Real Pool Reality Show crowdfunding

If you are not interested in supporting the show or the people in it, can you please stop posting in this thread. Find something you do believe in and focus on that.

I'm interested in supporting some of the people in it. Some of them have my full emotional support. And one thing I believe in is being vocal about why various ideas are bad, including yours, so right now I'm focusing on it, like you asked.

Wait a minute. If you show some support that must mean you are involved or a lover, right ? :)

You are not providing any type of support by trying to damage their positive view about a project they are working on. You have already expressed your point of view. We are always thinking of new ideas to add to the project. That is another reason why I don't think it makes any sense for you to just hate on the project. We are on here looking for more ideas and supporters. I think this conversation would be more productive without you in it. Why don't you take a break from this discussion and join back in a few days.

I hope that in time we can help you past some of your negative feelings. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by what we put together with the help of 16 great pool players.

Please find something better to do with your life, or find another cause. Your support is not needed here.

Why don't YOU do THIS:

Explain in full detail exactly WHAT this project is and exactly HOW it will be different than any of the other Jim Murnak shows, pool-based reality shows, etc. that we've seen already.

To date, I STILL don't think I've seen ANYTHING to that effect except "The pool will be real" and "we'll add to the prize money by selling streams of the matches". If there's more to it, we'd all LOVE to hear it. But so far, all we've heard is "Haters!" and "Chicken!"

How would money from the masses support pool? Other then putting money in your pocket and a handpicked group of players that most of us have only heard of a few? Wouldn't it be better to support a event that more player can play in or one with all pros?

$635USD raised in 11 days
3% funded
4 days left

16 backers and a total of $635 ... not much money and not the masses.

On the flip side, that's 80% of $635 divided 10 ways, or a little over $50 each. Hope they all have jobs to cover their gas money getting to and from the shoot.

Woah, look... if you don't want to just blindly give these people money (with really nothing in return) to make a mediocre looking "reality show" that nearly nobody will see, then you're a hater and you need to find something better to do with your day.

Sorry Robert, not trying to damage anyones view on the project. I'm not trying to stop people from donating, I'm not trying to stop them from wanting to see it. If people want to watch, that's cool... watch. If you want to make the show, that's cool... make it. I could care less if you make the show or if people fund it, I'm just over here in reality letting YOU know that while you're trying to do something good for players, you're really only wasting their time. I find it hard to believe any of them will make enough to be worth the time they're putting into it. If you want to call me a hater, knock yourself out, but I'm just being honest and real with you.

I have been keeping up with this a little and I am sure I have missed something. However talking from experience and I am sure that JCIN can back me up on this. The money just is not there to keep production, players etc happy. I have done a number of PPV events and the money it costs to make ONLY TWO TOP pros (Like world famous, hall of famers) and myself happy as far as the money goes. it ain't easy and comes with many potential problems. Just think how much hotel rooms alone will cost. I missed how many players but lets go with 5 players and one camera guy. Get a hotel at $75 per night, If everyone is willing to share a room with someone that's $75 x 3 = $225. ok don't sound like much but probably there 2-3 days so about $675. Still not a lot of money in some people's eyes but sometimes depending where you are you have to pay for bandwidth. The players prize fund. Oh and we havn't eaten yet. Now how did we get here to the location of the match?? or is it all in NYC? I have done this and had to get sponsors to cover the prize fund. Even then, with the talent I had playing the money was just enough. So I think I was a little low on my numbers but it still goes to show you how much $$ is still involved. If we think the idea is great with star power makes no difference what you think of the show or concept to be honest if you are going to look at this as a $$ making proposition in order to pay players and cover expenses I don't see it happening. I would love for it to be a winner though.

80% of the the presales goes to the players?
OR 80% goes to the winning team, and balance 20% goes to the losers?
AND why are the players getting 80%-100%? (i'm assuming that's NET $, cause otherwise you'd have to fund costs o-o-p.)

when the players use their FaceBook resources to hit prospects & sell,
and all proceeds of said, go to the players,
is it paid prorata?

So if one player works hard to sell more videos he doesn't make more then anyone else?

Not really sure where you are going with this. I think this is something others should judge for themselves. I did a lot of these to help the players.. I hope it helped them. I also got the only interview with Ginky.

First of all who uses Yahoo to search? Is that even still a thing? Also the two interviews at the top of that search are literally the first two I ever shot in the summer of 2007. The first weekend I ever touched a pro video camera and microphone. I'm still proud of them because Nasty with Buddy and Billy is classic but technically they are not good. As you would expect for a first effort at anything. What did your first piece of leatherwork look like?

An example of something more recent is the ten questions series I did for CSI: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdCfnbGD70QV8Hv7TyUs-eNaAWdNXmhX5

I said in this thread that you have done some quality work on video. Instead of messing with me why don't you just handle your business? I'm not the one here asking for money. I was pretty neutral through most of this thread till you started acting like a tween girl with her feelings hurt.

Best thing you can do Jim is leave me out of this and continue begging for money to fund your second attempt at a lame idea.

Yes, that's my understanding from Jim Murnak.

Disclaimer, I'm Henry Chan and I've agreed to help Jim out on this project. To keep production costs low as possible, I'm waiving my time on this, just reimbursement on material costs incurred.
