How is the price of Go Go juice effecting your Pool Playing, in the Valley Yesterday Regular Go Go was $3.29.9/Gal. and rising. I am not happy as I have to go to Cali NEXT WEEK END and hear it islike $3.75.9/Gal.

Planning all my trips carefully, to save on Go Go Juice.:mad:
 
Sure, but they are few and far between. I wish there were more tourneys to go to. I guess gas prices could be keeping me from looking around.

We have no shortage of Tourny's in the Valley, and would guess there are 45-50/week for different skill levels, as we have a Rating/Handicap System.

Today in the State there are 1-$1,000.00 adds (Tucson), and 3 $500.00 adds (Phoenix).:D

You are going to pay about fifty cents a gallon more worst case. I just came home from a bit over a 4000 mile road trip. I probably averaged paying about fifteen cents a gallon more than I do at home, largely because I know where the best prices are at home. Too, I spent a lot of time at high altitudes and that gas is a different mix and always higher.

The perception is worse than the reality. Most of us get around twenty miles to the gallon so even a dollar a gallon increase is a nickel a mile. Most of us are also splitting expenses at least two ways so we can half that. The perception of high gas prices may be keeping us home. If the cost of gas is keeping us home we need to sell our pool cues and go flip burgers somewhere.

Food and motel bills are far bigger bites than the fuel increase. Package a little food or bring some snacks for the road and skip a meal or two at a restaurant or fast food joint. You will make up for the extra gas cost in a hurry. The cooler full of soda waters and cheap bottled water I took with me probably saved me more than the extra I spent on gas on my trip.

I try not to get pissed, but whats so different about getting fuel to the pump from this time last year when it was $3.00? our great "in the oil biz" leader is pumping up his family and friends before he hits the unemployment line right?


no, fuel prices don't change the amount of pool I play.

Gerry you are doomed to disappointment when Bush leaves office. Two things alone will account for almost all of the increase in price of diesel in the last year. First most people are selling low sulphur diesel exclusively now and that ups the price 50-75 cents a gallon best I recall. The other thing is the price of crude. Some of the price increase is indeed bull but much of it is real and unfortunately with the change in global realities the US is no longer in position to exercise the influence it once did.

For a lot of reasons, none to do with Bush, the US is no longer the world's foremost in anything but military might and some would debate that. Regardless, we can't dictate terms to anyone with the same clout we did even twenty years ago and we probably won't ever be able to again in our lifetimes.

I think if two guys were to go on a road trip together they would have to plan it carefully. Also if I was to go and play at Alexanders all the time (1hour drive) then I would see the difference but right now I am only going to Kolbys and thats only about once a week.

You're very lucky. We don't have many tournaments in my area, mostly APA handicap and that doesn't interest me.

Sacramento ca. $3.75+ basic unleaded and $4.14+ for diesel. So much for playing for fun now. Good news all the tourney are less then 20 minutes from me.
 
To me the price of gas is all relevant. When I was working for $1.10 and hour gas was anywhere from 27 to 35 cents a gallon. My car only got 12 miles per gallon and it was a 6 cylinder 1954 Chevy. The last year I worked I was earning $36 per hour and I owned a car that got over 20 mpg. So for me gas is a bargain.

Back then I could only afford to put a few dollars at a time an could never fill up. Things are tough but considering what kind of cars people choose to drive in relation to what they make I don't see a problem. Trucks back in the 60's when gas was "cheap" got about 8 mpg. Now everyone drives one and complains because they are gas hogs. The are getting about double the gas milage and most people don't really need one.

If you look realistically at the cost of gas to other things it is a bargain.

People always talk about getting a car to run on water. Could you imagine what the price of water would be if this was ever true? Some dumb a$$ people are paying as much as $1.00 for a 12 oz bottle of that stuff. That amounts to $10.66 a gallon that is almost free out of the tap.


The answer for me is NO!

Well sad thing is the Price of Gas always seems goes up in the Summer Months when famalies want to go on vacation.
 
My boat gets a gallon a mile, and it's costs 500 bucks to fill it up. That adds up to more pool, and a little less boating.
 
Here is the Trillion Dollar Question, the U.S. government has spent over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS in Iraq in the last few years, and the Arab State are SCREWING us on the Price of Crude Oil.

If the US was not in Iraq Sadum Hussin would still be in power, and trying to make every Arab State/Country part of Iraq.

P.S. I bet I speled Sadum Hussin incorrectly.

There are a lot of figures on how much the war cost the U. S. and how this money was spent in Iraq.

Are these figures really true? What is the cost of supporting the armed forces during peace time? Does it cost that more if they are marching or fighting? Sure there are cost of sending them over seas but for the most part all the money that is spent for support also creates jobs here in manufacturing, research and development that would not have been if not for that conflict. It adds to our economy and not theirs. Also look at the employment of the contractors that are working there. Just think on how much higher our unemployment rate would be in they weren't over there.

Yes it is sad that many U S lives are lost but there are also many lives lost during maneuvers in peace time. Also we have to stop the terrorists. What we really need to do is get tougher here in the U. S. and stop letting all of the terrorists hide behind the constitution claiming their rights.

Its effecting pool in my area.Last year we had 12 teams in the bca nationals in Vegas this year only 6 are going.
 
My main hall is right on the way from my 32 mile drive home from work, so going there probably costs me about 3 bucks more per week in gas if I make my normal 4 or 5 trips.
