Pool playing celebrity Peter Falk died last night at age 83.

His role of Columbo was no doubt an all time classic, and he was a friend of the game.

I LOVE watching Columbo!! I bet he's saying to St Peter right now, "uh, sir, just one more thing..." He'll be missed. :sorry:

He has had Alzheimer for the last few years. I read they would put on his TV show and he had no idea it was him. I also read they have been fighting over his money so now they can pick over the bones I guess. He could play pool a bit also.

He had a tv show in the early to mid 60's, I can't remember the name of the show but each episode usually began with Falk playing pool, and not just banging balls around either.

Peter and Pancho!

During the mid to late 60's he used to hang out at Guys n Dolls in NYC. One day I walked in and asked, "Peter, how you hittin em?", he promptly replied in his gruff voice, "I can't make a ball, He's got me in mortal shock".
He wa playing Vince "Pancho" Corelli straight pool, Pancho always played him 50 pt. games, 50 no count to his 50!
I don't think Peter ever won a game, but what a character!

I remember an episode of Columbo where one of his "marks" had an a turn of the century Bruniswick table in his mansion. He made several nice shots while politely asking questions of the killer.

Oh just one more thing... Loved that show and the man. R.I.P

I always liked Columbo. Unkempt appearance with a ruffled trench coat and a stub of a cigar in hand. "Oh, by the way, just one more thing". Then he'd seriously dick the suspect up with the one last question.

Don't forget the roughed up car he drove (a Peugot if I remember right). It was rumored that it was his personal car. Don't know if it was true.

Peter also played in one of the big Reno events - One-Pocket, I'm sure.

i have seen all the episodes in the past 6-8 months, in 2-3 of them I saw him hit some balls, he knew how to play, At what level I dont know, he was at the very least a solid C player, he had good fundamentals from the scenes I saw, he was also blind in one eye, childhood accident so he had a glass eye. His house is on the 1000 N block of Roxbury in Bev Hills 2 houses away form Lucy Ball(I recently bought a car Lucy owned). thats all I know, he was one hell of a actor and a genuinely nice person, I wish I could have met him and played him.

Hey Ernie ring me sometime, I'm in LA-i'm not happy here. But it's better than Vegas. I will be happy I just need to make a few things happen, I'll explane.

Best Eric

and RIP to GREAT actor who was a player, there are few. Joe Rogan, Keifer Sutherland, the rock star guy i cant remember his name from great white???

Great actor, played the part of Columbo perfect.
And as Del Boy Trotter always said " Columbo, the man that discovered America"

Peter used to attend the World Championships that Fred Whalen put on in the 70's in L.A. He was on friendly terms with many of the top players of that era. He also frequented Ye Billiard Den in Hollywood from time to time. I remember watching him bang them around with Jack Ackerman (Judy Garland's composer/arranger) and also John "The Dancer" Brescia (he co-produced The Baltimore Bullet). Peter liked to play 14.1 and was capable of running a rack or two.
