Yeah, this is certainly not good for the WPBA, one of the worst moves they could have made not letting John do his thing. Pool players running things does not work well most of the time, John is an accomplished businessman who could have made the WPBA better then ever IMO. What is the over and under on when the WPBA is over and out?![]()

From what I have heard, you are in the minority with this opinion.
I don't have an opinion one way or the other, but a close friend of mine who is on the WPBA did a little dance when she heard the news.
Sorry but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, you have to change with the times and the WPBA has not. I think some people in the WPBA wanted John gone for personal interest like ties to companies but what do I know anyway. The WPBA was in trouble before John and should have let him do his thing, now we will see where they end up. I do hope they find a way out of the mess they are in but it looks bad, the reality is they might be dancing with themselves.
Damn, wrong president...![]()
Got me too.

But the WPBA has high dollar sponsors because of television. Streaming reaches a MUCH smaller audience than ESPN does. And advertisers are paying to get their product in front of hundreds of thousands of eyes instead of thousands.
Of course, the question does come up of whether they would need those same high dollar sponsors without the television production costs.

Yeah, I was hoping we could get George Bush back. Or, no, Sarah Palin! How awesome would that be?

Put that pipe down Ted.Yeah, I was hoping we could get George Bush back. Or, no, Sarah Palin! How awesome would that be?
I will chime in on this part of the thread.
Costs for the players will never go down....we still need to fly, book hotels and rental cars....so smaller prize funds would seriously affect us. So...we would need the sponsorship dollars still. The casino $$ and the TV production expense would be a wash...but to keep the prize funds high enough to draw the top players...we would still need sponsor $$. Which we probably would not get without ESPN.
