I agree Dave, I was thinking 4th grade though!! LOL.

Actually I believe anyone that gets banned should go back to "Zero" on reputation. Maybe even have to start back with 1 red. But to be banned and then come back with full boat greenies..............doesn't make sense. :scratchhead:

By the way, Eddie's own slideshow on myspace (still) clearly says it's an 8-point ebony cue. So for him to imply that Charlie made that claim and he just didn't happen to correct it is, like everything else Eddie has ever said, absurd.

MySpace misquoted him?

And yet, you and many others are slinging green rep around to any and all other posters you can, simply to do the internet version of TP-ing Wheat's house.

In other words, you're doing your part to marginalize the very system you're claiming to support.

Brilliant!

Quantitatively, the rep system is pretty much meaningless anyway. It's not a popularity contest, nor is it set up right to be a highly accurate gauge of reputation or value of posters anyway. Who cares about the rep rankings, other than as something silly to have fun with? The rep system is not going to change unless you abolish it, have V-Bulletin change how it works, or maybe reset everyone's rep so that people can't go from new member to full green in one post like they can now.

To me, the good thing about about rep is just the virtual pat on the back part of it. The fact that I can tell someone I liked their post without having to send a PM or waste a post on it. Or, conversely, receiving a such a note is nice too.

That and being able to give red in the rare cases where a member has made a serious violation against the AZ community. In Mr. Wheat's case, you may look at it as mob mentality, but we're all capable of thinking for ourselves, and I think most of us have tried to follow the story and be fair about it. So we have to spread some green reps around in order to give out the red that we feel EW deserves. What can you do? Not a big deal, IMO.

I haven't seen you arguing anything about the actual transaction. (I apologize if I missed it in this long thread or one of the many other ones). If you disagree that Mr. Wheat's handling of the transaction for the last 7 months has been unacceptable, please start making some points along those lines. But please don't tell us not to red rep him without some telling us why it is not justified. It's not like TP-ing his house at all; that is not an accurate analogy, IMO.

All it is is letting his feedback reflect what AZ members have spent days worth of "man hours" "researching" into his recent business practices. The rep rating is not permanent, and the time and effort that he would have to spend rebuilding his rep would be time well spent for him. He could do it pretty quickly by satisfying some customers, once the customers report back on here. If he "shapes up" and starts "doing the right thing", people will notice it and good rep him for it. If not, well, that's up to him too.

I think you should at least give some credit to the posters in this thread; This thread has been pretty tame as far as ad-homonym attacks against Eddie. Often these threads are on the verge of being locked by this time. As long as we avoid personal cheap shots and ad-homonym attacks, I think this "red rep campaign" here is perfectly justified.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but to turn it around, I think that if you're going to say that people are acting like middle schoolers, then you owe it to us to explain why Mr. Wheat's "feedback meter" would not be accurate if it were pinned at a significantly red setting for now. It is obvious to me why TP-ing his house wouldn't be appropriate, but it is not obvious to me why his rep shouldn't be red. Just my humble opinion. If you made it through this whole post, I thank you. :)

Damn, can I buy a new rep gun with my vcash? This one is way too slow to reload.

Been giving Green to those giving Red to Ed. Having to spread the rep around befoe I can give Ed more Red.

I'd like to see Ed have the highest red rep count on the forum.

RED for ED

Keep voicing your opinion.

POW! My 3rd one to the schnoz. Now he's down to 9 squares, oh he has so "much to be proud of" eh? Down to page 26 of your program people.

It's late, but never too late to repent/rebuild Eddie.

<passes the baton and reaches for the popcorn, 'cause by the time I reload, it's already gonna be total red-a$$ for Ed>

Yep, I earned my first ever red rep for asking for a price on this cue. I didn't read the entire thread but I saw some guy named Charlie who I don't know had a cue he was unhappy with for several reasons, one being that it was too long. I have long arms and wouldn't mind trying a longer cue so I asked about the cue. Charlie said he was going to keep it and have the shafts shortened.

Fair enough, but then he changed his mind and said he was returning it to the seller named Eddie, who I don't know either. So I asked Eddie to send me a PM and let me know about a price. It's probably more than I can afford anyway but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.

So some guy named Jim, who I also don't know, sends me a little red box and a nastygram for "trying to help out EW".

When I go to the gas station I've never thought of it as helping out the oil company, just buying something I need.

Strange stuff.

But since it concerns EW, I thought it was OK to ask. Is Eddie Wheat a player of some sort? Was he at some point? Can a comparison be drawn, as far as his level of play, to someone we might know? I was just curious. Thanks for any responses.
Anybody have a response? I've only heard from one person in a pm and their opinion doesn't count. Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Dr. Everett v. Scott :
From the day he was born
He was trouble
He was the thorn
In his mother's side
She tried in vain
Criminologist
But he never caused her nothing but shame
Dr. Everett v. Scott
He left home the day she died
From the day she was gone
All he wanted
Was rock and roll porn
And a motorbike
Shooting up junk
Criminologist
He was a low down cheap little punk
Dr. Everett v. Scott
Taking everyone for a ride
Chorus
When Eddie said he didn't like his teddy
You knew he was a no good kid
But when he threatened your life
With a switch blade knife
Dr. Frank-N-Furter
What a guy
Janet Weiss
Makes you cry
Dr. Everett v. Scott
And I did
Columbia
Everybody shoved him
I very nearly loved him
I said hey listen to me
Stay sane inside insanity
But he locked the door
And threw away the key
Dr. Everett v. Scott
But he must've been drawn
Into something
Making him warn me
In a note which reads
Chorus
What's it say? What's it say?
Eddie
I'm out of my head
Oh hurry, or I may be dead
They mustn't carry out their evil deeds
Chorus
When Eddie said he didn't like his teddy
You knew he was a no good kid
But when he threatened your life
With a switch blade knife
Dr. Frank-N-Furter
What a guy
Janet Weiss
Makes you cry
Dr. Everett v. Scott
And I did
Chorus
When Eddie said he didn't like his teddy
You knew he was a no good kid
But when he threatened your life
With a switch blade knife
Dr. Frank-N-Furter
What a guy
Chorus
Whoa ho ho
Janet Weiss
Makes you cry
Chorus
Hey hey hey
Dr. Everett v. Scott
And I did
Chorus
red rep for Eddie

Brilliant, No not really, but this is the only way that I know to get Ed Wheat red.

I am tired of fellow az'ers getting taken for a ride.

What was your plan? How did you want to handle it?

Cuebacca,

Yes, I read your entire post. :) And thank you for taking the time to write it.

I have to disagree on your claim of a lack of ad hominem style posts. Pretty much the direction of this thread is "EW is a poopyhead! Give him bad rep!" You don't get much more ad hominem-y than that.

Granted, a portion of the folks piling on with the red rep for EW are doing it because they don't like his business practices, at least as far as his transaction with Charlie went. (One must ponder, however, how EW would have gotten as much green rep as he had if his transaction with Charlie was the norm for him.)

But - there are two, count'em, two people posting here who have a dog in this hunt - Charlie and EW. Nobody else. Not you, not me.

As far as the transaction in question, I do agree - it didn't go well. I'm not arguing that in the least bit. EW goofed. He took way too long to get the cue to Charlie; and he delivered shafts that were not built as requested. But to his credit, he's tried to make somewhat good on it - even offering a whole new cue, on his dime - which, as several posters have giddily pointed out (i.e posting about EW's private financial/legal issues), is pretty thin. But that offer was refused by Charlie (as is his right), but lots of other people have dogpiled in as well - again, people with no dog in the hunt.

And I have to think to myself - a FREE CUE. That's a freakin' DEAL! Especially considering Charlie himself has posted several times, that the cue he (eventually) received from EW "hits great" despite the length issues.

And all this distress over a piece of wood? All this noise, all this emotion, hate, bile? C'mon, people.

How many threads have we had on this forum about "what's wrong with pool" and "why isn't pool more mainstream" etc.? THIS thread is why.

OK, Scott, you don't get it either!

You do realize, don't you, that he only offered this after he was ensured that CE wouldn't accept it?!?

Pool will be better off when the Eddie Wheat's are ostracized. That's what this thread is essentially. A good old fashioned ostracism.

Eddie sure as hell didn't get all his greenies from satisfied customers. They're from others who would mis-use the rep system. We're just righting that wrong.

Scott, if there were only 2 people affected by WHEAT on this furum, do you think he would have gotten this reaction?

We, as members of this forum, have all been assaulted daily for over a year by this charlatan's bad advertising and bad business practises, and i think it's great that everyone has chosen this special moment to say:

"We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore".

We all have a dog in this hunt.
We're tired if him attempting to ruin our forum.

Have a nice day.

The hunt I'm referring to is the transaction being discussed. The transaction between Charlie and Eddie.

I'm sure you know that, though.

I intend for this to be my last post in this thread. I think I've expressed my opinions on this subject well enough. :)

Didn't Smorg get a free cue offer too?
