting, are the same people over and over. Which implies that your AzB buddies are bumping threads for each other. That's not allowed.

I get your point with the shill commenting...but it's useless if you got nothing worth selling. I don't care how much they sugar coat each other...if you're dumb enough to believe the BS...then can't help you much. But, wouldn't you think it be useful if someone pointed out the BS and alert other newbies who doesn't know that it's BS. Maybe we should just leave them to the wolves....that what the new rules may be implying...not worth posting anymore.

One good thing came out of this is that all the forum polices are no longer driving people mad with their comments...that was much more annoying and probably is more of an issue then the over bumps to me.

Another thing to keep in mind... Taking away all thread comments would undermine people's ability to learn things about some of the gear being offered here. If people could just exercise good judgement, respect, diligence and adhere to the rules as best they can. Wishful thinking with pool players, yes....lol

Addendum.....that kind of change to the Wanted/For Sale section would also drastically affect the content in the Main Forum section. All the excess 'junk threads' that don't belong here (W/FS)....i.e. threads about identifications, questions, values, etc.....or those that people would want to create just to ask questions about W/FS thread content would end up there. That has already started happening as of late, but it would increase multi-fold. Just look at the test area. It has already become riddled with threads of sellers who don't know how to post multiple pictures in their single threads and it's already started to become like a W/FS v.2

I am on another forum where bumps are not allowed. The OP can bump his thread every 24 hours only. This way your thread stays on page 1 or 2 for almost a day. Also,a price must be posted and there have to be pics. And you are not allowed to say,"Paypal as a gift".This helps b/c the buyer gets more protection,if the item is not as described or doesn't show up.No pics or price, and your thread gets taken down.I don't really care for,"PM for a price" or email me for pics or, "taking offers".No price,no pics, your thread goes bye bye.

Thats harsh! Just because a seller doesn't have a product that garners the attention of a Guz or BB doesn't mean they don't have a worth while product for sale. And searching for an item is great if you have a hot topic item, but most of what is being sold by the average guy will only get sold if someone happens to see it on the front page or 2 and gets interested. Hence many people being upset on how fast an item gets pushed to the back of the line to shill bumping.

Never mind if the product is worthwhile or not...if the price is not right...it will be passed anyhow. Bump all you want but if you want 10K for a cue...that not worth it....the thread itself will die naturally. Those that are trying to over bump their post to the first page in hope of selling their product....you have a better chance if the cues/pool product is priced to sell. Good Luck.

One of the dumbest rules I've ever heard of on any forum. Why not have a real classifieds section and bumping would be a non issue. I know Vbulletin has this option available , why not use it ?

I agree...who is to determine what is worthwhile or not? All a seller needs is the the right buyer looking for exactly that item...but it makes it much more difficult to find if it gets buried because everyone is bumping a Searing or BB or Szam thread. Remember...beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I used to make the 'nice cue' comments too....until the new rules went into effect. Mike's forum, Mike's rules. Pretty simple, really.

Also...I would love to see those sellers (trunk dealers) with multiple listings to just list them all in the one FS thread. Someone listing 5-10 cues FS in a single day can knock other single item sellers' threads back in nothing flat. Also...I would like to see people who 'skirt' the rules have ALL their threads deleted. The ones where they list separate items in individual threads...then do a mass listing thread with the same items as well, attempting to get more exposure and more bumps. Also the tactic of having two FS threads for the same item...on separate days, so that every day one of them gets a bump is BS.

Play fair....or don't play at all.
