Anyone know of one American pro player or more that has good health benefits either paid by his/her sponsor or themselves? I don't care how young and healthy you are stuff happens to put you in the hospital for an extended stay. Even if your one of the few that that make over 50k a year, a one week hospital stay can eat 50k up in one gulp. It's like playing Russian roulette with know benny's and money in the bank. Johnnyt

I see more than a few medical bills and had my paws on a bill for $275k yesterday...after 'uninsured discount'.

I wrote 'return to sender' on it. Know what I mean, Ben?!;)

I have had consistent health care coverage most of my life - either paid for by myself (individual PPO) or through an employee benefits program. In fact, at one time, I ran dual coverage.

There is no reason a Pro Player could not have the same except for the choices they make with their, though meager, income.

really...! their no different then any one else in this country..thousands pay for their own health insurance..okay..okay..I'll say their sponsor should foot the their insurance
bill..an I think JP an Joss should foot mine..I use their equipment an encourage others to as well..I should get something in return right..or..or Valley an Diamond should give me some kind of kick back for all the coins I've put in their tables..
What about some kind of tax break for all the money I"ve spent at the pool hall over the years..never once has a Pool hall or Bar owner said hey heres a couple hundred for bring your business here..thanks.Maybe this year I'll get a free turkey for Thanksgiving..or a Christmas card with a free drink an meal coupon in it..
But your right right those players should have health insurance..problems happend with age..the body brakes down..an you waste a way..hopefully you have friends to share these few years of time left with..thats what great about life..the people we choose to share it with..be it good or bad..you have a good day an hope your back is still feeling better.

health coverage is one of the biggest rips in the world. I pay over $600/month for family coverage and it sucks. My little boy is about to have surgery and I get to come out of pocket for $4000 up front since it's not an emergency procedure and we haven't met our yearly deductible.

Add to that the fact that the uninsured still get medical coverage even though they have no means to pay and won't pay and I'm baffled.

What is the benefit to even having coverage if every clown on the street still gets it without paying?

They almost had to restrain me when my daughter was being born a few years back and we had to pay for 10% of the $15,000 bill and got the same room/services as the 6 Mexican families that were filling out the paperwork for uninsured patients. We even had to wait in line behind them for godsake. I'm paying $1500 out of pocket and these people get to fill out a few forms and pay $40/month for a few months and get the rest written off? How fu#$%$ing fair is that?

(not singling out Mexicans, just that there are a lot of them in Gainesville, GA and they reproduce with no consequence and let the taxpayers pay for all of their children)

I think that if you are going to give medical coverage to anyone regardless of whether they actually pay for it or not, then they should come up with some kind of system where the best doctors or those that graduated around the top or their class or came from better medical schools are reserved for those that have health insurance.

The uninsured folks get the ones that barely graduated or that went to Scrub State, imo.

Don't want to get political but under Obamacare they'll have to get insurance or pay a fine when that rule goes into effect in a year or two.

I hear what your saying.

I predict that Obamacare will have a few speed bumps before it gets finalized.

When I was fully self-employed, I could not afford my CareFirst/BlueShield PPO 90/10 anymore, as they raised their premiums every February. When it hit $850 a month for just me, I decided to get an HSA PPO with an high deductable. Even that was $280 a month with a high deductable, but they gave you a free physical per year that didn't come out of the high deductable expense. There is a $3 million lifetime cap.

Young pool players could get an HSA HMO with a high deductible for maybe $100 a month, which ain't bad. Men get cheaper rates than women. It is good to have in case anything major happens.

I agree completely. I know some of the medical card people that have never paid shit. Don't work, and don't have to pay bills. Pretty sweet little setup there. Not to mention a good portion of them are faking injuries and selling scripts of pain pills they didn't even pay for at a gigantic profit. One thing i've noticed about that crowd in particular. Nearly all of them end up as hypercondriacs and spend their days telling everyone "how bad I hurt". "poor unfortunate me,I deserve more"

But you still wouldn't trade places with them because in order to qualify for the free care you saw they must have no assets to attach. So after the high cost of all the insurances, Deductibles, taxes, fees etc we Americans who are willing to work hard and smart can still enjoy one of the best standards of living for the rank and file citizens of any country in the history of the world.

Having said that, those bastards piss me off too! Can't feed em, don't breed em!

It has been reported that Earl Strickland is actually 97

Pro Pool Players are superhuman and don't need to waste money on the AMA.......they thrive on chelation, oxidation, ozone, and cell therapy. It has been reported that Earl Strickland is actually 97 with Johnny Archer closely behind at a ripe age of 89. There have been rumors that they may be vampire, but this is ridiculous, they obviously have to play day time matches.

In one investigation it was reported that some of the pro players have injected the immune system of a shark which is vasty superior to the human. This enables their body to reject anything that even resembles a disease and also gives them tremendous swimming abilities. Jose Parica has been doing this treatment since the early 1900's.

Occasionally a Pro Player will "pretend" to be sick, but sources say that is to throw off any suspicion that they are indeed, not human.

This information is classified TOP SECRET and for your eyes only.

I agree about insurance companies. They are scum sucking parasites. So, you might say, that's what the health care bill was about, but Obama and Company just made it worse. These companies are supposed to be regulated, but it seems they operate with impunity, charging high rates and paying out like very little. Owning an insurance company is a license to steal. They suck bigtime.

Our medical system in the US sucks as a whole, regardless if you make a living playing pool.
As an example, you can work 20 years have the best insurance in the world for 20 years, lose your job and way of paying your own insurance (if you are one not having saved a lot or had the ability too), have heart complications or something the next day and be in debt 500K in a week.

When insurance companies started they were big gamblers. Over the years they have matched up better and better until it has become a hustle. Johnnyt

you also have many years of life to not blow all your money and save some and pay for insurance. thats a personal choice that many make.
when you hit 65 you can get medicare.

No matter what you do the rich will always get the best healthcare in the world. The poor will get a free ride, and the middle class will pay for most of it. Johnnyt
