Perfect Aim Video and Lesson Phoenix

Sucks but it will never happen again'''''''''''''''''''

Geno,

That is absolutely brutal.. I had this happen to me once in a large tournament, not on the scale of the US Open but big to me and I was certain that I wrote down the correct time the first time..

I cannot imagine putting up 6 bills to play and getting forfeited the first match, that is just wrong on so many levels.. Unfortunately, that is pool.. Best of luck to you in your future matches.. I hope you run right through em from here. Keep on pushing forward..

Peace, Joe

Hi there and thanks,

Now I have to regroup and get ready for wed at 1:00. If I exit quickly it doesn't matter. I'm going to try and make sure that doesn't happen. One way is to be there at 1:00.

There is no place here to practice that doesn't have smoking. If I play in the smoke that will finish me off physically. Q-masters looks like a scene from a war movie all hazy from the smokers. I was up in Maryland and the rooms look so clean and actually smell good.

I notice when I do go into poolrooms that have smoking in them there are no older players in there at all. I think that when we get older that we don't handle that smoke very well. If you have asma, diabetes, or anything else to deal with your body can't keep up with what it has to do to clean your body.

I'll bet that once the smoking is gone everywhere there will be alot of older players showing up.

I've buried most of the friends I grew up with in this pool world. Most were just average players but were mostly victims of cancer. The night club that I had for 11 years we just buried a bartender that worked for me, she died from lung cancer and one of my best friends Denny from cancer.
I have diabetes and the doctors say the reason I get so sick from smoke is nerve damage in the lungs from diabetes. I get very ill for about 5 days and have no energy from being in the smoke for one night. During this time I have trouble sleeping because I have trouble breathing so I keep waking up. No sleep makes it pretty tough to play pool.

I just got an idea. I need to practice. I'm going to see if there is an AZ'er here that would let me practice on their table for a couple of days in trade for the Perfect Aim lesson and video.

Thanks again Geno.

Dvd

Hi Gene

I hate to jump on the bandwagon here but I've not received my new version of the DVD yet.

I sent the old one back to your address along with a crisp $10 bill 5 weeks ago and I know you've been on the road.

And I live in the U.K.

Sending one tomorrow............

Hi there Jason,
My guy is sending one out tomorrow for you. For some reason there was 8 dvd's sent out together that just seemed to not get there. A few have been starting to get there after we had sent out another one.
I think it takes 7 to 10 days to get to the UK. Let me know when you get it.

Sorry about that. Have a great week Geno.................

the post office is much more efficient now

Geno,

Years ago the quick push of a single button routed a letter or package to the wrong place. With the new efficiencies in the post office now the push of a single button routes whole bags of mail to the wrong place.

I don't know the rate that they expect now but over twenty years ago the post office expected you to hit the proper routing button seventy times a minute, . . . yep, over once a second! The only thing that amazes me is that most of the mail gets where it is going in a timely manner. Of course a friend did send me a check from North Dakota using Priority Mail once and it took eight months to arrive!

Hope the best is still to come at the Open. Trying to find a home table is a great idea, post a new thread trying to do so if you haven't already.

Hi there,

I think your right. At least that is all we were able to figure out. Some of the orders are finally getting there. Some of them we have already sent out another video and then all of a sudden they get the first one.

It was that group of 8 that we had the trouble with. Other than that the mail has been great. Hope it doesn't happen again.

Thanks geno...............

Thanks for the positive input............

I don`t thimk Gene was saying that the video is no good, I think he meant that he originally was making it as a compliment to his personal lesson.

An since demand was high he decided to go ahead an release it fo sale to everyone, Who otherwise would not be able to attend a personal lesson so far away.

With all the great reviews I`m sure he released a good video. He came across new Ideas while giving lessons so he decided to update his dvd.

I see nothing wrong with that. The buyers are the ultimate judges, So lets just leave it to them to decide for themselves.

I know Gene, Though not personally and he never struck me as a person who would release an inferior product to dupe anyone out of cash. He always seemed to be an upstanding gentleman.

KC9ball

Hi there 9-Ball',

Thanks for the common sense comments. I should know who 9ball is. Maybe you could give me a hint.

I ran into Danny Harriman here at the US Open. I showed him Perfect Aim before I put a name on it in Kansas City sbout 2 years ago. At that time he didn't give it much thought but he said he has been playing around with what I showed him and he told me he thinks Perfect Aim is the way to go.

He got a video from me because he wants to show a friend back home the whole lesson. Danny became a good friend of mine while I was living there for about 8 years. He's a great person and a pretty nice guy. Good role model for pool. And he don't play too bad either.

He's giving me one of his straight pool videos where he ran over 200 balls. I want to watch that.

Say hi to all the guys in Kansas City for me. My second HOME away from home. Alot of nice players and people there.

Have a great day Geno................

Congrats on your 11-3 win today Geno.. Just saw it on AZ.. Now win a bunch more for the rest of us dreamers.. Good luck!

Big thank you...............

Hi there MOJOE,

As you know this was my first match that I got to play in. I had the jitters for about 4 games but settled down after that.

This is a great tournament, everything you could imagine. Just need to keep my focus and things will be OK.

Thanks again Geno..................

Go get em

Congrats Gene. Keeping tabs on ya. Go out there and enjoy the moments. That is what it is all about in the end. Call me when you get back to the cold midwest, and share some stories. Take care, and make every day a memorable one for all of us back home, including the ones that are watching over us every day(God bless Denny). Take care Gene, and thanks for doing a thankless job promoting the game of pool to all of us locals back home. We are cheering ya on. GO GENO.

Hi there Scott,
Tell the boys and girls back home that I won my 11:00 match 11-7. He was from Kiwait I think. he played pretty good. I guess from here on out they all play pretty good.

This is a dream I've waited for, for 10 years.

And it was just the opposite. What a great group of players we have back home. I was fortuanate enough to have 11 years with Geno's Saloon to have players like yourself come there. I couldn't imagine how it could have been any better. I was the lucky one.

I wish someday I could open another pool room. WOW !

Thanks Again. 2:30 AM 1:00 PM will come quickly. Geno..............

I'm playing OK

Geno I'm watchin you brother...keep up the streak, your next match is tough!

Hi there Mike,

He's going to have to play good if he wants to stay in the tournament. I don't know anyone so I'm kind of fearless.
In fact I think I kind of shock some of these players because they think I'm going to miss. I think they take me too lightly but I'm a grinder.

That's why we play. To see who can beat who. You never knowwwwwwwww.

Thanks Mike and say hi to all the guys at the room.....Geno.........

I play Shawn Putnam next at 8:00........

Hi there Scott,

Won my 11:00 match Hill-Hill. I was ahaed 9-7 but I dogged it 3 times to put him on the hill.
As you see I'm still playin so the dog went home. It's a good thing that happened in a way because the only time you can practice with this kind of pressure is when you are there. And down 10-9 it don't get any tougher than that.

Talk to you later Geno................

It's over for me............

Keep on truckin!

Hi there,
I got in a little squabble with Shawn Putnam. We were racking the balls about 1/4 below the center of the spot. He was drilling the wing ball right in the corner everytime. I move the rack up about 1/2 inch. now the balls were racked about 1/4 inch above the middle of the spot.
Shawn rattled the ball in the corner pocket. He said that's the last time you reck me high. I really didn't think that was high because the cue ball was only 1/4 above the center of the spot. It's a standard spot on the table about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
So he called over the MC. not Scott Smith but the other guy. Shaun Complained to him and he told me to move the rack down where Shaun wanted it. I never heard of this anywhere. They were on the spot.

Needless to say rather than buckle down I put in about a half effort for about 7 racks. Whinning and crying to myself.

This is one thing that pool players need to do is buckle down regardless of what happens. I needed to get over it real quick and get back to business. I could have beaten this guy if I would have kept it together.

Anyway, next year I guess. Back to giving lessons Thanks for your support and anyone else that reads this. I feel like I let alot of people down that were pulling for me.

See ya later and thanks Geno..............

the mental game

Geno,

The only one you let down was yourself. I wouldn't have continued to rack the balls a quarter inch low TD or not, I'd have asked for the other TD. If a quarter inch high was cause for whining so was a quarter inch low, I'd have racked square on the center of the spot and demanded a new spot or it was their problem about the one ball. This happens often enough that I am going to start keeping new spots in my case though.

What you can't let all this crap do is throw you off stride but you know that already. No embarrassment losing to Shawn but you have to be annoyed to give him the match because he got in your head.

Done deal for this event this year. All you can do is learn from it for the next event and next year. Might see what BlackJack right here on this forum has to offer. I think his specialty is the mental game if I remember correctly.

Hi there,
Another thing that kind of gets me at these tournaments is you never seem to play when your supposed to. Almost every match was at least an hour late.
The one with Shawn was sceduled for 8:00. They were doing the hall of fame induction and I guess that held things up, I don't know why and we were waiting for some cute little girl to sing God bless america. Shaun and myself were trading hitting racks to warm up. Pretty soon it's 9:00. Up until then I was making everything. From 9:00 to 9:30 I was struggling to run out. My blood suger was getting low. I'm afraid to eat anything because I don't want it too high. That's just as bad for a diabetic.

When it gets to low you just lose all your fight. I'll get it figured out if I got to bring my fridge with me and maybe there is no figuring it out. Towards the end of a tournament is when it gets really tough. You just keep playing and playing and playing. Hard enough with someone that is healthy but any autoimmune disease takes alot out of you.

I'm going to try and get on a workout schedule. It's hard on the road but maybe I need to go back to wisconsin and work out for about a month.

When I played on the road in the late 70's and 80's I would travel for about 2 months. Build up a bankroll and then come home and workout like a madman for about a month. Party a little or alot and spend some time with the family or girlfriend or wife depending on what I had at the time. After being on the road for 2 months I was pretty used to the fact that wife or girlfriend was liable to change very quickly. One situation where the heart does not grow fonder with absence. Life of a pool player. I always gained about 15 pounds in the 2 months on the road.
The only way I could do it now is if I quit playing and just did the lessons when I go to towns. I love to play but I need to be healthy enough to compete.

I've tried to work out some here and there but I'm usually to tired to do anything else that day. Sometimes the next day isn't so hot either.

Bottom line is I need to be stronger. I have no endurance. I'm going to have to figure out what it takes and get it done.

Thanks Again Geno................
