Glen showed up at Buffalo Billiards and tuned up the two 9 foot Diamond tables that everyone likes to gamble on and even recovered one of them.

They both play really well. There's going to be a waiting list to play on these two tables.

Glen is a man-google when it come to pool tables. He took the time to school one of our local guys as to the proper way to level tables and I could see that our guy "Painter" was soaking it up.

If you have a chance to have Glen work on your pool table you won't be sorry.

Thanks Glen!

Send Glen over to the Pocket to straighten out that misbegotten assortment of crap that Jamie has. Glen will either give up in despair or be talking cajun and sucking crawfish heads by the time he is done there!

Hu

Serious thought, you might connect him with Mike Black. Those old Diamonds at Bayou could use some TLC.

Don't show him my secret aiming system. :p
Lookout when Glen Diamondnizes those corner pockets.
You better aim at the center all the time.

really, i am not trying to follow "all" of your threads! but here is another one i have something to add...

imho, Glen is one 'truly remarkable' guy that i have had the privilege to meet thru azb. i know that he has those that adore him here and some that do not care for him at all. to me he is the Michelangelo of pool tables. i know that sounds pretty strong, but you can not imagine what he did to my pos home-'B' table and my table was so bad from the manufacturer - unbelievable really.

long story short, the "B' company president, sean cummings was willing to send me a new table based on Glen's assessment. i refused, but as Glen said, that they had to send me new slate as the slate that came with my table were all so far off that there were just junk.

and he also closed my pockets from buckets to 4.5" and 5" sides. the table is Great now. and like Painter, and being a little handy myself i was amazed at his abilities.

I've never ran into a pool table that I can't fix up to play right, though I have turned down working on a few that just wasn't worth the investment;)

don't doubt you could fix them

Glen,

I don't doubt you could fix them but you'll add some gray to your head before you do if you take on that whole room, for more reasons than one!

Hey Joey, Keep us up to date on this phenomenon, Ive never heard of a pool hall owner wanting to have great tables in his place. Maybe it will catch on, LOL!!!

I have to agree with your description of Glen as the Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni of pool tables is pretty much spot on. I'm not sure if anyone knows that Michelangelo's last name was SIMONI. It kind of makes you wonder if that's where the Simonis family came from. That Simonis cloth is something special, especially when Glen stretches it and installs it the way that the Simonis DVD suggest it be installed (which Glen had much to do with).

Glen shared some very important knowledge with me about a special grade of Simonis cloth that I will be sharing with the owner of Buffalo Billiards in hopes of trying it out.

Hope springs eternal.

You are a class act Glen. May you continue to have success wherever you go. You actually have the perfect attitude for any successful enterprise. You love what you do. You enjoy doing things perfectly. You are never satisfied with the status quo. You are willing to do whatever it takes to make it right.

I want to play on one of those TWO POCKET COMBINATION BILLIARD TABLE and one pocket tables with the interchangeable rails. That sounds like an awesome table. Last night I kept dreaming that I was effortlessly shooting that 4 rail shot and making it every time. :D:D

The last time I was in the corner Jamie didn't even have a Diamond unless I am badly mistaken. Doesn't look like he picked that one up new! :D Stroll around and look at some of his other tables, that Diamond and the GC4 are the crown jewels in there assuming he still has the four.

Bayou Billiards in Baton Rouge has the oldest Diamond tables I know of, I think a room full of them. I liked playing on them, old and slow like me. One of them had every rail falling off loose though, can you say g-a-f-f ?

Once I finish this Diamond at the Corner Pocket, there won't be a better playing one pocket table in this state, you can BET on that. Corner pockets are going to be at 4 1/8" and sides at 4 3/4" once I'm finished.

Stray thought, reading (and enjoying) this thread...

Glen, have you ever thought about making a directory of places whose tables you've fixed, to make it easy for someone to find an RKC-ized table?

In all your spare time, of course :p

If you're talking about work I've done in pool rooms, that's easy...as I've only done work in 3 pool rooms in the last 15 or so years fixing/recovering pool tables. 8 GC1 9fts at Malarkey's Pool & Brew in Tacoma, WA. and 2 Diamond 9ft ProAm's in Buffalo's Billiards and 1 Diamond 9ft Professional at the Corner Pocket Billiards down here near New Orleans, LA. the rest of the tables I've worked on are all in private homes:D
