Passing of Raist Chin aka Titlistsucker

My prayers to Raist and his family.
He's going to be missed.
I hope God has a table and a bunch of cues waiting for him.

Go in peace Raist. The pain is finally over, time to go to the big poolhall in the sky. We mourn your loss but also rejoice at the knowledge that your suffering has ended.

He's the father of custom cue collectors in Singapore, most of everything I know about custom cues was taught by him. Even in the last stages of his illness, he had the strength and determination to head for the poolhall play his favourite game.

For the guys who are living in Singapore and wishes to go to his wake, it is at block 345 Kang Ching Road. I believe he'll be there for today and tommorow at least.

I don't really know what to say. Somehow i feel glad that i am not the one to have to break the news.

Funny thing is the night before he told me that it was time to go. So even to his last moment he was a man of his words. It was a really cold night and the rain was pouring heavily outside.

Even funnier thing was the previous day he even called me on my cell phone trying to talk to me about his cues. every day i see him all we talk about is his cues and the times we spent playing the game. The last few days i could not even really make out what he was trying to say as he could barely speak. Before I left for the airport for my overseas tournament i visited him and he told me that he wish he had his health and could go with me. I wished the same. I really do. As such is the depth of his love for everything pool

But the fact is nothing really matters now. He is gone. So take a good look at the people around you that you hold dear. They maybe here now. But they may not be sooner then you imagine.

RIP Raist.

It is heartwarming to see the respect from our AZ family going out to a most deserving member.

Yes, it's good to see this - people like Raist have made this a great place to hang out, and we miss him.

This is indeed sad...

...for all of us. It is a great loss of a true friend to the sport that we all love. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time of loss.

My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to Raist's family and friends. He was a class act that will not be forgotten, rest in peace my friend.

Good solid advice, MasterClass. You were a good friend.

For you A-Z Members, MasterClass (Chris) is the young man in Singapore who told me tournament story. They were teammates. He kept me informed and helped Raist by selling his cues when Raist was too ill to do so.

I want to thank you, Chris, for keeping us aware of Raist's condition. Raist was able to exchange e-mails with me in November so at least I got to say a few words to him. He was in such pain it was hard for him even to post.

Good luck in your tournaments and keep us informed about them.

Chris

I agree. Thanks Chris and so sorry you lost such a close freind at such an early age. I think everyone agrees Raist was so very respected in our AZ community. I have had chance to talk with him over email only a few times but a gentleman he was and i never saw him say a sour word to anyone... All Az'ers take note... Jimbo gets bannned and the airways are blaring and posts galone of umpteen pages... can't we all fight nice... i mean really. We lost one of our AZ family and all we can do is banter about someone getting banned... i know i had tears in my eyes when i signed on the day after Raisted passed and read the news. Now it's all overshadowed about Jimbo.. <no ofense to Jimbo or all his freinds here on AZ but really now.... this isn't the tenth grade.>

So May the spirit and honor of Raist always live here in AZ in our hearts and souls... maybe it can teach us all something about respect and honor.. and i've only been a member for a year or so... so that's my .02

Raist was a good customer and a cue collector when there were few.

I have always enjoyed my conversations with him.

My heart goes out to his family and all who knew him.

A great loss to the cue community.

Some folks here will remember Rasist from Rec.Sport.Billiards He was a valuable contributer there as well. It is no wonder that he achieved so much and touched so many in such a short life. In a world that increasingly became about personalities rather than content Rasist's posts on RSB were always thoughtful and not inflammatory as I remember them. Godspeed Raist. Heaven is a better place with you there.

As many of you already know Raist was a stand up guy who thrived off helping others, probably more so then his enjoyment collecting cues. I once had a set of 26 1/2's and he was quick to lend me his knowledge and insight. This was a time when I was getting the run around from the bigger antique cue collector's and dealers. From that point on I would look up to him with questions and anxiously await his answers. While I'm saddened by his lost I feel much better knowing a man of his stature no longer has to struggle and suffer. God bless your soul Raist!

A little help to Raist's family...

I would like to thank Psychoblinker, Tate, TiNy and expecially MasterClass (Chris) so very much for helping me to find a good solution to my problem.

Just after Raist had passed away, these people helped me while I was in a rather difficult and painfull situation. You see, I had just finished the conversion of a Brunswick Titlist, Raist was waiting for so badly and I didn't know what to do. I just wished I had finished the cue a few days earlier...

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=44274

Finally, MasterClass got permission to have the cue being sold, and so we did. A nice amount of over $ 700 is now going to Raist's family.

I hope that this contribution will help a little to remember the class gentleman named Raist who was such a great influence in the World of cuemakers and cue collectors.

With my most sincere respects, I hope Raist will rest in peace now.
