Possible New World Record

In this format all the balls had to be pocketed to complete the rack.

If the 9 ball was made on the break or an early 9 ball combo was made, he had to continue and pocket the remaining balls in rotation.

18 in a row vs. the ghost should be possible to get on the tape for the pros. Not too long ago there was a stream of scott frost doing 10b vs. the ghost, I think he didn't get out only like twice in 20 racks. Maybe this would be a fun project for john schmidt, instead of videotaping his next 250+ straight pool run?

He was red-repped BEFORE this thread. I posted the first response to his original post and he was already red before this thread took off.

That said, I have no idea what he did to deserve the red rep hammer before he started this thread. I haven't looked his other posts up.

Randy, could you ask him to elaborate on that i little? In his bio at Eurotour/EuroChamps site he provided the following:

(just for the reference, here are the numbers by Ralf Souquet:

I'll text him now. He's in china, if not on a plane. We've talked about his 8 & 9 ball runs at length, on more than one occassion, but I still can't remember the exact numbers. I don't know why the euro tour has the info it does, but these happenedd even before he moved to the states. I also believe he spoke about it during his AZ chat a few years ago, I could be wrong.

3 months ago my buddy had me play the 10ball ghost races to 8 for 25.

i won 49 -9 and ran 16 in a row at one point.
it was on a diamond on video.

I'm not knocking what the guy did at all and I'm certainly not going to "go off" about it. I'm just saying in the grand scheme of impressive things I've seen or heard about it in the pool world this just doesn't stack up.

I once remarked to Stoney that he had played better at a slow speed than ANYONE I have ever seen. When he gears down he seldom EVER misses a ball. I saw him play at Fort Walton Beach Florida a year or to ago and it was just uncanny how perfectly he hit every ball at that slow speed.

Was he playing really slow when he ran the EIGHTEEN racks of nine ball?

Just curious.. I've tried playing really slow and I'm getting better at it but nothing like Stoney. (And before you ask for weight again Roy, I have to beat you at least once really good before I do something as stupid as that.) :D

Earl gives Sammy the seven, Sammy can get staked. Sammy is a slight favorite over BJ Ussery for the big cash, and ask Earl how he like giving BJ the seven. At one point, BJ told Earl to "sit down and take it like a man."

By the way, Sammy lives in Greenville. I don't think Earl would drive three hours to offer ANY game. Phone call to Allan (Sammy's stakehorse), maybe.

Seriously, I think people may pay to see that. 16 in 10ball is prolly harder than 18 in 9ball.

You are the only one that called it 'child's play'. 18 in a row w/ BIH is impressive, but as others have stated we feel many of the pros could better that, given the same conditions.

Also, as said, well done, Stoney Stoner!
 
About 20-25 yrs. ago, I remember reading a article in Billiard Digest about Efren playing in a small tourney in, I believe, Ohio. The format was a race to 7. Efren beat 4 players in a row, 7-0, having run 28 racks in a row.

I was surprised it didn't make more of a stir back then. I guess it wasn't considered a record since it wasn't against a single opponent. It might have been in the "Thrilla' from Manila" article.

I do remember one fact from the "Thrilla" article, though. While BD was interviewing Efren for the article, he ran three consecutive racks of full rack rotation.

Considering I've run out in full rack rotation one time in my life, I find that fact pretty spooky.
